Excellent Hotel. Would go back again. Only knock was a very hard uncomfortable bed and a relatively small room for the money.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful!"
As always, the hotel was beautiful as well as the ground. We could see the fireworks from our room and everyone was super helpful and friendly. We initially thought someone had previously smoked maybe a pipe in the room but teized it was whatever they use to clean as the elevator area smelled the same. The key pad cover was on the floor in the hallway […] when we got back to the room, which made me a little nervous, but still worked and there was no issue. It is by far my favorite Disney Hotel. "family hotel"
It was an excellent choice for a family and extremely convenient to get to magic kingdom. The boat is a useful transport option. The only thing that i felt was that every time i turned around, there was an unsaid, but implied, request for a tip. I had to change money into small bills to ensure i had enough to tip. In addition, the envelope for the housekeeping […] was a bit much. I like to tip generously for people that do go out of their way, but to do their job? Other than that, the hotel was lovely. "Great Hotel"
The Lodge was great as usual; my only real complaint is that on previous trips to the Wilderness Lodge we bought many items in the hotel gift store that directly related to the Lodge..... polo shirts , sweat shirts, ornamints, etc. We found very limited merchadise that related directly to the hotel. With the exception of a few items you could buy most […] merchandise anywhere in Disney. We would have purchased considerably more items had they a connection to the Wilderness Lodge. "Disney World - once a decade"
Disney world is a country inside Florida. I did not rent a car and the following information is based on a week without a car. The Wilderness Lodge is a great hotel and if you are staying for 3 to 4 days - then it is perfect. Buses from the Wilderness Lodge are slow and hard to navigate to other locations. Example Downtown Disney. The food was just […] okay. On a scale from 1great to 10 horrible - it was 4.5 The pool and lake are fantastic options for kids and adults. The night movies by the lake amazing. Stay on the 6th or 7th floor to see the fireworks. Great bonus if you have little kids or enjoy fireworks as adults. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Room Size a Big Disappointment Relative to Cost"
The hotel lobby was quite impressive and grand however the "standard" rooms were just that - standard. The "balcony" was pathetic - room enough for two chairs. The room size relative to the price was a disappointment! There were two sit down restaurants - one was quite pricey and the other was quite loud - Whispering Canyons. You could not get into Whispering […] Canyons (family restaurant) without a reservation or an hour wait - once you did it was very loud. At a time when you wanted your kids to start to calm down - they would get hyper again due to the nature of the restaurant which encouraged guests to scream for what they needed. The menu was also limited. Roaring forks was a Snack Bar that was available as an alternative but served virtually the same food every day. Too bad the rooms were not larger and dining options more flexible - the theme and the lobby really are quite impressive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wilderness Lodge 1/18 - 23"
My 2 adult sons (29 & 26) and I stayed here for 5 nights last week. The room was 30% and it was 1 of the few we have not stayed in. It is not the most convenient resort as you must take either a boat or bus to the parks and Downtown. The boats run sporadically and it takes time to get over to the Magic Kingdom. The rooms are small for a deluxe resort […] and they are very dark. Our floor (6) was very quiet and housekeeping was good although I had requested turn down service for each night, it was only done the first night. The food "court" was ok, the Mickey waffles with fresh strawberries and orange butter was very good. We spent each afternoon by the pool. Nothing special, there are 2 nice sized Jacuzzi behind the pool. We rented a car so we only took the bus once, to EPCOT. Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness share the same bus. "Mostly Great"
We were pleasantly surprised when we got checked in our room at 1:30 pm. Room was accesible, although we didn't require it, so the walk in shower was a bit different than having a tub/shower. The bed was the biggest problem as it had a large depression in the center of the mattress. It wasn't terrible, but it was definitely a bit uncomfortable. Other […] than that, the lodge is wonderful. Close to everything, but you feel a million miles away. Suprisingly quiet for a Disney hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A solid Disney option"
The lobby is stunning. But beyond that, I found the hotel to be a little dated. Even the crew uniforms looked like they were from the '70s. The room was nice, but average and also was a little dated. Our view was of the back service parking lot and some dumpsters (where's the Disney magic to hide that stuff?) The staff was nice and pleasant to deal […] with. The room was clean and perfectly acceptable, just don't expect anything special. The refrigerator is hidden behind a cabinet door and if the bellman hadn't pointed it out, we would have never noticed it was there. The ferry service to the park is nice and fairly prompt. Expect to wait no more than 15-20 minutes for the next boat. It's a nice ride in to the park. We used the bus to go to Epcot one day -- not as exciting of a ride, but a nice convenience. It's a nice hotel in a good location. My one major complaint is that the pool is way too small for a resort of that size. We were there in July and there was always someone bumping into you or some kid jumping on top of you. It was difficult to find 3 empty chairs together on the pool deck. The water slide is nice, but it's pretty small. Don't choose this hotel based on the pool. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very accommodating staff, nice place but..."
Don't get me wrong --we really enjoyed being at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and my 4 year old son LOVED this place. The only complaint I have is this: I had specifically asked for a quiet room -- I said I didn't care about the view or the size of the room or anything, I just wanted it to be quiet. The room we were given was […] very lovely and it happened to overlook the beach -- which is where, every night at 9:30 pm, they show an outdoor MOVIE -- LOUDLY. Not a problem if you are out enjoying the parks and not in your room trying to sleep, which is exactly what we were trying to do the second night of our stay. I called the front desk and they were very apologetic. They were kind enough to move us to a different room where we couldn't hear the movie, but it turned out that from this room, we could hear the people in the nearby swimming pool until about 10:30 at night. Not the hotel's fault -- you'd think guests might show a bit of consideration and be quiet at that time of night, but I found that many people vacationing here were not very considerate. We would be woken up by people talking loudly in the halls at 11:30 at night. Anyway, I don't know if any of the other Disney property hotels are any better, or any hotels, period, and I will say that this one was very nice in every other way. It's just not very quiet. "Great stay at the WIlderness Lodge"
We loved the Wilderness Lodge but have stayed at the Epcot area resorts and prefer the proximity to the parks and the shorter bus rides compared to the relative distance from the Wilderness lodge. Wilderness Lodge is neat and if you are going to Magic Kingdom and staying late you can just take the boat back to the Lodge. "Great choice for Disney"
Gorgeous hotel, best theming in the whole resort. Beautiful pool, kiddie pool, waterfalls, courtyard, nature trails, beach. The lobby area and many lounges throughout the guest room floors are charming. Scent of pine outside is lovely and refreshing after a hot day at a theme park. The boat to Magic Kingdom was delightful and convenient. Service from […] concierges, room service staff, and front desk staff was superb. All at a much lower price than the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Contemporary. Down sides: Room itself is fine, with pleasant balcony, but nothing extraordinary like the public areas of the hotel. Worse, even at a relatively quiet time of year, the sit-down restaurants were 100% booked up for our entire stay, leaving the Roaring Fork snack bar as the only dining option. Service at RF was shockingly bad, not just bad by Disney standards, but objectively terrible. The food itself was decent, but it was torture to wait in a long line while the ONE (1!) staff member, who communicated like an extra from "Deliverance," s-l-o-o-o-o-o-w-l-y made one five-minute sandwich after another. No employee there was in ANY kind of hurry, even when six or seven families were in line for food or to pay. "Quick service" indeed. Inexcusable, and a real contrast with the top-notch service in the rest of the hotel. That's the reason I couldn't give the hotel 5 stars. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just a little disapointed"
We go to disney every few years to meet up with our Scottish relatives.. We have stayed at the Polynesian,The Boardwalk and other hotels and this was really our favorite. Very relaxing atmosphere. If you have a family this makes perfect sense. Beautiful hotel, the grounds are just lovely,. Very clean, had read about small older rooms, The room was not […] huge, beds sooo comfie. OUr only compaint came at check in. My son had decided to come at the last minute so we asked about upgrading to a two bedroom suite. They said one was available at for a certain price. We said we would go up and look at the room that we already had first. We went up and had a look and decided it would be better to have the extra bath so called the front desk. This was about 10 minutes after we checked in. They said the room was no longer available. Apparently the rooms go super fast!!! So if you get an opportunity to upgrade, better take it. "Evereything was great except for the internet."
This was a fabulous hotel with one exception (internet). We stayed at Yellowstone's Old Faithful Inn last month, which this is patterned after, so the comparison was interesting and very accurate. It was a fabulous place to stay and the rate was competetive since we got a deep discount through hotels.com. My one nitpick is they charge for internet access […] and use neanderthal ethernet cables rather than wireless. My first night there I couldn't sleep so I got up and went to the lobby (so as not to wake my wife), but since there is no wireless, I had no internet access. I went back to the room, finally found the ethernet cable hanging in the closet, but still couldn't get on. They have 24 hour tech support, but again didn't want to call from my room because my wife was sleeping. The next day the tech finally deduced that we had a bad cable and replaced it. I think in the 21st century, wireless internet should be considered a cost of doing business and figured into the establishment's rates, rather than nickle and diming us and using outdated equipment (cables). Other than thayt, service was outstanding. I had a small cooler of frozen treats that I was carrying cross country for relatives and they easily accommodated this by sticking it in the freezer for me. The boat ride to Magic Kingdom was convenient and efficient. October was also a pleasant surprise as a great time to visit - we had no more than a 2 minute wait in line before lunch at any of Magic Kingdom's major rides! "Magical Experience---it was fine"
Where we were was a great room as far as view of the courtyard and the lake. Where the room was vs the elevator was excellent since my husband has knee problems. For the price the room was a bit small. I paid much less at different hotel on Disney property and got a 2 room suite - bedroom and living room area plus a small kitchen area.(refrig, micro […] and table big enough for 4) Did not feel the room was worth the price. Room service was OK. The food was good, but they kept forgetting things and having to come back. Access to the park was good because you could take the bus or get a boat to the Magic Kingdom. So if you made the MK your last stop of the day, it was easy to get home. Pool area was very good and clean I think I would stay here again as long as it was 6 days or less......could not get out of my own way in the room. Again, too small for the price. "not bad if you can get a deal"
Room was somewhat small and felt a little aged, but basically nice. Staff were uniformly excellent. Boat to Magic Kingdom was convenient, as was the bus to Epcot. Roaring Fork cafe downstairs not a bad option for quick service dining, and prices were reasonable by Disney standards. The only table service options are the Whispering Canyon, where the […] waiters walk around shouting into megaphones and you are forced to participate in the hokey pokey and similar foolishness (some people like that, apparently), and Artist Point - a very expensive restaurant ($35 - $70 entrees). The pool and waterslide were nice, though about 50% smaller than I expected from the photos and at times very crowded. Overall it's a lot less than I would expect for the price at a hotel outside Disney property, but when you add in the benefits of being on Disney property it's a reasonable deal, at least if you can get a discount. "Disney Wilderness Lodge - very pretty, tips!!"
The hotel was gorgeous and convenient to get around to the other parks. I liked having the boat option to the Magic Kingdom. The hotel smells like the rest of Disney which is a weird food smell from having restaurants everywhere and I didn't find the pillows very comfortable at all. I would recommend bringing your own. We had an unexpected layover in […] Denver on the way home and had to stay in a hotel and we slept way better than we had the whole time at Disney. I loved the little fridge in the room. Since everything is so expensive (kid you not regular coffee at Animal Kingdom $4.50), we rented a car one day and bought a bunch of food at target and Wholefoods so that we wouldn't have to buy everything on Disney property. The water coming out of the taps at Wilderness Lodge tasted and smelled so much like sulphur we could barely drink it and bought water jugs from the gift shop there. Bring your own water folks!!!
