"Great choice for a quick overnighter"
I was traveling through and was pretty tired. I stopped and tried to find a room in a nearby town, but everything was either full or way expensive. So I pulled into a McDonalds and booted up the old laptop. I found the Red Roof Inn in Springfield (OH). I got there late at night, and got checked right in. The room was clean, if a bit dated. This hotel has smoking and non-smoking rooms. Even though I got a non-smoking room, the hallway and the area near my door reeked of smoke. It wasn't as bad at my bed, but I could still smell it. The hotel staff was wonderful, my only dissatisfaction was in breakfast while I know it is hard to please everyone it would have been nice to see items that were more diabetic friendly. Overall this was a good deal for the money. The front desk clerk at the time of arrival was very nice and personable. The room selected for us was quiet, on the 3rd floor. The room was not fancy, but was clean and comfortable. There is a small pool, but I had no interest in that. "Had to switch rooms because of smell and non-working ac"
We chose this hotel as a stopping point between a festival near Dayton and a day-trip to Columbus. The woman at the reception desk was very friendly, quick and helpful. She gave us information regarding the surrounding town and maps to get around. The room was not as good. We chose a non-smoking room. My first impression when I opened the door was […] a strong animal/urine smell (it is a pet-friendly hotel). My husband's was of the strong disinfectant they had used (probably to try to mask the urine smell). We turned on the air conditioning and left for dinner, hoping that the cooler air would help relieve the room of the smell. When we returned a couple hours of later, we realized the ac did not work, the fan worked but the room was still warm and smelly. We talked to the reception desk woman about switching rooms. We were in luck in that there was one remaining room. She moved us to a room in the first floor (allowing us to try the ac first to make sure it worked). This room was great, no smells, nice and cool, comfortable bed.
