Even though the price was reasonable, I thought that this hotel for being a Howard Johnson brand it will have at least a clean room. Really terrible experience. Staff very friendly but hotel is extremely dirty. The room we stayed in was the dirtiest I have ever stayed at. There were so many hairs in the tub, mat, floor. "Terrible but for a reason"
Although this review is really bad, the conditions under which I stayed there were unusual. I got caught in Miami when my flight to Turks and Caicos was cancelled and many people were looking to book hotels near the airport. Most of the hotel rooms were already full when I tried to book one so I ended up getting about the only one that was available. […] I was thankful to get it and I did have a very good night's sleep after all. There was a man who came in to check in right after me and was told that the hotel was full. So, again, I was happy to have this room. I left at 3:00 the next morning to catch my flight so I wasn't there long. As I said, I was thankful for that room. I think the hotel was under renovation. I guess I just got one of the rooms that hadn't been renovated. If someone else had gotten one of the renovated rooms, they would have a different outlook. I'm sure that the staff were stressed out, too, because of everyone trying to book under difficult circumstances so my rating will probably not be the same for most people. "A hopeless place"
Due to flight changes we had an unanticipated stay overnight in Miami and we booked this place while in the airport. Firstly, the hotel wasn't nearly as close to the airport as the Expedia app indicated. The lobby and pool were nice enough but the rooms are in need of a make over and a good cleaning. I was waiting for blood to gush out of the walls to cover that god awful mauve peachy 1970s decor. There was trash sitting in the hallway. The bathroom looked like it was a hospital bathroom. There was this bench in the tub for the elderly or immobile to sit on.. I guess. No way I would put my behind on that bench. The lighting was horrible the room just made me depressed. I felt like I was in a horror movie, like the ghosts of dead hookers past would reveal themselves in that sad mirror pointing at an odd direction. The noise from the highway was loud as well. It is a worest hotel I have ever stayed in Miami. Don't do it. Pay an extra $25 and go elsewhere. There service is the worst. We had 5 people to a room and only 3 towels. There shuttle is a joke. Called when we arrived (as instructed) at airport (7:10pm) was told would be there in 1/2hr. Needless to say after 4 calls to the hotel and 2hrs of waiting by the curb they finally came. Called for towels […] and xtra pillow and it took over an hour to get it. Best of all we ran out of toilet paper late in the evening and called down to desk for more and 9hrs later, still no toilet paper. I wont tell you at this point what I really would of liked to do without any toilet paper. But best of all, the roaches and ants. Called the desk to tell them i wanted another room because of the roaches and ants they send up housekeeping with a bottle of Raid. What the hell is wrong with these people and to top it off no one speaks english. They all speak Spanish. So i suggest your learn spanish before heading there. I do have to give credit where credit is due, the restaraunt in the hotel is awesome and they are very friendly and inexpensive. oh and last but not least there elevators have not been inspected since 2008, must I say amymore. "Do Not Trust this Hotel!"
The only good thing about this hotel is that I only had to stay there for about 4 hours. First of all, our room was not ready and after waiting we were sent up through the dirty, decaying hallways to our "suite". The poorest excuse of a "suite" consisted of a dirty, outdated, and foul-smelling room with two tiny beds that folded out of the wall. After arguing with the staff, the only highlight was the supervisor who transferred us to two other rooms for free. THE PICTURES ARE COMPLETELY DECEIVING. This hotel howard Johnson hotel, was absolutely awful. The room smelled musky, old, not fresh and clean. The bed sheets/spread also smelled awful like it was used before, and some nasty maid decided to put it on another bed. The pillows were small, almost tiny, very uncomfortable. I wont recommend this hotel for my poodle dog to stay at. The bath tub […] was filty, obviously not cleaned properly, the lamp shades u touched them and the dust flew off. Selected the hotel because I needed an overnight stay between flights and they offered airport transfer. Airport transfer ends early and if it takes time to get the luggage, you miss the last transfer. There were 5 of us that needed transfer and had to scramble and pay for the airport shuttle (Individually as we discovered our situation in the van).
