"Great Presentation, Poor hygiene!"

"Fine but not first choice on a return trip"
Overall, this wasn't the worst place ever. The room just was not clean. Cobwebs and dirt in corners and just an overall feeling that the room had not been used prior to our arrival. We had no soap or cups which you usually expect to be waiting in your bathroom. The hot water lasted about 5 minutes during a shower then went dead cold. "Close to most everything"

I had a studio room and it was ok but I would not stay there again with kids. I had my son with me and he was very uncomfortable. Entrance to room was dark and hidden by tall bushes and trees. Room decor is dated and the room had an old stinch to it. My mattress was worn out and when I pulled back the blankets there was a receipt from the last person […] that was still in the bed (maybe washed with the sheets??). My son slept on he pullout and he said the mattress was thin. Also, the second morning after the room was supposedly cleaned, the cleaning person left a wet towel on the bathroom counter which was questionable if it was ours since we left all of ours on the floor when we left. "Safe itself, too closed to access"
Decided to get some ice cream on the afternoon, and walked to a near by place to buy it. Tried to walk back "going around the block" and it was impossible. The hotel has tight fence around it, and can only be accessed thru one entrance. And the neighbours were not friendly at all. Plenty of parking. Check in was excellent. Fast and friendly. Suite was roomy and as advertised but smelled like a smoking room. Found a large roach crawling on the inside of the door an later found a spider in the bathroom. Found ash on the ground of the bathroom and a cigarette burn on the shower curtain. Very unfriendly staff. Everybody there! Not even the basics like hallo, thank you and goodbye are used here. Especially the night staff lady was very unfriendly! Was impressed with the room since it had a full kitchen and a fireplace, but walked into the bath area and found a dirty wash cloth in the sink, as though housekeeping got an important phone call while cleaning up. I think this hotel is a good value for the bucks. they have a adequate breakfast for those on the run. the rooms are VERY spacious and have more than an average size kitchen and good size bath. "Love some things, hate some things."
I have stayed at the Guesthouse Suites in Huntsville 10 times or so, usually for a week at a time. I started about 5 years ago because they met all my criteria - breakfast, wi-fi, workout facility and kitchen. Pros: It's quiet there. I hate being woke up by noisy neighbors, people slamming doors, talking loudly as they walk up and down the halls. I […] value my sleep highly when I'm on the road. I like having a kitchen where I can prepare fast and healthy food. I like working out at the Riviera down the street. They have good equipment and I always find someone friendly to spot me on a bench press. Cons: The wi-fi gets slower and more intermittent every time I stay there. Drives me nuts. Everyone has wi-fi now, so this isn't the draw it used to be. I call every time and complain to the office. They'll unplug the routers and plug them back in. It helps for an hour or two, then it's back to the same crummy performance. Speedtest.net says I'm getting about 0.8 Mbps down and 0.0 up. Yuck! This last stay, I was on the far west side of the property, and up against the property fence is a little concrete pad with a basketball hoop. Two sections of the fence were knocked out - about 8 feet worth, and looking through it I could see the projects. Enough said. The AC was out when I got back one night at 10pm. That was the final straw for me. Maintenance came out and had it going within 20 minutes, I give them credit there. The stay at the Guest House Suite Plus, did not meet my expectations. Breakfast was only good on Saturday and Sunday morning. Thursday and Friday, breakfast was not good; there was no friuts or yogurt, this was however present on Saturday and Sunday morning.
