Great room. Great bed. Free wifi. Pool, hot tub, spa and work out area clean and open until 10PM. Close to everything I went there for. Great price. The only thing I missed was a continental breakfast and some complimentary coffee/tea.I would definitely stay there again.

Very clean; pool is warm. Restaurant for dinner has good food and service, and now the Egg and I is on the premises for breakfast. Everyone was friendly. Near enough the Old Port, beaches, and shopping to be convenient.

The customer service here was fantastic! My travelling companion and I had an unexpected event come up and we cancelled 3 of my 4 nights staying there due to that. The night before we were due to leave, we found out that we could in fact stay in the Portland area. After my first night's stay there, I spoke with a Dianne in the morning and she was absolutely […] fabulous! She not only helped us to get all of the remaining nights there at a great rate. However, the heating system was a bit loud and whenever we opened the outside room door, the plastic cover for the light in the ceiling would suction and create a loud noise. My husband, adult daughter and I stayed two nights while visiting family for Thanksgiving. We had a very clean room and bathroom. There was also a second sink and mirror outside the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable. I usually get a sore back when I'm not in my own but it didn't happen there. Staff at the front desk and housekeepers were pleasant […] and helpful. Because we were busy with family events, we didn't use the weight room or pool but they looked well kept. The hotel is right off the turnpike exit so made it convenient to get to all the places we were going. It's only a few minutes to the Maine Mall exit for those interested in shopping. As close as it was to the turnpike, we didn't hear any traffic noise, though the first night I kept waking up every time the heat went on. I didn't notice it the second night. We were very pleased with the room and the service. Although the hotel does not have a concierge the desk agent provided us with a recommendation for a restaurant and written directions to it. We availed ourselves of his recommendation and were very satisfied. Our room was pleasant and met all our needs. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

THe HJ Plaza - Portland is a very nice and cozy full-service hotel. All of the staff I made contact with (Diane at front desk, Angie from house-keeping, and Mary who cleaned our room were extremely helpful and friendly. I have travelled around the world and lived in many temporary lodging facilities. My only real complaint is that the mattress on the double bed I slept in was too firm and lumpy. Have not stayed in a Ho Jo's for many years. This Hotel was recently updated.We stayed for 7nights and used the washer/dryer daily. That was great. Also used fitness center. It was all I needed. Was very clea and comfortable. Enjoyed our stay.

Hotel and staff were very nice. Lobby area gorgeous! We were there to visit Portland's Commercial St area, and this hotel was not convenient. Had to take toll road and follow GPS carefully - lots of twists and turns. Would stay on Route 1 next time. Last-minute trip to Portland mid-August means not many (decently priced) hotel rooms available. Settled on this, and overall happy--it's not downtown Portland, but it's a 10 minute ride away. Seems to have been recently renovated, clean rooms, nice (if loud--lots of kids) pool, lots of parking, friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
