"Have stayed many times before"
It was as it always has been in the past. Fairly convenient to everything and comfortable. Meals are very pricey. Food is ok. The maid service has changed. I used to leave the room after 11 without a problem and always came back to my bed made, trash taken and used towels changed. The second day, we were leaving the room and was asked if I needed towels. […] I said yes and she started handing them to me. So I said, and the bed made. She took the towels back and said nevermind, I'll take these.(?????). It was a good weekend though and as always, will go back to that hotel the next time we are in town. Overall I was pleased. but .. The wait to get a room was not expected and upset our plans.It set our two night stay off on the" uncomfortable" side.We were tired from a long drive and wanted a rest before our PM plans. "Excellent service."
The hotel is a bit old, but in good repair. What is always comes down to is the quality of service. A pretty place can be as cold as a tomb if there is bad service. "Good value, friendly service"
When I booked I only had the option to go for a smoking room. The hotel had a wedding that weekend and all non-smoking rooms were booked. I thought I'd give it a shot, but I have to say it was quite awful. We had a spacious, clean King size room, but no option to open a window and the smell was in your hair and clothes within minutes. After two nights […] in the smoking room we were finally able to move. The room was much smaller, but non-smoking and newly renovated with a bay view. I would give that room a 5, the other smoking one was a 2 at best. Location is good, it's a 10 minute walk to the bars and restaurants at the bay, and the staff is is very nice and happy to give you a complementary lift anywhere in town. "A day at the old port"
Overall the experience was very good. Travelled with my mother and husband who both experienced some breathing issues related to stuffiness in room. Air conditioner did not function properly and windows did not open. Hotel is fully carpeted and I believe this may have added to the issue. Our room was on the top floor and perhaps air did not circulate […] as well as on other floors. We had stayed the Friday before and had a room on the 10th floor and experienced no such issues. "Very nice!"
I really enjoyed staying here! I could walk to just about anywhere from this location and the staff were great! I would most definitely stay here again. The ONLY downside to staying here was that the pool is in the basement and there are no windows. Problem with reservation booking. Reservation was extended but we were "locked out" of room for 30 min. even though room was paid for, we were not allowed entrance. All the hotel employees were helpful and friendly. We called for extra coffee for our room and it was delivered very promptly. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to and from the airport and to and from the Old Port part of Portland. It was very convenient to have this shuttle bus to pick us up at our location instead of having to walk up the hill in […] 97 degrees! The walk isn't far from the hotel to everything downtown, but it was extremely hot that afternoon. "The Family Wedding in Portland Maine"
We were at Portland for a family wedding. Our adjoining rooms for my family had a beautiful view of the bay! It was not your typical Holiday Inn; a definite step up and so close to everything that you could leave your car in the parking lot and just walk to everything in Portland! Although Portland has so many fun restaurants, a few of us stayed behind […] and just ate one night in the hotel restaurant! The food was excellent with very good service and we had no wait for dinner. The morning service for breakfast was understaffed and a bit slow but very convenient. There are several fast breakfast places around, such as Dunkin Donuts , Starbucks, or Becky's Diner if you are up for a little walk. The pool and work out room were a welcome treat after the day! .
