Wi-fi didn't work. Beds were uncomfortable. No toothpaste in the bathroom. Overall, pretty bad stay especially for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not at all as advertised. Way over priced for what was provided. Internet in room did not work. Carpet was dirty and stained. Bed had plastic cover that made squishy noises and difficult to sleep. No fridge, no coffe maker, no breakfast just some cereal that was old and stale. Would never stay here again or recommend to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
There was some kind of chemical smell in the room. We got out as early as possible .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel lobby was cluttered and worn. The room was crowded and the carpeting was loose and stained. The complementary breakfast was stale cereal, a muffin and Styrofoam cups for weak coffee or lukewarm water for the tea..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"This place rots"
The rooms have a bad odor they moved us to another smelly room to late to go some where else so we toughed it out we will never backGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good for the price."
Great location. Very close to SPAC. Room was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Suits our needs"
I've stayed at the Grand Union several times now. I always find it to be a good quality, basic motel. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and most importantly, it's within walking distance to the track!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was ok..upon entering room..rug was stained and dirty..musty smell..mattress was wrapped in noisy plastic..nice hot shower..$10 deposit for room key till returned..coffee, tea, donuts, and fruit in AM..Near SPAC..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The motel itself was ok but old and the room very small. The pool was ok and probably the best part of the motel. Stayed there August 3rd for the races and on check in was directed around to the backside of the motel for our room. Tried to find the road back there and couldn't so I had to go back into the front desk and was then told that I had to park […] out front and cut through an alleyway between hotel rooms to get to the other side. Very Strange setup. Then about 3am was woken by someone banging on a room door a couple of rooms down from us. When we went outside in the morning found that there was actually an argument there when we heard the banging and there was broken furniture thrown all around the grounds! Also, with regards to service, asked the motel front desk where we may find a place to go to breakfast we were directed to the motel served continental breakfast of boxed muffins, coffee and cereal. When we explained we wanted to go to a full breakfast restaurant all we got for an answer was downtown (something I could have figured out myself!). The front desk issues were directly related to the fact that the Asian man at the front desk could hardly understand or speak English. Therefore, any chance of service was nonexistent! Would not recommend this motel unless all you care about is just any place to sleep for the night. . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location if you need a place to sleep in Saratoga. Not fancy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The service in general was horrible. So much that my first review couldn't even be published, only because I only said the truth.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The only motel room left."
The rooms are dark and smell of smoke. The grounds are unpleasant. The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable. But this was the only motel/hotel room left in Saratoga Springs for the date in question.Genuine Expedia guest review
Had the air conditioner go in our room. It was a hot, humid night and it woke us up in the middle of sleeping because it was so stuffy. When I called the front desk, no one answered. Walked over to the front office, sign told me to knock on room 17 for service. The guy was miserable, asked me "well what do you want me to do about it"? Eventually he […] switched our room to the next one over. Disappointed in the lack of courtesy. Do yourself a favor and stay at the hotel across the street for a little extra a night! "could have been better"
There were a few issues with our stay. A musty odor as you entered the room was not a good impression. The inability to hook up to the wireless gave the feeling of being disconnected from the world. AC could have been working a bit colder. The outdoor grill was a nice addition but while we were there the table by it was not cleaned. The pool was refreshing […] but closing at 7pm did not give much time to enjoy it. We had a great time visiting the city and the concert was awesome!!! Saratoga Springs is beautiful and clean and we will visit again, just not at this hotel Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed here before so I knew what I was getting. The rooms are adequate-very old school- but they are clean an comfortable. The pool was great-a little chilly due to all the rain. The breakfast/coffee was nice to have in a place this small.Genuine Expedia guest review
You are getting a cheap room in a great location. The rooms are what you pay for, nothing spectacular. The Staff was very helpful and I was within walking distance to the performing arts center. The Soda in the vending machine was from 2011 and 8 of 10 options were sold out. Bring your own beverages. The room was clean and comfortable enough, but it's […] an older looking place. Again, you get what you pay for and if you want a cheaper room this is a great spot. I would recommend it to anybody who is looking to just get a place to crash at night. Overall - disappointing. Room was clean, location was excellent. Service was provided by a single employee with no backup. Details: 1) no hair dryer; 2) no ice bucket; 3) air conditioner was loud; 4) automatic wake up was broken. This is a medium sized motel. on the night I stayed (Friday), there were only six rooms with a car outside.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK, old motel rooms."
Shower door did not close so there was a huge puddle on the floor after each shower. We asked them to take a look at it and fix it or give us another room. No one came to fix it and the only other room available was very musty smelling.Genuine Expedia guest review
Booked this romm as a place to stay after DMB concert at Spac. Was within walking distance. Was way overpriced, but was adequate for the need. The room smelled musty, but not of cigarrettes (non-smoking room)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old school Saratoga Motel."
Old School Saratoga Motel. I have stayed there before. Not a bad place. Rooms are clean. Its nothing fancy thats for sure. Parking is great right in front of your room. Easy to take stuff in and out of room. Good rates. Other Hotels closer to town get booked up and are more expensive. Nice easy walk into town.Genuine Expedia guest review
Older, but well maintained motel. Office had a moldy smell, but room smelled OK. Nice bathroom. Nice locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
All went well except when it came time to check out - the room key was stuck in the lock in the door and would not come out!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you don't have high standards, this place is ok for a one night stay. The bed is comfortable, there is a flat screen tv. However, the room is very dated, the shower didn't drain, the lamps filled with dust, musty smell in lobby and room.Genuine Expedia guest review
Room was musty. Should have been aired out. Window couldn't be opened or locked. Sink was clogged. Coffee maker, iron and microwave not in room as advertised. Room too small and overcrowded with furniture to open drawers in bureau or move around room. Blankets almost as rough as steel wool. Bathroom floor not washed. Dirty/narrow passage to get to room […] in back past service cart in hall. Hard to carry or pull luggage through or around the building on narrow sidewalk. Room in back and some distance from vehicle to get luggage to room if disabled. Coffee not ready for breakfast at 8 AM. Breakfast only had cereal. Not a two star quality. Price high for one star motel without amenities Never been charged a $10 refundable deposit for a room key before. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean and adequate for sleeping space. That's all."
Very small space. Reminded me of The Shining. Wondered how may people had been killed here. Ok for a drunken night in Saratoga. 15 minute walk to downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"If you just need a place for the night...."
We have stayed here a few times now.... some of the rooms are very comfortable and if you are looking for a reasonably priced overnight place to stay, I would recommend Grand Union. We are usually doing a six hour drive to pick up our child from college and just need a clean room to sleep before turning around and heading back home. Prior to this last […] stay, the staff has been wonderful and the accommodations fine. However, this last trip we seemed to be the only people at the hotel - and we definitely felt it. Instant coffee? really? Didn't even try the free wifi this time - the last time I never could connect. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Initial desk clerk very helpful, bubbly and friendly. The morning after desk clerk no personality, uncaring of guest bluntly said no coffee when asked if there was any. Won't stay there again nor tell anyone else to.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for 1 night!"
The Grand Union Motel was a great choice for our brief, one night stay after a night on the town!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was adequate, had to wait for a manager to open in the morning to geet a cup of coffee. Trash was not emptied during our stay an d fresh linens were not provided. It was quiet, but would most likely not return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Actually worth the price"
this place was a fair deal. Its worth up to $99 per night. If you pay more you will be disappointed. If you pay less you will be happy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good, cheap motel"
This place has gotten many horrible reviews, but I enjoyed my stay here at the Grand Union Motel. It's cheap and near downtown Saratoga, the room and beds were clean, and the bathroom looked brand new. The people at the front desk were extremely smiley and friendly. "Poor - good location"
Disappointed at the condition of the room. The breakfast room was a mess and the food was disgusting and unappetizing. The hotel badly in need of a makeover and renovation. Aside from the location, I would rate it POORGenuine Hotels.com guest review
What a dreadful place! It must have been built in the 50s and has not been updated since. The room smelled bad; I had to ask for a bar of soap for the shower; towels were awful, etc. When leaving I noticed a sock or something under the bed.......afraid to look any further!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the room smelled like musty and a little urine! nice people and descent location but would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Do not stay in this hotel!!!"
Our experience at the Grand Union Hotel was awful. The first room we checked into had black mildew in the sink and water would not go down the drain. I approached the front desk to ask for a different room only to be turned down initially. The gentleman at the desk eventually placed us in another room. Fortunately this room did not have any problems […] with the sink. However the smell of the room was putrid. It was so bad that our clothes actually smelled after showering and leaving the room. I have stayed in many hotels that had less than favorable reviews and had no complaints. Usually you pay for what you get, but that was not the case at all here. I would have preferred to sleep in a tent outside of the room. Our last night visiting the area we found out from a cab driver that the hotel is used to shelter people who are not well off during the off season. While this is commendable, it does make me further question the overall cleanliness of the hotel. In addition to the issues with the cleanliness of the hotel, the nice pool you see in the pictures was not open. I understand that this is a seasonal luxury, but I would think June is considered in season. This review is actually pretty generous as I am not a mean spirited person. Let’s just say that I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Dingy - Not worth $$"
Plastic mattress covers do not make for a great night's sleep. Only stayed here 'cause everything else Expedia listed in Saratoga Springs was sold out - which was not actually the case. Quite a number of hotel signs indicated vacancy.Genuine Expedia guest review
"room smelled like urine"
Not bad if you dont want to get any sleep, room smelled, bed very uncomfortable. Was probably a very nice place 50 yrs ago. Very close to downtown n SPAC. I personally would never stay there again but everyone needs to experience this place once!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Under the beds were wet, the bed was broke, the bathroom fan did not work, and the heater was VERY loud-we had to keep it off all night.Genuine Expedia guest review
We rented a parlor suite with kitchen microwave etc. One room had 2 beds and no tv the second room had a bed no head board and a tv. There was no kitchen no microwave. The room was on the back side of the motel almost alley like. Would not stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
You get what you pay for. Motel, not hotel, is clean, fairly convenient and pretty outdaed although the bed was fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Probably oddest hotel experience I've ever had!"
I arrived at the hotel to find everything dark, and no apparent office. I drove around the place for 15 minutes trying to figure out if I had the right address. But the sign said the hotel name....I called my husband at home, got a phone number, called it...rolled over to voice mail. Drove into the parking lot again and saw a sign on a window that said […] "If you need help call Mark at 518-XXX-XXXX." The hotel name was not on the sign nor was it on the window. I had prepaid the room so I called the number....Mark answered and told me where he had hidden my room key. I was the only person in the place, guest or employee. The room was fine, but I guess when they say "off season" they mean it! I almost gave up and only didn't because it was 9:30 and I was really tired! Give this one a pass and stay somewhere where real human beings are there to check you in! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
