Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, located in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., is an African-themed wildlife reserve positioned two miles from Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The resort stands one mile from Disney's Blizzard Beach water park.
Hotel Features.
Featuring thatched roofs and African artifacts, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is located on 33 acres of savannah where African wildlife graze freely. Resort dining options include African and American cuisine served at Jiko-The Cooking Place, American-style quick service offered at The Mara food court, and African buffets prepared at Boma-Flavors of Africa. Uzima Springs Pool Bar offers refreshments at the outdoor pool complex. This complex features a zero-entry pool, a 67-foot slide, and spa tubs. Zahanati Massage and Fitness Center offers spa treatments such as facials and massage therapy. The complimentary, limited-hour fitness center houses cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, free weights, and yoga balls. Family activities include flamingo and pelican feedings, cultural safaris, and storytelling sessions. Simba's Cubhouse offers supervised evening care for children ages four to 12. Resort staff distributes night-vision goggles so roaming wildlife can be observed after sundown.
Guestrooms.
A total of 972 smoke-free, safari-themed guestrooms feature African artworks and furniture embellished with African wildlife carvings. Guestroom entrance doors are decorated with individually designed African shields. Room lighting is slightly dimmed. Balconies afford views of the savannah or the pool complex. Beds feature mosquito nets and are draped with 250-thread count sheets and African-print duvets. Bathrooms are stocked with Aquatics H20 toiletries and feature granite-topped vanities with dual sinks. Select accommodations include plasma-screen televisions. High-speed Internet access is available for a fee.

My 3 friends and I just got home from a four day trip to disneyworld. (We went for our spring break) This hotel was seriously amazing. It was beautifully built, with every little detail taken care of. The staff only wanted to make sure you had a great time, and thus were prompt and helpful. The food was expensive, but we bought cereal from the convenience […] store and ate that for breakfast to save money. It has a free shuttle to/from the airport, and to/from the parks, and they run every 20 minutes so you're completely taken care of even if you have no car. "Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge - Ashura View Room"
Pros: Typical Disney service - simple outstanding all around, though one does pay for it. Location - On the AK reservation, every morning we had animals within view from our terrace. Pool/Hot Tub. Cons: Room - Small size (just enough to fit the 2 queen beds) and ours had a dampness and musky odor the entire duration akin to wet towels. Food - Mediocre […] at best within the hotel. Location - Double-edged sword as the distance from the main hotels became an issue when one has to wait 30 minutes for bus service. "Stay at the Animal Kingdom!"
We walked it, the thematic presentation was very cool! They were beating drums outside the doors and then the lobby was impressive! Although we booked an Standard View room (as opposed to a Savannah View) we still got a savannah view! Woke up to Giraffes and Zebras outside! Make sure to end one of your park days a little early so you can enjoy the hotel, […] its restaurants, and of course, its animals! Only downside was that its is in the corner of the park, which really only makes the bus ride 5-10 min longer, but it didn't phase us!
