The décor of the 947 contemporary guestrooms consists of rich hues of chocolate, silver and beige. All rooms at the Hyatt Regency Houston feature pillowtop mattresses with Egyptian cotton sheets and down comforters. Rooms also come equipped with work desks and 32-inch high definition flat panel televisions. Accommodations offer elegant wrought-iron and glass-topped desks with ergonomic chairs and high-speed Internet access for a fee.

Shula's Steak House - Lobby level restaurant and bar. Sports memorabilia on the walls and casual sports atmosphere. Menus are presented on hand-painted footballs. Steakhouse serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, children's menu.
Spindletop - This restaurant offers city views. Created by a team of award-winning chefs, Spindletop's menu focuses on fresh American seafood with a southwest flair designed to showcase the produce and ingredients from local and regional purveyors. Open for dinner only from Tuesday to Saturday from 6 p.m.
A roomy mirrored 24-hour fitness center at the Hyatt Regency Houston offers guests cardio and weight training equipment, six TVs, towels, purified water, vending machines, and restrooms. A large lap pool on the sixth floor is surrounded by a roomy sundeck and offers sweeping views of the Houston skyline. Bright-blooming azaleas and trees add a garden feel. There are plenty of chaise lounges and towels.
Houston's downtown YMCA is three blocks from the hotel and offers guests two aerobics studios, indoor/outdoor tracks, four-lane lap pool, squash and racquetball courts, two basketball courts, volleyball, saunas, steam rooms, and a complete cardio center (surcharges apply).
The 18-hole Memorial Municipal Golf Course is located three miles from the hotel. It has a rolling terrain, mature pine trees line its fairways, and several water hazards make for a challenging game (surcharges apply). "Disappointing at this price point"
Overall the hotel was in decent shape. The room was small but clean. The locking latch had been broken off the door. At 1am and again at 2 am I was jarred awake by a drunken woman calling and claiming her husband had been checked out of my room earlier and his things were in my closet. She claimed hotel staff was on the way up to collect his things. […] My assurance that the only thing in my closet was my pistol seemed to cure that issue. Both times I was at the desk there were guests arguing and complaining loudly. Overall a poor experience. Shula's was a pleasant counterpoint to the rest of the hotel. "Overall very nice"
The hotel staff was very professional and courteous, going above and beyond. I have rarely stayed in a hotel this large with so many rooms. The design of the building is amazing. The overall condition of the hotel and room was very good. You could tell they put a lot of work into the finishes during their recent renovation. The only possible complaints […] were in the entertainment system and bathroom within the room. Flat screen televisions were provided within the room; however, programming was analog and several channels were snowy. Given the class of hotel and the attention to detail elsewhere, you would expect a little more. The other item was the design of the renovated bathroom. Bathtubs have been replaced with very nice tile showers; however, the showers do not have doors, only a glass partition covering about 2/3 of the opening between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. Use of the shower caused significant water to be spilled onto the smooth tile of the bathroom, which became quite slippery. Also, the moisture in the room combined with the wall paper and other finishes left the room smelling musty. It appeared that the bathroom had been recently repainted, so it was impossible to tell if the smell was of new paint or mildew, but I would suspect this was a localized issue within this room because no similar smells were present in any other part of the room or the corridors. My stay at Hyatt downtown Houston was all that I could have wished for. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was most accommodating from the valet parking attendants to the restaurant servers. "Really nice Hotel"
Nice clean rooms, low noise aircon, top class elevator service and nice breakfast buffet. Parking is extra 27$ per day WiFi is 10$ extra per day - but it works. The surroundings are tall buildings, but not much to see on the streets.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
