"room dirty , pool you can't use"
I stayed at the Holiday Inn with my son on New Years Eve, I live in Somerville so we stayed there to do something fun like go swimming.The pool was not open during the day the hours were 6:30 AM -10:00 AM and 4:00 PM - till 9:00. My plan was to eat breakfast, we did it was OK only because I had a free coupon for breakfast other wise it was terrible. […] Than we were going to swim before checking out. My 11 year old son went to the front desk to see what time the pool was going to open and they told him it was closing in ten minutes. He and I was very disappointed and checked out before the check out time. The manager said we could come back to use the pool at 4:00. "Never again!"
Very poor service. I had to ask four times for them to turn the heat on in the exercise room at 11AM on Sunday. Someone finally came over at 11:30 and the problem still wasn't fixed. My internet was out and it couldn't be restored and their business center consisted of one computer in the main lobby which was in constant use. The hotel bar was closed […] Saturday night for a private party. We checked in around 8pm Saturday night and no one to help with our luggage. "Hotel is in a terrible location."

"Somerville Holiday allows smoking inside"
They allow indoor smoking.. the room was billed to have a sleep sofa.. the mattress was worn and flat as a pancake.. next day we left the linens on the floor and closed up the sofa. "Poor service, bad neighborhood far from schools"
I booked this hotel based on star rating and advertised proximity to Universities in Cambridge. The closeness may be related to how the crow flies, but not at all by car or walking - not that I believe that I would reach any of the schools alive if I walked in the neighborhood... The surrounding neighborhood is downright shady, so don't even consider […] this hotel unless you have a reliable car. The hotel's building is OKish - a la par with older Holiday Inn properties. The only nice part of the hotel is the newly-renovated pool, but check on its limited opening hours! Service is very poor, hotel food is bad, and managers are rude. "Great hotel, bad management."
It was lousy. We got no sleep the last night because of a party next door, which began at 2AM. We complained to the front desk but nothing happened. We called again and the front desk actually argued with me saying they could not find a party. I can barely hear the front desk over the phone because the party was so loud! I told them to come to my room […] because the party must be there since it is so lound in my room. Anyway, even after the front desk finally found the party it continued. Additionally, when we atre in the restaurant the service was absent. "Clean the Sheets"

"Try another hotel-not worth the money."
I selected this hotel over multiple other options in Boston due to the fact that the hotel had a pool and whirlpool. When I arrived both were closed due to construction. My room was in an odd location, even though the hotel did not appear to be filled to capacity and there was this weird rumbling sound all night. I never determined where the rumbling […] came from. I only managed to sleep for four hours, and I am an eight hour or more person. Needless to say the next time I will stay in an alternate location, and if I am choosing due to the ability to use a pool and whirlpool I may call before booking. "Not a Good Parent's Stash"
We REALLY wanted to like this hotel! We had our first baby right before Thanksgiving and so my parents and sister came to town to cerebrate the holiday with us. This hotel is 1.5 miles from our house so it seemed the perfect place to put the family now that our guest room is a nursery. We were also hoping to put my wife's family there at Christmas. On […] the plus side, my family was very insistent that the staff was very nice, apologetic and accommodating and that they no issues whatsoever with service. On the down side, the rooms smelled musty, my mom dropped something and reached to get it and a mouse trap snapped on her finger from behind a nightstand. The shower in the room backed up and disgusting stuff came up the drain - they were switched into a new room and the same thing happened. The third room was OK. In all rooms the HVAC system was super loud and kept my mom awake (along with fear of mice.) At breakfast my sister was served spoiled cottage cheese that was obviously past its prime. The waitstaff was super nice but still it smelled bad and she even nibbled to be sure and it was spoiled. The hotel rates are good for the Boston area but the location is bad if you'll be on foot at all. I think the hotel is OK for a one night, last minute stay but if you are spending a few days or have guests coming it would be better to spend a little more and sleep better. "Not recommended"
Had to wait until 5:00 until the room was ready; had to wait half an hour to enter the restaurant for breakfast, then had to wait for the buffet; provided pillows and towels for two (we had 4), and had to go down to housekeeping to get them ourselves; no newspapers available on the weekend (told to walk a block down the street to a convenience store). […] When I first called, was told the hotel was near the subway- it was actually 4 to 5 block thru a "iffy" neighborhood.- and ended up using cabs. Bottom line I ended up staying here during a 2 day Boston visit and needed a surface parking lot (3 18 foot kayaks on the roof). This was the closest to town I could find. "Give it a miss"
Girl at check in desk, made us feel like everything was an effort. She was reluctant to answer our questions about services and facilities. 2 lamps in the room did not work but maintenance could not fix them or replace them, so we had very little light. The windows did not have solid curtains that covered the windows, so we had the city lights shining […] in all night, then in the morning, the early morning sun blazed in! Dinner in the restaurant was sent back uneaten (they did not charge for it). Breakfast next morning was edible - if you could get served. Service was very slow, then part of breakfast arrived, impossibly sow to get rest, even after many requests, cutlery forgotten. "Für mehrtägige Städtetour absolut ok."
Das Zimmer war groß und sauber. Die Ausstattung zwar einfach, aber in Ordnung. Zum Übernachten für eine Städtetour gut geeignet, da nahe an der Innenstadt. Die Umgebung des Hotels ist allerdings etwas "schmuddelig". Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier übernachten.Genuine Expedia guest review
