VUE on the WATER, the hotel's primary restaurant, offers outdoor seating and Intracoastal Waterway views. This dining venue serves breakfast buffets, and prepares steaks, seafood, pastas and sandwiches during lunch and dinner hours. Gallery Bar is open daily for lunch and dinner, and features a full bar. A complimentary business center houses three computer stations. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas for a fee. Function rooms accommodate between 20 and 350 people. An additional 5,000 square feet of outdoor space hosts weddings. Recreational amenities include a 24-hour fitness center and an outdoor pool that overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway. This hotel lends toys to young guests, and offers child care and children's activities programs for a fee.

The hotel is two blocks from Fort Lauderdale's beaches, where guests can find vendors renting water sports equipment. The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with 2 queen size beds. The living room and bedroom had flat screen tv's. "Nice Stay Despite Room Issues"
We had a flood through the bathroom ceiling in the middle of the night and had to be moved. Despite the inconvenience the staff was very helpful and did what they could to make the rest of our stay enjoyable. This is an excellent hotel in a great location. The suite was fabulous and nearby the beach, as well as several great restaurants. What problems we did have, the staff addressed immediately, such as the refrig didn't work. The electrician just brought in a new one after seeing the problem with the old one. "Disappointing for a girls' weekend getaway"
Atmosphere was disappointing. Room was shabby and needed some TLC. Pool bar never opened on Saturday(and it was beautiful weather). Room never got cleaned until almost 5:00. The front desk was ok but the clean up staff was the worst. I met dirty dashes in the room when we got ther. Even after we told the front dest the next morning nobody cleaned it. "Deferred maintenance and partial ammenities"
I usually see a lot of consistency in Double Tree properties. This one may be the exception. From the moment you drive up to the mandatory valet parking stand under the filthy glass entrance canopy, you see deferred maintenance. Elevator announcement lights that don't light up, hallway carpeting that desperately needs re-stretching, tile around the […] pool that needs re-setting, pool bathroom door that will not shut/lock, rusting window frames looking in to the restaurant....the list goes on. However, I have to say the rooms were generally clean (except it is obvious they don't vacuum daily), and it looked like fresh paint on the walls. The other issue is that this hotel wants desperately to have a "beach club" feel. However the outdoor tiki bar is open only on set days (we figured this out although nowhere is it posted), and never all day. And on the tikii bar off-days, you have to guess whether there is outdoor restaurant service (we finally asked one day and they agreed to serve outside.
