Shorebreak Hotel, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel

We enjoyed our stay at the Shorebreak. The location provides immediate access to all the Huntington Beach events and nightlife. The hotel does a great job welcoming you and your pet. It's hard to describe the hotel as it seems a cross between a surfer hotel and an upscale hotel. Clientele ranged from young to old. Hotel serves a wine reception each […] afternoon, has great orange saltwater taffy available, and doggy treats. The Zimzala restaurant served decent food and has 2 happy hours. Housekeeping did okay with keeping the room clean but lacked in consistently providing toiletries and towels. The front desk personnel were always very courteous and when contacted for additional towels or toiletries, they were prompt (within 10 minutes) to deliver each and every time. I didn't feel the valet rates were outrageous but I can see where people wouldn't share this view. I'm just used to high rates in Chicago. Read more

Stayed at the Shorebreak for 2 nights and enjoyed everything about it. The only thing I would change is the beds. Although comfortable they were only doubles and I'm used to sleeping on a queen or larger. The location of the hotel to the beach was fantastic and I would stay here again in a second.

Everything about Shorebreak was fabulous. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The hotel, even though in the heart of Huntington Beach, was very quiet. Location was fantastic. We valeted our car at the hotel, and didn't need it for 2 days because everything is within walking distance. Everyone made us feel welcome and were so helpful.

We enjoyed watching the surfers from our balcony in the morning. It is in perfect downtown location to walk around and hang out at the beach. The staff were all so nice and prompt. We traveled with our 2 yr old and 7 mo old and not once felt like we were out of place, they are family friendly. Definitely recommend!!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Addressed all of our requests with efficiency and a smile always. Stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. The private balcony overlooking the ocean was nearly the same size as the suite!!

My husband and I brought our 11 month old son to HB for his first glimpse of sand and ocean. We chose to upgrade to an ocean view room for a small fee; we loved watching the surfers in the morning for the small patio. My husband and I stayed at the Shorebreak for a mini-vacay for 5 nights due to price. Front desk staff is friendly and attendant and so is the valet. Serious lack of service from housekeeping. The 2nd day, the housekeeping didn't even come. I called down for towels, soap, trash to be emptied. I angered them because the next morning, they came down, […] knocked at 8am to clean my room. I find that simply rude. Complain about something, they will make sure you regret it. One of the housekeepers stared us down after that every time we walked through the lobby. Lots of friendly staff but don't anger the housekeepers. The room has basic amenities. Nothing special, not bad either. The hotel restaurant, Zimzala, is mediocre at best. We went there for dinner around 8:30pm on a Monday night. There were 5 other tables, definitely not busy. They had to replace the dirty appetizer plates on our table. My husband ordered a skirt steak and I the sea bass. The food took longer than expected, the manager came out to tell us that the skirt steak takes a little longer to cook. For all of you cooks out there, you know that's not true. The fish was overcooked and chewy. I couldn't even eat it. I just had them take it away. The manager came out again, apologized, told me that he agreed it was overcooked and said the sous chef was cooking. That didn't make me feel better. The location is perfect. Right downtown with shops and restaurants, right across from the beach and pier. Read more

I was very impressed with this hotel. It was a dog-friendly hotel but it was VERY clean. The dogs we saw were adorable and were very well-behaved. I wanted to be right on the beach and was not familiar with Huntington Beach so I didn't realize that an oceanfront room meant that you had Pacific Coast Highway between you and the beach, so that was somewhat […] of a disappointment. The hotel itself, however including the room, the hotel, and the staff were outstanding. That alone would earn it 5 stars, but there were a couple of drawbacks - I already mentioned the location. We stayed at the Shorebreak over Thanksgiving. The hotel was beautiful, decorated in a surfing theme, and in a perfect location near the HB pier. The staff were efficient, friendly and motivated. The hotel was also pet friendly, and we really enjoyed having our dog along with us. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again.

Booked this hotel at the very last minute on our drive to Huntington Beach - could not believe how lucky we got! The location, right on the beach, one block from Main St and the Pier, was perfect and the staff were helpful and very friendly. The hotel is new and the surf themed decor and art work is very stylish and the rooms very clean, spacious and […] comfortable. The only reason we would not give an overall 5, is the 'pet friendly' nature of the hotel, it did not affect our stay this time but there were a number of dogs staying and that may become an issue over time. A very nice hotel with attentive staff and a great onsite bar. The only downside for us was some dog biscuits left on the carpet in the room, presumably from a previous guest. Other than that the hotel was first rate and I would definitely stay again. Great location in the centre of Huntingdon.

Det var lite dyrare än de andra hotellen i området men vi tyckte det absolut var värt det. Hotellet var snyggt och fräscht och personalen var väldigt trevliga och gav bra service. De lånade ut boogieboards och bjöd på vin. Läget helt perfekt precis vid piren/stranden och ett kvarter från huvudgatan. Bästa hotellet på vår rundresa i Californien!

Vi hade tur och fick ett sista minuten erbjudande för två nätter. Annars hade rumspriserna legat klart utanför vår budget. Vid incheckningen blev vi dessutom uppgraderade till ett rum med viss havsutsikt. Hotellet är modernt och har ett kanonläge vid stranden nära piren i huntington med gångavstånd till nöjeskvarteren. Rummet var rent och fräsch och […] personalen hjälpsam.Vi fick b.la låna en mikrovågsugn för att hetta upp en värmekudde. I priset ingick ingen frukost, men man kunde betala extra för den.
