The Don CeSar Beach Resort faces the Gulf of Mexico's white sand dunes in St. Pete Beach, Fla. The "Pink Palace" as it is known locally, is located one mile from Frank Hurley Park. Twin Brooks Golf Course is positioned six miles away.
Hotel Features.
The Don CeSar Beach Resort, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, retains its original 1920s Jazz Age style. Crystal chandeliers and a spiral staircase lend grandeur to the expansive reception area. A fine-dining venue, the nautically themed Maritana Grille, specializes in Florida-Caribbean cuisine and houses saltwater aquariums stocked with indigenous fish. Walls of windows open onto the surrounding beach at the Sea Porch Café where light Caribbean- and Mediterranean-influenced dishes are prepared. The Beachcomber Bar and Grill serves poolside drinks and appetizers. The resort's lobby bar hosts live piano entertainment five days a week. A 24-hour fitness room contains cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, and free weights. One of the resort's two outdoor pools features an underwater sound system. Outfitters adjacent to the resort rent water-sport equipment. Spa Oceana houses a hair and beauty salon, steam and sauna rooms, 16 massage-treatment rooms and Vichy showers. Babysitting/child care and supervised programs for children ages four to 12 include arts and crafts, movies and beach activities for a surcharge. The resort's shop offers swimwear, golf apparel and Don CeSar-logo clothing. This hotel features outdoor parking for a surcharge. This property is wheelchair accessible. The hotel is smoke-free, please be aware that fines apply for smoking outside of designated areas.

This nine-story property offers 277 guestrooms furnished with wrought-iron beds draped with Egyptian-cotton linens and down bedding. Select accommodations offer sitting areas furnished with armchairs and ottomans. Bathrooms contain curved shower rods and granite vanities. Gulf Boulevard runs the length of the Beach Cities, from Clearwater Beach in the north to St. Pete Beach in the south. We had another lovely stay at this hotel, with our big dog who enjoys every minute of her vacation. Everything was welcoming and comfortable. But we had more meals at the hotel this stay, and the food was excellent. Beautiful looking hotel at a great location, nice amenities. My review is solely on quality of service. Bad start to begin, room was located next to staff area and was awakened very early sunday morning by staff speaking extremely loud! At one point i had to bang on the wall to get them to quiet down a bit, next, we had no menu in our room, called to […] get one. Way too expensive for the tiny rooms provided. They hammer you with fees that were, in my view, excessive and unwarranted. As an example, I spent $43 to rent 2 beach chairs and an umbrella. "Not that impressed"
My husband and I stayed two nights at the Don CeSar in December 2012 as a baby moon weekend getaway. We have stayed at other Loews properties before which were absolutely wonderful. We were both less than impressed with this stay. To start, there is a resort fee of $22 plus an additional $10/night self-parking fee. Typically, parking is included in […] the resort fee. I will say that the lobby was well decorated and there were lots of decorated christmas trees for the holiday season. However, when we got to our room, a King Deluxe, we were less than impressed. The room itself was a decent size. However, the bathroom had a single sink and shower was not good. There was a plastic shower head and there was nothing stopping the water from overflowing into the rest of the bathroom after you showered (no adequate drainage system or water stopper). We ordered room service twice. The first was for breakfast. This was fine. The second room service order I ordered a PB&J sandwhich with grapes. The grapes were wilted and not edible. For room service prices, I expect the staff to use a little more care with selection. This did not occur. Lastly, we were not impressed with the quality of service. Overall, my husband and I would not stay here again nor would we reccommend this hotel to our friends. We booked this hotel over Hyatt due to Expedia VIP benefits. To our dismay, they couldn't give us an upgrade. The room was so small we can hardly move around. I love the Don Cesar Hotel. The location and beach are so beautiful, and the ambiance of the old hotel is wonderful. The rooms with the balconeys and gulf view are well worth the extra. The decor of the newly decorated rooms is very nice - easy on the eyes and comfortable but classy. The resort fee is ok - but should include the parking. Too many fees […] seem unfair considering the money people spend at the hotel. Also, they made some bad choices for the lobby decor - the old lobby was much more beautiful - the new art is not at all fitting for such a beautiful hotel. They removed a large gorgeous painting one of the loveliest I've ever seen from behind concierge desk. Whenever I saw that painting I felt that I was at the Don, - it was so happy, and the light was indescribable. The picture of the lawn chairs in someones back yard is also a poor choice for this stately hotel. And the sign that removed the pink scallop seashell also destroyed a valuable asset. Top notch service from all the staff, especially Dalton by the pool, Amanda in the beach bar and Jasper in the fine dining restaurant. The Don Cesar is a gorgeous piece of real estate and we want to thank you for taking steps to keep its original grandeur. I didn't like the tip fee added on to every day. Christina the concierge, our waiter in the Maritana Grill and the cocktail waitress in the lobby bar were exceptional as was the staff at the Sea Porch. The pool bar staff was inattentive […] so we left without ordering. (The bar wasn't busy). We were there fri, sat and sun Sept 7, 8 and 9. The beach was full of trash the entire weekend. I picked up some of it. We ordered coffee one morning to be sent to our room and canceled it after it never arrived 30 minutes later. We wondered if we could have our room service brought to the pool side and were told no. We wanted to play the bag toss game one overcast afternoon and were told no. We paid for three days of dining with guests and did not want them to have to pay to park and we were hassled by the doorman (at first). Later we learned to have them bring in their parking slips to be validated. It was all a bit of an unnecessary hassle and found it annoying.
