I really enjoyed my stay at the Double Tree. I paid an AMAZING rate for a HUGE king suite. The room was very clean and modern with it's decor. The bed was very comfortable as well. It is also right beside the South Park Mall which is very convenient. Its a really nice area with great restaurants and shops. This hotel is in an excellent neighborhood near plenty of shopping, restaurants, and within a few miles of major interstates. The hotel was recently renovated, which was not a good thing. I stayed in this hotel before the renovations. The rooms went from a full sized refridgerator to a mini fridge, The kitchen is no longer fully stocked, Instead you […] get 4 packs of plastic ware. Some of the rooms still had the kitchen table w/ chairs in the dining area of the room, Others had a desk w/ a chair. "Highly Unorganized, Very Disappointing"
Came with friends and family for ACC Championship game. Check-in was delayed over 2 hours, with no notice after a 5 hour car drive, because rooms hadn't been cleaned. Folks were so crowded in the lobby and the tension was paramount. The male at the counter was so incredibly rude to folks and my party was no exception. He told the lady in front of me […] that obviously he didn't make as much money as her and that she could step aside. He also put his hand in her face and told her to "stop talking to him!" Never in my life have I heard an employee talk to a customer in such a manner. When it was my turn, our rooms weren't ready and I told him there was no point in moving to the next person in line because no rooms were ready. He told me to step aside or he'd call the police??!!! There were two females who tried to calm him down, but he was AWFUL. After boasting that he'd been there 7 years, it really makes me question the hotel altogether. He was awful and came close to ruining our trip from his deplorable behavior. Too many decent folks are out of work right now to put up with this kind of behavior. Surely the hotel manager could do something. Waiting over 2 hours for a room is absolutely unbelievable. If the check-in time had changed, they should have gotten to work early and made personal calls to every single reservation for the evening. NEVER AGAIN. "The Best Hotel in Charlotte"
I have been staying here on a tri-yearly basis, for over 10 years now, and each visit is a pleasure. As soon as I walk through the door, I feel very welcomed. The location is great- Southpark Mall, and many restaurants are just a stroll away. The common areas are beautiful, airy and tranquil. The courtyard area is perfect for settling in with a book […] and a glass of wine, & during the warmer months the pool is delightful. I love the waterfall! The rooms are extremely spacious. Full kitchens, 2 flat-screen TV's, and plush, comfortable beds. Each room has a wide balcony, and the ones that overlook the grassy areas are especially nice. The staff is top-notch. Over the years, my friends and I have had always found wonderful service. My family stayed there for my Mother's funeral , and the level of care and concern they showed us was truly a comfort.
