This was my second visit to the Henlopen. I can 't say enough good things about the location. The beach was steps away and and the areas were clean and quite pleasantly free from loud noise and music. The hotel itself is somewhat dated, could use a little sprucing. But the room was comfortable and convenient. I was a little disappointed that the cleaning […] staff failed to look behind the bathroom door. I was quite upset to find that area was untouched. Stray hairs and dust balls were very obvious. I left a note for the maid and she did take care of my "problem". So my message is this, OPEN YOUR EYES and look around once you have checked in , and if things are not as you like then make one of the staff aware. People at the front desk were very accommodating. Thought I was getting standard room When I arrived they upgraded me to an ocean front room. We saw two weddings on the beach from our balcony. Got there before check-in officially started, but the staff opened up a room for us, and gave us an upgrade to a suite. Front desk clerk noticed our bikes, and told us about a local trail. The rooms and lobby are well designed and attractive. The continental breakfast is pretty lame though. It would probably be better to skip offering it rather than […] offer prepackaged bagels, poptarts, and canned orange juice. That was just about it. Also, wifi isn't free, which is a bummer! However, I would not let these two quibbles steer you away from an otherwise wonderful bargain. It's much nicer than most hotels in the same price range/star ratings. Read more

I wasn't sure what we were going to get as I've never been to rehobth before, but I was pleasantly suprised. The room was clean and had a view of the water. I really have no complaints and I would definitly stay here again. Its a little down the boardwalk, but gave us a good excuse to walk everyday.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and the location was perfect. Just far enough away from the daily parking area to ensure quiet beach time (the end of Aug, so most kids back in school anyway). Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Small bathroom, but it was fine for us. Plenty of dining options within walking distance.

I read everyone saying that this is your basic hotel. That's what we expected and we were pleasantly surprised. We were 3 women in our late 20s going for a 3 day beach vacation, so we didn't require too much. Which was why the Henlopen was perfect-theres a mini fridge and microwave and 2 double beds. The breakfast is not really a continental breakfast, […] more just packaged bagels and poptarts with juices and coffees. We knew that going in and were fine with it. The service was great. Arlena checked us in and was FANTASTIC. We asked for oceanfront, and she got us as close as she could which was an amazing oceanview and on the stone courtyard in the middle. The location was also great for restaurants and bars. We walked everywhere. It's convenient to the "trolley" to Dewey beach and we took that the first night. We would definitely stay here again. As everyone says-it is no frills. And you can tell it's a 'beach hotel'. But as long as you go in knowing all these things, you'll be happy. The only thing we kept wishing was that there was a hotel restaurant or bar. Read more

Beachfront/boardwalk property. 5 minute walk to the town center. Excellent service and staff. The only downfall was parking. Only one car per room and the surrounding parking is metered for 25 cents per 10 minutes. Definitely carpool!

Went to meet an old girlfriend and visit. We had a ball. The Manager couldn't have been nicer!! I had my 88 yr young aunt with me and everything was handicapped accessible. Totally enjoyed our stay!! Will defintely go back and back again!! "The Girls"

Half of the Henlopen is a hotel and the other half are condos. This was the least expensive hotel I could find on the boardwalk and near the avenue that had decent reviews. Pros: clean room, pretty spacious, balcony with side ocean view, great location. Cons: very little water pressure, loud heat/air unit, very firm mattresses. It's close enough to the boardwalk and the avenue, but it's also far enough away that most of the sounds you hear are the ocean. When we stayed, the parking situation was great, but it was during the off season so it wasn't very busy - I could definitely see the garage being a nuisance because the layout is strange and kind of tight. The staff was very friendly. I also liked that the hallways are outside rather than indoors. This is also one of the last hotels that give you an actual key for your room, which I found was interesting. Read more

Our room was ocean front with a balconey. The room was clean and appeared to have been recently remodeled. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were quiet, no noise from other rooms or the boardwalk, just nice ocean sounds.

The Henlopin is very dated. The lobby looks good, but the rooms appear to be direct from the late 70's early 80's. I was surprised to recieve a key when checking in.

The only draw back I found was that the sheets were sandy and there was only enough parking for one car. To park the other car we had to buy a $40 permit and park all the way down in Dewey Beach. Booked for one night after July 4th weekend; not many places will take guests for one night during the summer beach season. The hotel was right on the beach at the north end of town/end of boardwalk. Room looked out over the beach and ocean - beautiful view. The hotel staff were very accommodating - thanks to Dave the night manager for suggesting we […] speak to Laura; we were able to spend the day on the beach after checkout and there was a shower room available to get the salt and sand off before out ride back to the Philadelphia area. The hotel had everything we needed; I especially liked the location being away from the crowds.
