Disney's Polynesian Resort

Loved it. The rooms were recently renovated and were very nice. I loved the beach and the fact that you could get to the Magic Kindom by boat or monorail very easily. The staff was very friendly and always had an "aloha" for you. I would go back to the resort again and would recommend it to a friend.

The hotel is old and (as far as I can tell) has never been renovated but it is kept very clean and the service at the hotel was very pleasing. Plus the location (right on the monorail) is great and makes up for the fact that the hotel is older. Overall would recommend if the person does not mind that it is an older hotel.

Our room was clean and felt pretty newish. The hotel is old (I think it might be the first Disney one) anyway, for being old, they have done a good job keeping it up along with the room. We love the location of the Polynesian. The front desk person "Ivan", went above and beyond our expectactions. There was a small problem with the room we checked into, but "Ivan" cleared up the problem in no time. His attention to detail and to please us was outstanding. We also had a problem, twice with dining in the Kona Cafe. When we checked in […] for our reservations, we were given a pager and told that we could stay anywhere on the second floor. Much time passed by when my husband approached the host and asked when we would be seated and we were told that our pager was obviously not working and they did not bother to look for us. This happened on two different occasions. After I thought about it for a while, I was thinking that perhaps, since we were so inconvenienced, they could have at least given us a complimentary cup of coffee(etc.) but, nothing was done to compensate us for the more than 45 minute wait, when the restaurant wasn't even full. I suppose it was our fault for not speaking up, but we were following the instructions of the host. We also felt that the hotel/resort was a bit tired looking. It definitely looked like it was ready for a decorative update. This Polynesian decor definitely needed some freshening up including the guest rooms and the guest areas, such as the Great Ceremonial Hall. If one is going to stay in a 5 star resort, you have to give them that 5 star look and feel. Otherwise, we had a glorious time!! Read more

This WDW Hotel has the advantage of being located inside WDW Orlando. This makes it easy to go to the different attractions directly by Monorail. The room was clean and comfortable, the concierge helpful, the staff is great, the hotel is well located, monorail at the door... but 1) if someone gets sick, nothing serious, and you ask the concierge for help, they will give you a flyer of a medical center and probably you will spend lots and lots of hours there. In a place packed of tourist a good […] doctor would be good common sense. 2) if you need to print a single sheet of paper, the nice concierge will tell you to go next door, to the Floridian, where you can find a business center (but no nurse or doctor there too). They cannot print a single paper. 3) restaurants at the Polonisean seems to work on a book out base, meaning that is a win - lose situation (hotel profits and you don't eat, or take a cab and go to downtown disney or outside the park or order a pizza to your room). Bottom line: stay at the Floridian (comtemporary may be is a option too) if you need to print any last minute stuff and PLEASE be healthy. Getting sick may make you lose one precious day AND enjoy, because kids LOVE the parks. Read more

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Polynesian. The resort is a beautiful property with its tropical foilage both in the lobby and outside, beach front with hammocks and swings and a view of the magic kingdom. It is especailly romantic at night as you walk along torch lit paths with Hawaiin music playing. We did not use the pools […] but they looked great and we observed families watching movies on the beach and roasting marshmellows. When we checked in they gave us special fresh leis in honor of our 25th and a lovely room in Tokelau. I think that the best buildings in terms of location are Tokelau and Hawaii. You have monorail access at the Polynesian which allows easy access to the Magic Kindom and Epcot. It also allows easy access to the Floridian, the Contemporary and the Wildnerness Lodge-- I encourage you to explore these properties. The room is a good size and a family of 5 could easily stay in the space. It also has a good size safe that will fit a laptop and a small refrigerator. Drawbacks-- Decor needs freshening up, lighting is not great, sinks are not outside the bathroom. Read more

We always go back to the Polynesian, we love it here. We love the tropical feel to it, the closeness to the parks and all the transportations we get! The pool is amazing and there's nothing like watching the fireworks from their beach at night!

This hotel is gorgeous, but be warned - depending on where you stay you may be walking a lot! The luau is great, and overall the staff was exactly what you expect at Disney- gracious and accommodating. We requested a crib and a microwave and got them both with a smile. The only issues we had were that 1) the front desk staff was totally unable to help […] us fix our magical express ticket problem- waited for over one hour and still ended up boarding with a handwritten note and 2) the fan in our room had not been dusted in ages. Considering that the rooms are kind of dark, they NEED to be super clean to feel top notch. That being said, when we asked the mouse keeper to dust it she did so with a smile in about two seconds. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I loved the convenience of the hotel to all of the Disney world attractions. I wish there would have been a microwave in our room, and a little more food choices, like hamburgs, hot dogs, or deli sandwiches . But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Super convenient to Magic Kingdom (monorail is right behind main building), beyond excellent service, very comfortable rooms with a pleasing exotic theme. It's a nice way to start off a Disney vacation, with decent food and a fun show. I would generally pass on the Ohana character breakfast though, unless you are a big Lilo and Stitch fan - the food was eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes, too conventional considering the $$$ price. If we had more time, we would have spent some time on the white lake side beach, which looked very relaxing. The over-sized sliding glass doors to the patio/deck was nice, however it did not have a screen door. We were on the 2nd floor, had the slider open because the weather was beautiful in the high-70's, and a lizard got in the room. It was harmless but freaked everyone out to think of it crawling around the beds at night. So we went after it, caught it […] and put it back outside. Screens would have prevented this unpleasant experience as well as the bugs that flew in. Did not get coffee replaced next day and waited over 30mins for someone to bring a replacement. The hotel's location was ideal in terms of getting to all the theme parks. Also the monorail made travelling to places extremely easy. The hotel was nice with all kinds of shops inside it. The only thing that put me off a little was the oldness of the hotel. Other than that everything was perfect.

We have been to Disney World several times and love going with our children and grandchildren. The Polynesidan may just be our favorite - clean, cool, sooothing - especially nice after a day at DW! - rooms are nice and clean, wonderful gift shop, nice pool, love all the water around, grounds are beautifully maintained - food is great. The only negative […] that I can think of is that it seems to be a course of SLOW 101 training for staff - they are soooooooo slow whether it be the gift shop, restaurant, ............................... Stayed 5 nights at Disney's Polynesian with our 2 year old and 4 year old. Front desk was helpful but really slow. Of course the location was perfect for visiting Magic Kingdom. Convenience was a priority for me since we were traveling with a 3 y.o and 5 y.o. The Polynesian was great in terms of quick access to the Magic Kingdon via the monorail. I wasn't dazzled by the hotel itself. Rooms were very spacious and the pull out couch was a nice benefit. Wait staff and employees ran the gamut of indifferent to superb. We were traveling with a handicapped individual in a wheel chair and could have used a few hints as to our unit's location which we could not find in the dark. Loved the size of the room- plenty of room for a family of 5. Before we arrived, I requested a room toward the center of the hotel. When we arrived our room wasn't ready (we were early) so we were offered a room overlooking the "quiet pool". They neglected to mention that this pool was drained and under construction! Paint was peeling off bathroom door but room was otherwise clean (for the $$$$- no paint should be peeling anywhere). Location - Location - Location. Best place to stay at Disney. Wonderful sitting on the beach at night - enjoying the fire works from Magic Kingdom - no need to fight the crowd. Very relaxing atmosphere. Multiple choices to get to the parks. Right next door to the transportation center. We had a pleasant 6 night stay at the Poly with adjoining room with my parents. The only problems with the room were the sliding door to the balcony did not lock. We had to put chairs to jam the door so no one could come in. We told housekeeping, however nothing was done about it. Also, not the cleanest room - there were cobwebs hanging from the light […] fixtures next to our bed. Also the lobby had a bad odor, but I believe that's due to the waterfall in the center of the lobby. That's the bad, now the good! My kids age 5 and 7 loved the atmosphere and the volcano pool. Also, the food was very good at all 3 restaurants and all employees were very friendly. Can't beat the location being on the monorail line and TTC nearby. The bus stop was very close and we never had to wait long for the bus to any of the theme parks or Downtown Disney. There's the option of taking the Ferry to the Magic Kingdom which my children loved. Also very good view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the pool/beach area. The Luau was very entertaining, although not very authentic. Food was decent, but nothing special and not Hawaiian at all. I would definitely stay at the Poly again. This was the first time my family stayed at the Disney Polynesian resort. On the positive note, the resort is fantastic. the accomodations, the location, the amenities were superb. I would have to say that the dining options are not satisfactory. If you didn't have a reservation, despite being a hotel guest, then you wouldn't have the opportunity to […] eat at the restaurant. The only options were the fast food area downstairs. I think if you are paying to be a guest at the resort, there should be a priority to serve those guests at the resort's restaurants. I found the experience of being turned away very disheartening as we are paying to stay at this resort. I believe there should be 2-3 more eating options at this resort. After a long day at the parks, a hot meal is very comforting to our souls. Read more

マジックキングダムの対岸で、夜の花火がホテルから湖越しに一望できるロケーションや、ホテル内にキャラクターダイニングを行うレストランがあることなど、ディズニーホテルとしては完璧とも言っても過言ではないと思います。唯一残念なことは、室内にディズニー関連のアメニティがほとんどないことです。これは東京ディズニーランドホテルやホテルミラコスタと比較してさみしいと感じました。ただ、ハワイをイメージしたホテルであり室内もそのような雰囲気を演出しているため、気にならない方も多いかもしれません。素晴らしいホテルであることは間違いなく、また宿泊したいと思います。
