"Too Expensive"
The hotel served it's purpose. The location was great, but the hotel is too expensive for the quality and décor. The staff was helpful. The charge for valet is $12 per night. I think if we return to Portland, we would stay elsewhere due to the high room rate. It is listed as a historic hotel and while we appreciate a historic property, it has been a […] while since this property had some attention to it's appearance. I must say though, the bathroom was recently renovated and quite large. I did need to call down to have higher wattage light bulbs put into the bathroom, as the lighting was very poor. "Clean but expensive for what you get"
This is an absolutely a "no frills" hotel. The rooms are clean and the location is close to nearly everything. Other than that you have nothing. Was disappointed with the non-replenshment of items in the room including toilet paper and the 2 waters in your room (which is all they offer and didn't get). I would expect a lot more from a hotel that charges […] as much as it does. Not recommended for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not special"
Our room was nice but unexceptional - no tub, which is always a disappointment. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Valet parking at $12 was reasonable and the lot was around the corner if you just needed something in the trunk. I was pleased with the discounted price I paid, which was the same as every other nice hotel's in the off-season, but I certainly […] wouldn't want to pay their premium price in the summer. "doesn't live up to the hype"
Location is great for walking through the old port to clubs, concerts and the like. Hotel is clean and bed was comfortable, huge bathroom and walk in elegant shower. That being said, my room looked nothing like the pictures, we had a king bed but no fireplace, no elegant architectural details, no four poster bed. I don't think this hotel lives up to […] the price or hype as a romantic get away, I travel frequently for business and pleasure and I think the hold on my credit card for incidentals at check in was excessive at $100.... usually in comparable hotels it is $50... I would not stay again at these prices. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Place, Lousy Staff"
The hotel is obviously in a great location. The bar in the basement, The Armory is a good spot. The room is clean and the beds were made up each night. However, I had a few huge issues with how they run this place. First, when my fiance and I went to check in, they refused to allow us because we were not on the reservation. I asked them to call my […] friend, who was on the reservation and they refused. We had to wait three hours for them to arrive, which was a pain! I can't see the harm of letting us check in before our friends arrived. Second, I left my pillow in the room and although they found it, they would not send it to me without a credit card. I spent several nights there each year and think they could pick up the $10-$20 charge to ship the pillow. Given that they wouldn't, I'll probably stay somewhere else in the future. "Close to activities"
Enjoyed most everything about the Regency, however, bath was VERY poor. Old tub, ceiling was stained, nothing first rate. I was disappointed and would stay elsewhere the next visit to Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location"
The price of this hotel is not worth the convenience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome - except the bed"
Everything about this hotel - the staff, the location, cleanliness, etc - was awesome EXCEPT the bed, which felt like a marshmallow. It was so soft and spongy. The antithesis of what I liked. My girlfriend and I both woke up with sore backs from the complete and utter lack of support.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
In general, while the hotel is in a great location, it is just a very average place to stay. The curtains on the windows are really terrible, and do not cover the windows, so you cannot block out the lights outside. This is really a problem for the rooms that face a very well light parking lots. Front desk staff was not very friendly. Would not be able […] to recommend this hotel Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"somewhat disappointed"
the BEST location for shopping, eating, walking around. However, it's extremely noisy at night so had to keep windows closed. Gorgeous historic building, however the walls are very thin in the interior and you could easily hear tvs next to you and below you. Hotel is being renovated so very noisy--loud machinery outside your window starting at 8 a.m. […] New bathrooms are beautiful but bathroom door was too tall so couldn't close. Maids left no water one day, no soap the other. I think we expected more from a Regency and for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Location is amazing, hotel itself is very nice; the service & food leave a lot to be desired especially for the price of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
