"Should have paid more & gone to another hotel"
1. The hotel is undergoing construction so it does not make it for a very inviting atmosphere when you walk-in. 2. The person at the front desk was having a problem with the computer system when we checked in, and paid no attention to me nor at my questions - he has rude. 3. The carpet in my room has dirty with dark brown spots when we walked in. We […] later found out this hotel allows pets, so this may be part of the reason why. 4. Overall, the proice was right, but we got what we paid for. I would not stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"too bad you can't pick your room!"
only problem was room directly next to elevator -- a bit noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A/c and bed pillows"
The a/c in the room did not work. Maintenance came to try and fix but was unable to make a difference. They did bring me a fan. They told me they were in the process of replacing all the units. There were 6 pillows on the bed all were feather pillows. With that many pillows there should be atleast 2 foam pillows. I had to call housekeeping to bring […] me some. Most people need support for their heads and feather pillows do not offer that support. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs work"
AC did not keep room comfortable. Poor workmanship trying to repair sheetrock damage around AC vents. Hot water valve in bathroom loose on countertop. Breakfast food not restocked or fresh; buffet out of bacon, out of french toast, grits dried out, outmeal dried out. Very dissppointing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not What I Expected"
This just wasn't what I expected from a Doubletree Hotel. If Im going to pay their prices then I want something more than powdered eggs when I order breakfast and if I am getting powdered eggs and ordering breakfast for 2, I should have to pay almost $60. Our breakfast consisted of eggs, potatoes, bacon, toast and pancakes with OJ to drink. I will never […] stay there again nor recommend that location to my friends. The carpets in the hallways needed cleaning and they do not need to be charging for internet service or $17.99 for a movie rental. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Some good, some bad"
Our room was comfortable, but somewhat dated. We had engineering come up twice...once they said they had fixed the light in the bathroom that was out and once to actually change the lightbulb. No hot water the second night. Said that it would be fixed by the morning. It wasn't. Tried to get a drink at the bar after a night out. It closed at 10:00. Seemed […] kind of early for Saturday night. Had to sign a "no party" document. Wasn't that difficult because we were all in our 50s. Procedure for the weekend, they said. Hotel very well-located with spacious suites, and employees polite and helpful. Nice big pool where possible to swim laps, but snack bar and area not kept up. General hotel physical plant is worn and needs spruced up. Variable hot water in shower and tub drain not draining. Dingy carpet and lighting, but seemed clean. Disappointed since a year prior […] had suite much more recently remodeled and all working well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, not very modern appliances."
Good location to Galleria mall and nice pool for kids to swim. Friendly staff. A bit disappointed on room decor / upkeep, very surprised given Galleria area. Restaurant closed on weekend evenings - a bit of a surprise, but then no so much given area's numerous quality restaurants. Kitchen appliances looked at least 20-25 years old and not well maintained. […] Room safe didn't work (needed battery replaced, I called front desk, but no word or note if they fixed it). Dining chairs had no support. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"LOUD teens at pool LATE!"
We visited for our anniversary and our room was very nice. Staff was very friendly. We did have a poolside room and it was EXTREMELY loud. Even after 10:30 at night there was a large group of teenage girls that kept screaming for hours! If we had had our children with us I would have been even more upset. As it was, it was very hard to have a romantic […] evening with all that silly "oh-no-don't-push-me-in-the-pool-again" screaming. Understandable in the afternoon but not after 10:30 at night. We had to sign a "no-party" statement for our room, guess they should have included the pool area! Get a room away from the pool and you'll be fine! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not worth it"
Very disappointed with the quality of this hotel. It was adequate, but no more. For the price, it was very much in outdated condition, and I would not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good experience in Houston in the begining 2012"
The location is fantastic, close the Galleria Mall, famous restaurants in the area and close to the medical center about allergic and orthopedic clinics. The parking lot service Is confortable, and the breakfast in the coffe shop it¨s wonderfool.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Average Hotel"
The receptionists are very friendly, the rooms are average... and that is about all I can say. This hotel has been here for a very long time and needs a major refreshing. There are other better choices for the money or even for 30 dollars more per night in the area. Better to pay a little more and enjoy your stay much more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Doubletree Guest Suites Galleria-Horrible"
We arrived late evening and the Desk attendant was not very nice. For the Galleria area the hotel was not kept up the bathroom toilet flushed slow you had to stand there and hold the handle down, the shower was moldy and the employees were rude. I am a hilton honnors member which is why I choose this hotel , but I will not be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Room for improvement"
The hotel is in a great area of Houston and some of the staff are quite helpful when guests have questions/issues. The suites are large, and the rooms are equipped with flat screen televisions. However, the room and hotel decor are outdated and need to be remodeled relatively soon, particularly the kitchens. Also, there are hidden costs ($18/night for […] parking) -- this charge needs to be mentioned at check-in instead of after the fact when checking-out. Finally, on the Saturday night of my stay, the room below me was having a huge party. I called the front desk to to ask if they could intervene yet the loud party continued until about 4:30 in the morning. I talked with the front desk again later in the morning to make sure the guests below would not be returning for an additional night. at this time, i talked with a different hotel employee who was extremely nice, and they assured me that the loud guests would be checking out that day. To compensate me for my troubles, the hotel employee gave me two complimentary breakfast tickets, which was appreciated. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"This time it was disappointing"
I have stayed at this hotel before and it's usually good. This time, no welcoming cookie. Housekeeper was lazy, would change my towels every day, even when I asked to use them again to pollute less. One day she even left my room open :( and requests to the careline took around an hour to respond.Genuine Expedia guest review
"cleaning crew and front desk"
I left my hotel room for at least 7 hours and upon my return I found no new towels and the bed was still tossed. It was a real let down to be an executive suite. I did like the view and the design of the suite. The initial front desk service attendant was nice, however when I went to check out the secondary male service attendant showed minimal attention […] to the customer, I had to make a blank trip upstairs and come back and then go back up because he did not take the time to listen to what I was telling him. However the overall stay was quiet and wonderful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not impressed"
My problem with this hotel is it costs way too much for an old building. Clearly everything is old. They tried to update the rooms but the work is laughable it is so bad.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Doubletree near the Galleria"
While the hotel was clean and the staff was very courteous, there are some factors that on future trips would make me book another hotel. First, the biggest problem was the bed. It sagged so much that I didn't fall asleep til 7am, at the foot of the bed. Secondly, I found it annoying that they wanted a good sized extra fee to park in their garage. Which […] hotels don't have a parking lot? Third, the traffic around the Galleria during the day is undescribable, and I have lived in NYC for 33 years. Brought back memories. However, the staff did a first rate job in all areas, friendly, helpful, and very polite. Just a matter of preference, I guess. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"tiny window & loud door"
We only needed a room for 1 night so it wasn't that big of a deal that we got one of the unusually shaped rooms that are positioned by the elevator. The room entry door shut very loudly - slammed, in fact - and there was a big 1" tall gap under the door so elevator/corridor noise could be clearly heard. Why the big gap under the door?? The tiny window […] made the room dark and dreary, made worse by the fact that, due to our room's location in the overall hotel layout, other rooms could look right into our room if we had opened the drapes. I would recommend the hotel, but not the particular room we got right off the elevator, in the weird little quarter-circle area behind the tall concrete walls that go up the exterior of the hotel. I'm sure each floor has at least one room shaped just like this. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER!!!..."
Telephone lines were dead for my whole stay, my bussines contacts could not contacted me, no one gave a proper or smart excuse or reason... They kept saying it would just take a while to correct it and never worked properly again... To be honest, I just had to stay there because there was no more availability than that...Genuine Expedia guest review
"Disapointed for a 4 star hotel"
The room didnt look like the pics and wasnt very bright in a lighting aspect. the tv's were old and the bathroom was small for an executive suite. nice very and good service, but they make you pay for parking which i thought was silly. food was solid, service with a smile. "Doubletrees - not Hilton!"
Recently stayed at Doubletrees Galleria area of Houston for 12 nights. It was a trip for hospital visits so it was important to be comfortable and have more than your average amenities of a hotel room. I selected a suite so that we could cook meals and spread out comfortably with two rooms rather than all in one with just a microwave. The kitchen was […] old and dingy. The cooker hood did not take cooking odours away and the fan merely blew cooking smells around the room. These odours remained in the room for the rest of the stay. Prior to this the room had a damp/mouldy smell to it. We had to request pots and pans and were given two pots, one fry pan and a grill pan. Implements were of poor quality and sparse. No decent knives for cooking at all. Tea was never replenished although coffee was. The bathroom had no air extractor. The ceiling in the bathroom was mouldy and sink was cracked. There was hair on the floor on our arrival and it never really got well cleaned throughout the stay. Towards the end of our stay the windows were constantly running with condensation and the surround of the windows were noted to be covered in mould....... The convenience of the hotel was great for us as was the space of this type of room however I did not feel the hotel rated anywhere near the ratings I'd seen on this website - not based on the room we had. I would NOT recommend this hotel for anyone who has a preference for clean, modern and well kept accommodation. A charge for WIFI in the room these days is unacceptable! We didn't bother paying it as you could use free wifi in the lounge on 2nd floor - this remained usable in the rooms too! They charged $16 plus tax for parking including the day we checked out by 8am! Very pricey for guests in the hotel for 12 nights! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
