The location was very good. A lot of restaurants within walking distance and a Publix. The beach area is too far to walk but you can take the Trolley for 0.50$ one way or take the hotel shuttle. The free breakfast was good with fruits, bagels, donuts, yogourt, pancakes, eggs sandwichs, cereals, oatmeal, tea and Starbuck coffee. "Dirty and Disorganized"
My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt Place Ft Lauderdale the day before leaving on our cruise. We picked the hotel for its location to the cruise terminal and that was the only benefit of staying there. We arrived at the hotel at 2pm (check-in time) and were told that our room was not ready. They told us to go have lunch somewhere in the area and come […] back at 3 when the room would be ready "FOR SURE" Arriving back at 3 the line at the front deck was 4 to 5 customers deep in all lines. We waited for 20 minutes and finally reached the front and were told the room was still not ready. The lobby was packed with customers waiting for the rooms to be ready. Finally at approximately 4pm we were told the room was ready. No explanation was given as to why the room was not ready. Getting to our room finally only to find it not very clean. There was mold in the bathroom and the carpet was stained in several places. Nothing was done for these issues and we were stuck with the room as is. The beds however were comfortable. In the morning a "continental breakfast" was offered. This too was overcrowded with travelers and the employees could not keep up with the about of people. Check out was similar to the check-in process. Long lines and the front desk people seemed to be overwhelmed or just clueless as to what to do. We checked out as soon as possible just to leave the property and sat in the cruise terminal for a few hours before boarding. The reason we booked a hotel before was to relax before the cruise and have a comfortable place to stay. "Many things right, few not so much"
Stayed for one night, and overall enjoyed it. The room was exactly as the picture on the website (King Suite); Bed was super comfortable, spacious, TV was outstanding (perfect for watching football!!). The front desk staff was very pleasant (Josh was a pleasant, nice young man). Breakfast was simple, yet good and hit the spot. A couple of negatives: […] for one, the grass in front of the hotel looked like it hadn't been cut in weeks, and the fountain in front was dirty and smelled. Not a good look when walking into a hotel. The "business center" wasn't much of one. The computers were severely outdated, running on an extremely slow and inefficient internet service. We arrived early from a cruise Sunday morning and booked the room that day through the website. The reservation was never received in their system and took a few hours until it wasfaxed and was manually entered. Thankfully the front desk at the time was nice enough to get our room cleaned quickly and we were able to be in our room by 11. We took the […] time waiting to explore the neighborhood and eat breakfast at a small diner nearby. It wasn't until we went out to dinner and came back that things took a bad turn. Once we arrived back at the hotel, we went up to our room to find that our key didn't work anymore. After going downstairs to rectify the situation we were told that leaving the card next to a cell phone would deactivate it and it was reset. This unfortunately did not solve the issue and after FOUR trips back downstairs and THIRTY minutes of waiting, someone from the front desk finally came up to the room to let us in. Nice hotel, very clean, nice extended continental breakfast. Many guests had trouble with the reservations. Hotel said on phone they had a free shuttle to the port and you could leave your car there free of charge. Not so when you arrived at the hotel. "Great place for pre/post cruise night"
We flew into FLL two days before ouur cruise and rented a car. The night before the cruise we took the car back and took the free shuttle to the hotel and then the next morning took the free shuttle to the cruise ship. "Hyatt Ft Lauderdale just average… could be better"
The hotel is located near by several shops, ex: supermarkets, restaurants, clothing stores… The check in was very effective and we managed to get our room by 10:00am. The room was spacious but the air conditioning was noisy. We turned it off and a funny smell could be noticed. The refrigerator was not working… They gave us the option to change the room […] but we had so much luggage and we were so tired that we passed that. The cleaning of the room could be improved. The breakfast was just a chaos, a lot of people trying to eat at the same time and not enough room for everyone… It should be better organized…. First they were very prompt in picking us up from the airport when we arrived. They have a lot of pre cruise guests and are very well organized in their shuttle service to the port. Also, if you cross the street infront of the hotel and walk a bout a 1/4 block there is an entrance to a parking lot of a strip mall which has a very good grocery store […] and you can stock up on water etc to take on the cruise.
