"Stay cation!"
We stumbled across this hotel when my wife said to me, "let's go some place for the weekend and preferably some place that has a pool, so that kids can enjoy themselves". So I immediately thought "road trip", but I didn't want to travel far, and when ever I think road trip, I think of stopping at Cracker Barrel, so I did a search for the nearest location. […] The nearest location to us was in Mt. Arlington, so then I searched for hotels close by, and of all the choices Hilton Garden Inn sounded the most appealing because it was reasonably priced, right in the Rockaway Mall, and they had an indoor pool for the kids. They also offered a full breakfast for just $4 dollars more. Well, I kid you not, everything was great. The hotel was very convenient to everything, the staff was super friendly, and the kids loved the pool. The only thing I would do different is to get a room further away from the pool, the pool smell was little strong for my taste, but other than that everything was perfect. I'll be honest, my wife and I talked about coming back again. We came in to the area because of our hobby and pursued it during the day. The hotel was really nice, convenient for going where we needed and had way more stuff to use or try than we were used to. Heck, there was an excersize room across from our room. "Nice place for a getaway"
Negatives: only 2 luggage carts for large hotel, none available when I checked in. HVAC was difficult to regulate, we were either freezing or warm. Elevators seemed particularly slow. "Extremely satisfied"
The check-in personnel were very friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean and the hours for the exercise room/pool are very convenient. Breakfast was good and the chef/dining room staff were friendly/courteous. The only complaint was lack of a good venting system in the bathroom as the windows tend to fog after a shower. My companion was wheelchair/walker constrained and enjoyed her room and the feeling of independence. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. I enjoyed the fitness facility - wish I had thought to bring my own earphones . "Very convenient"
My fiance and I stayed here overnight to attend a party in Randolph and it was very conveniently located. The surrounding stores and mall were nice in case we needed any last minute items. There was one problem with the bathroom and I was immediately moved to another room and given a complimentary breakfast without having to ask for it.
