"Have stayed many times before"
It was as it always has been in the past. Fairly convenient to everything and comfortable. Meals are very pricey. Food is ok. The maid service has changed. I used to leave the room after 11 without a problem and always came back to my bed made, trash taken and used towels changed. The second day, we were leaving the room and was asked if I needed towels. […] I said yes and she started handing them to me. So I said, and the bed made. She took the towels back and said nevermind, I'll take these.(?????). It was a good weekend though and as always, will go back to that hotel the next time we are in town. "could walk to the Civic Ctr &waterfront."
Overall I was pleased. but .. The wait to get a room was not expected and upset our plans.It set our two night stay off on the" uncomfortable" side.We were tired from a long drive and wanted a rest before our PM plans. The hotel is a bit old, but in good repair. What is always comes down to is the quality of service. A pretty place can be as cold as a tomb if there is bad service. There were certain inadequacies in the hotel. The safe in my room was not functioning and the cleaning staff should have noted that. The refrigerator in the room made too much noise but I found a way to muffle it but that really was not my responsibilty. The breakfast was far too expensive. The toilet ran all night, the drain in the shower was clogged, the faucet in the shower was broken, the coffee pot did not work,the bathroom sink did not drain-in other words a plumbing nightmare. "I don't get the hype for this hotel."
My opinion of this hotel eroded at check-in. As I was filling out the sign in information the front desk person was talking to another employee which did not bother me at all. What bothered me was she continued her conversation long after I had finished filling out the form, so much so that I decided not to say anything just to see how long it would […] take for her to realize I was waiting for her, understand she was standing directly in front of me while she talked. Finally the person she was talking to started to nudge her with her elbow and nodded her head in my direction to get her to notice me. When I asked how late their car service ran at night she said she didn't know she thought around 10:00 p.m. as she said this another employee overheard her and told me the service runs all night. Overall the experience was very good. Travelled with my mother and husband who both experienced some breathing issues related to stuffiness in room. Air conditioner did not function properly and windows did not open. Hotel is fully carpeted and I believe this may have added to the issue. We needed to have access to our room before the allocated time of 4 p.m. The staff was great in that we were able to have access before that time in order to get ready for a wedding. I really enjoyed staying here! I could walk to just about anywhere from this location and the staff were great! I would most definitely stay here again. The ONLY downside to staying here was that the pool is in the basement and there are no windows.
