This is the place to stay in ft. Lauderdale. It close to the beach, but what’s very nice is you walk through the beautiful hotel lobby have a drink at their nice bar or eat at their restaurant right on Las Olas with live music or you can walk easily to any of the other shops and restaurants. We had a tower room with a balcony and it was very nice. Its 4 minutes to the beach via driving. You also can walk along river side which is a very nice or take the water taxi. The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas--I love this hotel--I used to live in Ft Lauderdale, and I stay here whenever I return. I would never trade a stay here for a hotel on the beach. The atmosphere is Old Florida, and the Las Olas area is beautiful. A room with a balcony overlooking the river is perfect for relaxing and watching the river […] traffic. Convieniently located to everthing - shops, beach, restaurants, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful! Love this this place. The hotel was built in 1937 and has lots of character. The only thing I wish is that I stayed in the newer section that has 12 floors. Would have been nice to see a view of the surrounding area. Great weekend getaway!

This old timey hote in downtown Lauderdale was fantastic for our long weekend. The staff was gracious, the room very clean and comfortable. Best of all, it was a quiet stay. The walls were pretty thick, maybe because of the old plaster, but whatever it was, we both enjoyed a good night's sleep each evening of our stay. The pool was clean and uncrowded […] and the Las Olas Blvd. shops had great shopping and restaurants. Having lived in South Florida for 22 years, it was nice to come back as a tourist and enjoy the old stomping grounds like a tourist! We highly recommend The Riverside. Read more

I have stayed here twice and loved both times. My suggestion is to spend the extra money and go with the tower section of the hotel floors 9-12 w/balcony rooms as you get a great river view of the boats going by and the city at night is beautiful. This is the hotel you want to stay at if you want to park your car and walk to everything.

The Riverside Hotel was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Ft. Lauderdale. I was not familiar with it but it's location was perfect for my needs. I loved the […] old Florida charm of the hotel and the photographs of the evolution of the hotel over the past 75 years. Marleni at Preston's lobby bar was a real standout. I had a late check in and the bar was closing so I am sure she wanted to go home. She never rushed me, told me about the heritage of the hotel and invited me back for happy hour the next day. When I came back with friends the next day, the bar was very busy but Marleni gave me the same personal attention that she did when I was the only person there. I will definitely choose this hotel the next time I am in Ft. Lauderdale. Read more

My only issue was with nightly parking fees (at about $16 a night) but this can be expected in any resort or downtown area. We had a wonderful time at the Riverside Hotel. We stayed in the executive tower and really enjoyed our room. The staff was wonderful and the hotel itself is very beautiful. The only complaint we had was the spotty wifi. We couldn't get connected very often and it was frustrating.
