"Resort fee"
Resort fee of $25/night came as quite a surprise, did not see the value in regards to this "gimmick". Just another way for the hotel to have additional revenue! "Nice Location but not what I expected."
This hotel is somewhat comfortable for those who are not worried about the costs. There are extra resort charges and parking fees that are not small. There restaurant is very, very expensive. The rooms are small and the windows do not open, even if you have a partial view. The spa closes at 6:00pm and when I asked for a tour at 5:00pm they flat out […] told me "no; look at the pictures on the internet." I enjoyed being on the beach and like the local restaurants. Poe's is walking distance and has the best ever burgers. But I think I would stay at a more reasonable hotel. The morning coffee service, just does not make up for the resort and parking fees. "Better options"
The rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller! Our room( on the 8th floor) was constantly noisy with outside fans. There was a ridiculous room charge of 25 dollars per day as well as a charge of 25 dollars per day for parking so I would seek other options . "Great location - way overpriced"
Very convenient for the beach and some entertainment - restaurants and some night life. The staff were kind enough but they had messed a few things up which tainted our impression from the get-go. Our room still had a few left-overs from the previous guests. When I mentioned it at the front, they were apologetic and immediately changed our room. We […] had requested an infant bed for our 3 year old which was not ready when we go there. When I mentioned that - they immediately brought up a crib and bottle warmer - even though they had met my daughter already and knew that she did not need a 'crib' or bottle - but an extra cot. The worst though was the thin walls in the hotel. Each night we were woken up by partying next door followed by an all too clear - xoxo session. For the price we paid - which does not include the additional resort fees etc / or breakfast - we would have been much better off at some of the other hotels we have stayed at in the past. "Full Ocean View is NOT a full view of the ocean."
If I had paid about half of what I did at this hotel, I would have certainly given it 5 stars. However they state they are a 5 diamond hotel and Hotels.com has it at 4 1/2 which is overrated. It is 4 at best and I would rate it more like a 3 1/2. Its very nice and is an old hotel that has been updated. The rooms are very small (especially bathroom). […] The worst part was we booked a "full ocean" view room and on arrival received the 2nd to far back side that you can kind of see the ocean, but not the greatest. Speaking with the front desk I was told that you need to get the "Total" ocean view in order to have a balcony and look out. We were dissapointed but the hotel is literally right on the ocean and the pool is very nice (despite it being rather small and busy). One Ocean has a great location on the water and you can walk to numerous bars and restaurants. The only downside was the lack of hot water. My shower was luke warm at best. "Loved this hotel."
Wish I'd had more time to visit the gorgeous spa. I love being able to park my car and just walk around an area with so many great restaurants and bars and live music is definitely a plus.
