"No a/c and dirty room"
The staff was really nice, the breakfast was really good and the location was great but the a/c unit in our room didn't work and because they were sold out there was nothing that could be done. The phone didn't work so when the a/c unit wasn't working I had to go down to the desk and let them know. Very nice for our needs. Right across the street from Henderson Park and Beach, close enough to walk. I rented a bike and stayed on the sidewalks. (There are bike lanes on HW 98, but I don't recommend using them as the traffic is very busy!) This hotel was ok. The room was clean, but overall it was an ok, average hotel. The good thing was it has a indoor and outdoor swimming pool which was a plus with my kids. "Indoor pool in October was nice."
Our stay was in October so we chose this hotel for the indoor pool, not knowing what outdoor temps would be. Indoor pool is very nice and kids enjoyed it many times. We stayed 3 nights. Room was straightened after the first night and we were given more towels, but after that, the room was never 'straightened' again and we had to get our own towels. […] We rented room with option of rollaway bed but found that rollaway bed would not fit in the room. Breakfast was good, but not good, if any, fruit choices. "Learned a valuable lesson"
We stayed here our last trip to Destin, and hotel was great. However this trip, not so much. When we arrived in our room, there was a liquor bottle on top of the armoire, probably from the last guest...the maid missed it. The hotel was undergoing renovations...not the most pleasant experience in the world. I asked for a bottle of conditioner and the […] maid snapped at me and told me "It should be in the room" Well it wasn't or else I wouldn't have asked. When I confronted management about it, management responded with "That's just how she is"...hmmmm. Hotel staff was very courteous and friendly. Front Desck clerk Robert suggested some excellent resturants - don't skip Captain Daves Seafood right on the gulf. It's a 10 minute drive at the most. If you can get a room facing the water the view is unobstructed since there is a wonderful State Park (Henderson) just across the street. Although not directly on the water, this hotel is a very nice place to stay which includes breakfast in the mornings and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and pink lemonade in the afternoon.
