"super basic"
The hotel is very basic. Bed, dresser, shower, etc. It was clean, though the shower curtain was moldy. One thing that would make a big difference would be for their shuttle to run downtown/to Old Port. Then the distance (it's about a $10 cab ride) wouldn't seem as big a deal. Seems silly that it doesn't, as it runs to the airport, etc. All in all, a […] decent place to get a night's sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We walked into our and it reaked of smoke and musty mold. Not impressed. However the beds were very comfy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, cheap"
Convenient to downtown Portland and inexpensive, but thin walls, a clean but uncomfortable mattress and slow tub drain stopped me from being able to rate this hotel greater than a 3. Would only stay again if absolutely no other preferred hotels had availability.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient location, but leaves much to be desired"
We picked the hotel by close proximity to a meeting in town. The neighborhood looks a combination industrial/low income housing, which left much to be desired.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Next to train tracks"
I wanted a quiet place to sleep and this place is right next to the train tracks! Expect frequent noisy trains and horn blasts.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient lower cost hotel"
Staff was excellent. Convenient to Portland and I295.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Maine thing in Maine is the sea"

"Cheap, clean and convenient hotel"
This was an adequate hotel - we were visiting Portland for an afternoon/evening, leaving early the next morning. This was clean and having breakfast made it efficient in the morning. There are no tourist attractions within walking distance, you definitely need to drive to get a good meal or shopping. For the price, we were very satisfied.Genuine Expedia guest review
"For one night it was fine"
Room was clean, staff was very nice. I had a non smoking room but the Hallway stunk of ciggarete smoke. The room did too but I stopped noticing after 20 or so minutes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I very disapointed for the amount of money I spent. There was a dried up dirty washcloth hanging on the shower curtain when I checked in. The bathtub was covered in "someones" hair, private and other. The bed had dirt and hair in the sheets when I pulled them back to go to bed.The following day when they came and refreshed the towels and made the bed, […] they still left the "dirty washcloth" hanging over the shower. I am canceling my reservation I have in September for 3 nights, as I cant see spending that amount of money and having the remians of the person before me all through the room. "ok place to stay"
Adequate. Nothing fancy but the bed was comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Was ok"
Stay was ok. Good breakfast but rooms looked old and had some weird smell. Overall looks old but close to the downtown area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good hotel for the low cost."
I choose this hotel because I didn't want to pay the prices for a downtown Portland hotel. It is located quite close - within a mile from great restaurants, but not within walking distance of anything good, and the area is not that nice. For a really great stay in Portland, I think next time I would splurge on a downtown hotel. This hotel was clean […] enough, but it is nothing special. Our room was located right off the lobby and it was very noisy all through the night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad"
A bit on the expensive side for what you get, need to get taxis from hotel into Portland but the quality of the hotel itself is good. Nothing really int he surrounding area unless you are driving.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Proceed with Caution"
The condition of the room & hotel was good. The Staff performance & customer service was terrible. An absent General Manager. An absent desk staff after 11:00 pm. In addition, Jason (front desk staff) was unprofessional, rude, and contentious. Advertised shuttle service did not exist. Location is near minor league baseball stadium, and allows parking […] for the games - as well as the loud & intoxicated "fans" post game during the night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Within the pPortland vicinity"
It was a pleasant stay. The only thing was: the unpleasant smell (unpleasant foot odor?) of the carpet on the floor where our room was located.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"not bad for the price"
The room came with free easily accessible wifi which was a big plus. It is conveniently located near the highway but less than a mile from bars and restaurants. The accommodations were a bit spare and worn but adequate for the price. The free continental breakfast was nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"cold"
cold, cannot make the temperature higher, feels like around 70F, cannot turn it off, the fan always bring some cold wind, and noisy. no quilt, only blanket. far from downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Every other hotel was booked"
We couldn't get into any other hotel. We were told it was a 4 out of 5 by expedia. Certainly not but it served the purposeGenuine Expedia guest review
"La Quinta Inn - Portland"
This hotel is great if you're only travailing through. It's located near the exit on the highway, but quite far from the city center. A car or cab is definitely advised for moving between the hotel and the city centre, because you travel through a neighbourhood that we did not feel comfortable with on foot after dark. The hotel is everything you can […] expect for a chain hotel in this price range. Nothing spectacular, neither in positive nor in negative sense. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"la Quinta--not bad"
Comfortable but had some flaws. Neighborhood lacked any personality and hallway smelled of smoke-room was fine however. Gym was a small room with a bike and a treadmill--kinda depressing. Room was comfortable and folks behind the desk were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was pretty good too.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointed"
We have stayed at this particular LaQuinta several times however, something has happened here! Check in was uneventful, neither friendly nor unfriendly, very matter of fact. Our room was the most disappointing. The tub was so plugged that we had long intervals before the next person could shower/bath. Although the problem was reported nothing was done […] about it. I don't see how housekeeping staff can properly clean a tub without noticing how terrribly plugged up it is,,, and that is the scarry part!!! Also the electrical switch plate outside the bathrrom was so, so filthy that I cleaned it myself. There was more uncleanliness in the room but....... lets just say, there will not be the chance of it bothering us anymore! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great staff - funny smelling room"
The first room that I was in had a very bad smell. It was as though there had been a wet dog in it and the odor was being masked by rug cleaner. It started to give me a headache. The young man at the front desk was very kind and found me another room immediately. I give them much credit for having such an accommodating staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Average hotel -- worth it if you're not paying too much"
The hotel was clean, breakfast was decent, and the hotel is really close to town. If you're paying too much I would recommend it. Probably not worth what I paid though.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Just a room"
If your looking for just a room and nothing more including convenience of walking thru downtown Portland this is your hotel. There is no thrills and its next to nothing other than some train tracks and the highway, but for the price it is a good choice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"it was ok"

"Moderate Inn"
Moderate Inn, not impressed from the room, without a cofee/tea kit, but at least a comfy bed and shower. location- not a nice neighborhood, far from the center . The breakfast was nice, included waffels, fruits and yogurt. Free Parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
"LaQuinta - Portland - Poor surroundings"
We were very disappointed to realize that the motel is located in "marginal" surroundings very close to the airport with its noises as well as right next to the railroad tracks where at 3:00 a.m. a freight train noisily passed by for at least 10 plus minutes. The staff was very friendly and polite. The breakfast room was well maintained as were the […] rooms. Having stayed at many LaQuinta hotels in various places around the country, we were surprised by the location of this particular hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Basic Lodging"
Close to tourist area (not walkable); rather ugly location but easy to find. Needs a bit of a facelift, shows its age, smells old. Room not huge but beds nice. Breakfast OK.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointing"
Minutes from I95 and a short car ride to the sites. (Although you will lose lots of time waiting for what must be the slowest elevator in Portland.) Some fast food restaurants within walking distance, but otherwise nothing of note in the neighborhood. The room was strangely furnished. The chair at the desk was made of canvas and would have looked more […] at home on a camping trip. Also, the chair wouldn't fit under the desk. The breakfast was very underwhelming. First, it was brief: 6AM to 9AM, vs 6AM to 10AM at most other hotels. Also, the seating was limited, to the point that many guests gave up on waiting for a seat and took a tray back to their rooms. (Our tray was still there in the room when we returned at night. Housekeeping seemed to operate on a strange schedule.) Finally, the selection was limited. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for the money"
If you want an hotel with glorious views and a long list of amenities, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a perfectly acceptable hotel, close to town, with no embelishment and an ok price compared to others around Portland, this could fit the bill. Room was good, as was the service - although being next to the goods railway track and milk factory, […] does test the double glazing at times. Continental breakfast was self-service in a small, but adequate room. Used as a base to explore Portland for two days, this hotel was fine - much beyond that, it could become tiresome.
