Located 2 blocks from the Galleria Mall, Hotel Derek is 1 mile from the River Oaks area in Houston, Texas. Rice University, Rice Village and the eclectic Montrose District are less than 5 miles from the hotel.
Hotel Features.
The hotel's VinBar restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This corporate-friendly hotel provides a self-serve business center and 5 meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 500 guests. The 24-hour fitness gym features treadmills, cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, and elliptical trainers. The pet-friendly Hotel Derek features an outdoor pool with a chrome-accented waterfall. Other hotel amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi and a free shuttle to attractions within 3 miles. Guests can order room service from early morning to 11 PM nightly.
Guestrooms.
The 312 loft-style guestrooms at the Hotel Derek feature platform beds with Egyptian-cotton linens, down pillows and duvets. High-speed wired and wireless Internet access is complimentary. Guestrooms feature 28-inch flat-panel TVs with premium channels, iPod docking stations and minibars. In-room safes accommodate laptops. Oversized glass-topped desks are matched with ergonomic chairs.

A sunning terrace with cushioned teak chaise lounges surrounds a secluded outdoor pool with a waterfall. Offering abundant light, the 24-hour fitness center includes treadmills with individual TVs, cardio and weight-training equipment, yoga mats, towels, and purified water.
The adjacent River Oaks neighborhood offers quiet, tree-lined streets and lovely gardens for jogging or walking. Two blocks away, Houston's Galleria has an indoor ice-skating rink.
Memorial Park, two miles from Hotel Derek, offers myriad recreational opportunities, including an exercise trail, mountain biking, bird watching, sand volleyball courts, a tennis center, playing fields, and picnic facilities. A public golf course with a lighted driving range, putting greens, and a clubhouse is also within the park.

Nice hotel convenient to Galleria area in Houston. Unfortunately, I experienced horrific service that would even be offensive at a much cheaper hotel. At this price level, they should do better. Room did not get cleaned, towels did not get replaced, and I received horrible service in the restaurant. "Fancy hotel but service just okay"
I came here for a business trip and it was a good location for where I needed to go. The hotel offered a shuttle service which came in handy. However, they failed to clean my room while I was out and I was disappointed when I came back after a long day. "great hotel"
Wife and i got the kidos watched over night and wanted a relaxing night. This hotel was perfect. The staff was very friendly and acomidating. We requested a higher floor and they gave us the top floor we had a great view of downtown. We ate else where but did have drinks in the bar which was nice. It was comfortable and there where others having fun […] and drinking but just shy of too many people. The rooms were very nice. A very modern Motif. Large and comfortable. They were very clean. The only complaint i could make is with valet. We called down to have my vehicle pulled around and when we got down it was parked off to the side so close to the hedges i couldnt even open my door and i had to track down someone to give me my keys. Instead if a polite greeting he simply handed my keys and then stood waiting for a tip. Not even a thank you when he got it or open the door for my wife or take my bag. Everything was great, except for 2 things. 1) No self parking. I hate having to pay extra per day on top on an already expensive room rate. Having the option to self-park would be wonderful. I also don't appreciate having to wait for my car when I am ready to get going. 2) Beds were realy hard. I always get a room with 2 doubles because one bed is always […] softer than the other. This time they were both harder than the other... Aside from the 2 negatives I enjoyed my stay very much.
