Built in 1962, the Lago Mar Resort Hotel and Club rises above 500 feet of beachfront acreage in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. This property is tucked between the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Mayan in the exclusive Harbor Beach neighborhood.
Hotel Features.
The hotel's Acquario restaurant specializes in Northern Italian cuisine. Live entertainment performs on weekends. The Palm Garden Dining Room serves buffet-style breakfasts in al fresco or indoor settings. The Wine Cellar Lounge presents a selection of fine wines. The Soda Shop is a gift shop, a bakery, a gourmet coffee bar and a pizzeria all under one roof. This shop also offers smoothies and protein shakes. The resort houses the 12,000-square-foot Executive Fort Lauderdale Conference Center and four function rooms that accommodate small or large groups. A complimentary business center contains four computer stations. Recreational amenities include an Olympic-size outdoor pool and a lagoon-style pool. Two ocean-side tennis courts, beach volleyball, a putting course, a giant chessboard, shuffleboard and a playground provide a variety of leisure pastimes. Beach towels, umbrellas and cabanas (surcharge) are available. The Spa at Lago Mar offers treatments based on holistic Ayurvedic practices. The fitness center features treadmills, cycles, cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, and steam rooms. Valet and self parking are both complimentary.

This five-story hotel offers 204 Tommy Bahama-inspired guestrooms that reflect Mediterranean and Key West influences. Private, furnished balconies afford views of the lagoon pool or the gardens. Beds feature pillowtop mattresses, custom-designed duvets and down pillows. Bathrooms feature granite countertops and eucalyptus-scented spa toiletries. Room amenities include microwave ovens, coffeemakers and refrigerators. Laptop compatible, in-room safes are provided. Accommodations include complimentary wireless Internet access, and flat-panel televisions equipped with cable channels.

"Nice Resort--few included amenities"
Lago Mar is a very pretty little resort in near proximity to where the Ft Lauderdale cruise ships depart. The hotel common areas try to mimic grand hotels like the Breakers and does a nice job on a smaller scale. There are two nice pools in the front courtyard area that leads down to an expansive beach. There is a coffee shop/market and boutique on […] site as well as a full service restaurant, beach/pool bar and bar near the restaurant that opens at 5 nightly. Coffee is available each morning until 8am in this bar area. Our room was spacious and very private---one bedroom, living room with pull-out, 2 baths, and microwave and mini-fridge. On a whole the hotel was very nice, but pricey compared to other hotels in the area. However, I don't think I would really call it a "resort", just a nice hotel with amenities you pay separately for. Umbrellas and chairs were not provided---at $25 a day for shaded seating I would think a "resort" would include this. Group activities in the pool (zumba, water arobics, etc) all had a $15 fee to participate. No money could be used in the restaurant, coffee shop or market (you sign for everything) and a mandatory 18% fee was attached to everything---including purchasing a bag of chips in the market! There is no drink service on the beach, something I would expect a resort to have. All in all a nice place to spend a few days but with few amenities included. My wife and our 1 1/2 year old stayed here Thursday and Friday night before our cruise on the Oasis of the Seas. It was completely relaxing after our first long distance travel experience with our little one. We got a good night sleep in a quiet comfortable room (we should have got a king bed rather than two queens to give us a little more room with […] the crib) to help adjust from our Utah time schedule, spent an entire day enjoying the private beach and onsite playgrounds, watched the Friday evening ships leave port, and had the concierge arrange a $7pp shuttle to the nearby Port Lauderdale. I could have flew home happy and satisfied after a single day. The rest of our party flew to Orlando on Wednesday, tried to cram every Disney park into two days, then drove 3 hours to Fort Lauderdale Saturday morning to board the ship. This hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel is located on the beach, which makes for an easy stroll to the ocean. For families, there are many activities, i.e. such as shuffleboard, tennis, a beautiful playground, and put put golf. For the adults there are nighttime activities which includes live music, usually starting at 5 PM and lasting 2 to […] 3 hours. There is also a spa however we did not use it. The pools at this hotel are excellent. The service was five stars. We were always asked by staff if there was anything they could do for us. Staff always had a smile on their face and sincerely seemed happy to be working there. Service and beach location are clearly the highlights of this resort. The only minor negatives that I can think of would be that the decor is slightly outdated, however everything was exceptionally clean. Also, the services and convenience store are extremely expensive than if you bought offsite. For instance, a bottle of Evian water costs $5, whereas I could find the same bottle for a $1.50 at a Publix grocery store. You definitely pay for onsite convenience. If we travel to the Ft.
