"Bad weekend due to NBA All Star game"
Unfortunately our family vacation overlapped with the NBA All Star game. In addition to all of Houston being booked up and rates being doubled, the Omni Westside was full of guests who were looking to party and get rowdy late in to the night. We had guests across the hall who were sitting outside their room drinking from liquor bottles, smoking pot, […] and in and out of the room around 4-5 AM. Also were people in the parking garage sitting in their car smoking pot while scantily clad women leaned in to their car to talk. "Paper Thin"
The walls are paper thin! We could hear our neighbors talking ALL NIGHT LONG. The TV was on in their room and people in the halls partying kept us up all night. If you want to get sleep, do not stay at this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Luxury near my family"
The hotel was very nice. The atrium and downstairs is very attractive and welcoming. The food and food service was wonderful. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. The only downside and hardly noticable is the rooms are dated and need to be updated, however they are very clean and the beds are confortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Staff is great - meets every need efficiently"
The only problem with my room was that the heating did not work properly the first night. I called guest services and someone was there within 10 minutes. The problem was fixed quickly, and I slept in comfort for the rest of the stay. Valet service was especially good. Room service got morning coffee to the room as requested. "nice hotel; some unfortunate interruptions"
All-in-all, I was fairly impressed with our stay at the Omni Houston Westside. The rooms were nice, with clean, high-quality linens and a well-appointed bath. The lobby area is quite beautiful, with a pond stocked with live and very curious Koi. One thing that really stood out, though, was the food, which was superb. Unfortunately, our stay was marred […] by two things: one, we were woken up repeatedly between 3-4AM by some teen boys carousing, slamming doors and screaming profanities in the hallway outside our door. We called the front desk, but there wasn't much they could do by the time they arrived. While this isn't the Omni's fault, I have noticed that hotels tend to keep "families" all in one area, and I wish they would realize that "parents with infants" and "unsupervised teenagers" shouldn't be lumped in the same category. The other unpleasantness was a live cockroach in our room--but this is Houston, and I understand that such critters are a challenge to fully eradicate. "Convenient and comfortable"
The location was great. It's within driving distance of food, shopping, and freeway access. The inside was very nice and was surprised even with the reviews and pictures. The outside was not like in its pictures but location was fantastic. Room was very comfortable and definately a 4 star hotel.
