Maine’s largest city is located on a peninsula in Casco Bay. Boutiques, restaurants, and bars line the cobblestone streets of historic Old Port. Downtown’s Arts District is home to galleries and museums including the Portland Museum of Art and Portland Observatory. The elaborate Victoria Mansion and the historic Western Promenade neighborhood provide examples of the city’s rich variety of Victorian-era houses.see all hotels in Portland

Very SatisfiedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a great stay at the LaQuinta. My expectations were not very high, but the place was clean and quiet. My room was nicer than a recent stay at a Sheraton. The continental breakfast was better than average for this type of hotel as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A liitle out of the way but a good value"
While not close to Old Port it is walking distance to ballpark and expo center. They have a shuttle service to airport, ferry and medical center, but it would have been nice to offer some sort of service to Old Port area where parking can sometimes be a problem. Other than that a nice place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is in a good location, close to freeway, restaurants, stores/shopping & downtown! Hotel late night staff on first night was not courteous, uninformative as to smoking floor assigned room, parking arrangements, if points needed assessing to account, etc. 2nd night staff was much better! Probably wouldn't use this property if another visit to Maine […] but usually LaQuinta are nice hotels! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff were friendly upon check in. We got our room and went to it and the door was not shut. We went in and everything was clean (although there was a bagel left in the microwave). We went out to eat at a wonderful Italian restaurant down the road called Espo's. We went back to our room and because of the location of the room, which was right around […] the corner from the front desk, it was very loud and we could hear everything that was going on. I think that if we were going to be staying for longer than a night that we would have requested a different room. We were not able to take advantage of the continental breakfast as we had to leave too early in the morning. It doesn't open until 6:30. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel itself was pleasant enough but the neighborhood was bland and not very close to the more interesting part of town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"overrated and ovr-priced"
Beware ! the hotel is located behind a railroad.. our room faces the back parking lot by the outside pool, which was quite noisy with the train passing by. the breakfast room was small,so it gets quite crampy, but it has quite a good selection. wont stay there again for the high price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything you could as for in a value hotel. The room was clean and we were reasonably close to the wharf by car. The front desk was prepared with helpful information on restaurants and points of interests.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Average Mid Range hotel, but friendly service"
The hotel was exactly what you would expect for a mid-price hotel to be. Comfortable, clean rooms and free wi-fi and breakfast (although not many healthful options). The staff was exceptionally friendly and I really appreciated their airport shuttle service. It's about a mile and a half from down town but only about a 10 minute walk from the arts district, […] which was very cool. Very enjoyable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for an overnighter"
This hotel suited our needs (long New England tour on a modest budget), but one could certainly do better. The staff was very friendly and had no issues with us checking in early. The room was pretty clean, just a little worn. Comfortable bed and pillows were a plus. Breakfast was okay, basic free hotel kind of stuff. The cons are that this hotel is […] just outside of downtown and if you plan on walking into the city (as we mostly do), be mindful you will be walking through some gritty neighborhoods. We walked the city during the day and took a cab back at night ($10 with tip included). The other con is that the Hood Dairy milk distribution plant is right across the street so there are oftentimes diesel trucks driving by the hotel to go in to the plant; and when they have to wait to get in, they sit and idle on the street next to the hotel. If possibly, try and get a room on the opposite side. All in all, we got exactly what we expected for what we paid. We've had decent luck with La Quinta and this was right on par. "close to bus and train transportation center"
The internet website wi-fi was out of order. I listed five problems with the room we were assigned and gave it to the receptionist upon our departure. The price for our room was out of line with the quality of the facility.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Accommodations were perfect while I stayed here with my husband to attend a wedding nearby. The room was very clean and neat, the staff were courteous and helpful, and the room rate was fair.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My stay was nice, plenty of pillows, plenty of hot water in the shower, great smelling shampoo. Very little hall noise. My only complaint was your coffee downstairs. I live in New Hampshire and I drink Vermont's Green Mountain Coffee. It may just be what I am used to but the coffee from the dispenser at Breakfast was not very good. I tried extra sweetener, […] and extra cream, nothing helped it. The rest of breakfast was Great!!, Waffles, Yogurt & Fruit!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Below-standard La Quinta"
Room was drab brown. Bathroom floor filthy. Noise from adjacent highway and train. Marginal breakfast in undersized dining room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff very good & courteous. Rooms are pleasant but need updating-particularly the bathrooms. Must bring slippers as floors are sticky. Ihe location is not very accessable to shopping or dining. Reasonable rates. Fine for a one night stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was okay. Clean enough, not a great location but the price was right. They put me in a room located where everyone would walk by, and across from the ice machine, so it was a noisy room and I kept getting woken up. Next time in Portland I could try another hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"train tracks are lovely."
The place is old, in fair condition. The people are all pleasant, helpful. The free breakfast sucks. The hotel sits in a hollow between a set of train tracks on one side and Rt. 295 on the other. The tracks get active in the evening the highway is always busy so this isn't the quietest place I've ever stayed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK location (less than 10 min. drive to Old Port)"
This hotel was located pretty close to Old Port section of Portland. We arrived late and we were assigned a room next to elevator on the 4th floor. First night was fine, I slept through OK. But on the second night a big group of college students stayed across a hallway from us and they were very loud going in and out of their room and partied in a parking […] lot until 2am. I don't really know how they got away with it but we were annoyed because we could not sleep at all. Perhaps the management should have kept them under control. If I might add anything else to point out, I was less than impressed by the way they maintained bathroom cleanliness. Found hair stuck all over the bathroom wall (over bathtub/shower wall). Kind of gross. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Not the greatest neighborhood and across from a dairy. Having said that, it was very good to get to the airport from.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not luxe but perfectly fine"
The location is the best asset - it's 8 -10 min from downtown Old Port Right off to 295 the age and condition of the hotel is older but it's clean the staff was pleasant - there isn't much service to be offered there is a swimming pool and breakfast every morning freeGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not at all close to any must-see sights"
The front desk will run you through with their amenities very fast. Will give you a taxi-cab callcard to call if you want to go downtown or anywhere. Fact is they have a sign claiming to provide shuttle service ! Breakfast is minimum continental and not enough tables to sit the breakfast crowd ! Will not stay there again for that price !!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Visitors should be aware of the proximity of this hotel to the train tracks. Train noise wasn't constant but did occur regularly and did interrupt my sleep!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent bang for your buck!"
It was a pleasant stay; the staff were very friendly and went the extra mile in ensuring that our stay was nothing short of perfect! We also liked the free shuttle minivan service available to the Portland Transportation Center.Genuine Expedia guest review
"OK place if you want a cheap room in Portland."
Hotel is near a slum area and near to the Hood milk plant. A little loud in the AM. Would be scary to walk downtown and a little far. Take a cab.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotels in the downtown/oldport area were far more expensive than I was willing to pay and this hotel was an ok price and wasn't sketchy. However, I didn't feel comfortable walking at night to/from here to the happening area of town. The area wasn't the best and I was alone on this trip. However, it was close enough to be convenient. The staff was […] nice, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable after my long days of shopping or hiking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"All great except for the pillows"
This is almost a great hotel. They have everything I need, including breakfast in a very clean room--except that they have saved money on pillows, and it is clear the minute you put your head on one. Since I spend about 8 hours each day on a pillow, it is something that makes a big impression on me. I've gotten used to high quality pillows in their […] competing hotels over the last couple years. I'm sure LaQuinta will catch up eventually, but for now, I'll try somewhere else next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the location was fine, not walking distance of downtown Portland but a quick drive. the room was lacking in cleaniness. there were hairs around the bathroom sink area and some long hair stuck on the bottom of the iron. some hair also in the bathtub. the carpet looked like it needed more vacuuming. there was also some dried food stuck on the floor by […] the entrance. i found a cricket staring back at me from the AC when i turned it on, no other bugs. you can often smell smoke from adjacent rooms, so the ventilation is a problem. I didn't have trouble with noise as other reviewers had, but I am from an urban area so am used to noise at night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not great but not terrible."
The room was okay. The pool was dirty and gross-looking. And the fitness center was a treadmill, bike, and cable machine. And it was stinky. The staff were really nice though.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Fine & as expected"
Hotel was perfectly clean and fine, staff was friendly, the room was nice. Only problem was the AC didn't seem to stay on in the night so it was a bit warm feeling. The location is in walking distance of downtown Portland - we took a cab back at night for about $10 or less (including tip).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"it gets the job done"
It was nothing fancy but we were satisfied with our stay. The checkin guy was friendly enough, the room and facilities were fine. "You get what you pay for"
This hotel is beat up....even the floor in the elevator and bathrooms are cheap imitation of hardwood flooring but clearly a fake. The corridor has a funny unpleasant smell. We were supposed to have breakfast included but did not eat there as the continental breakfast was horrible. The littel room where they serve the breakfast is very tiny, My family […] and I were just standing around trying to find seats, we finally left and got breakfast elsewhere. The location of this hotel is also very disapointing. I will not stay here again and do not recommend it. Trust me, this is a cheap motel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overpriced and the place smelled"
The place was very overpriced and the room smelled like old socks. It was very convenient to downtown, Hadlock Field and the interstate. However the prices were similar to nice hotels in Boston and the quality was subpar. The service at the hotel was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very quiet and wonderful staff"
The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable and made for a good night sleep. The staff was very friendly always had smiles even when we checked in close to midnight. If we go through Maine again we'll definitely stay here!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quality hotel close to Old Port"
Hotel was close to the highway and close enough to the main area in Portland. Overall, good experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good, not great location, within walking distance to ballpark where Portland Seadogs play (Boston Redsox Double AA minor league affiliate), very convenient to rail and bus stations (short taxi ride) hotel provided free shuttle to and from a nice convenience, room was clean, air conditioning blew cold, water pressure in shower was good, king bed very […] comfortable, outdoor inground pool was adequate (heavily chlorinated, no surprise), overslept the continental breakfast intentionally (appeared to be loaded with starchy, floury baked good, cereals, etc - probably/might have eaten there is open to 11:00 am/closed 9:00 am), staff was friendly and helpful (recommended an OUTSTANDING breakfast 'Becky's Diner' a short cab ride away), overall adequate experience, would have been rated a 4 instead of a 3 due to price as the room was expensive - albeit seasonal and understanding, also it never ceases to amaze me that not only did the hotel staff not know definitively but surrounding area businesses also did not know exactly what time the gates to the ballpark open? Is 4:30 pm for a 7:00 pm game, btw. The hotel is a partner to the Seadogs and area business rely on their existence (one place actually said, "oh, are they in town tonight?"). When I go back up there again, and we will, I will consider staying at a much nicer hotel near the ocean for just a little more money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Seadogs stadium, but a dated hotel"
We actually ended up canceling our reservation and going to a different hotel, but couldn't switch until the next day. So we begrudgingly spent one night. The rooms were quite dated, we had to cross the parking lot to get to the pool (not a great idea with children), and our room was next to train tracks so we were awakened by trains all night long. […] Not a good experience. Not an easy location for walking to anywhere, except the Seadogs stadium. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Super close to 295, so only minutes to downtown. Right across from the ballpark for those in town to see the Sea Dogs. Service was great - staff were helpful and friendly. Not the newest/cleanest hotel ever, but not gross and certainly a great value for the price. I'd stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Pet-Friendly Hotel"
I sometimes need to travel with my 2 dogs, so I'm always on the look-out for pet friendly hotels. This hotel does not charge a pet fee, and they are ultra friendly to pets as well. I would recommend this hotel (and the LaQuinta chain) to anyone traveling with their pets.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good place for a ballgame"
