"Convient but not great"

I didn't really like this place. The condition of the hotel was run down, should have been a way lower price per night. The refrigerator didn't work at all, the pull-out couch was broken, had springs that wouldn't connect and didn't support any weight. The towel rack was crooked and there wasn't much room for any of our items. The cable was horrible, […] didn't get many channels and half of the ones listed didn't come in at all. One of the rooms next to us found needles in the towels and one of them got stuck by them, they said they looked used. The staff was nice but the room was VERY dirty. The sheets on the bed had been changed we saw the staff do that. But nothing else in the room was cleaned. You get what you pay for...The hotel is old, but the rooms are nice size and fairly decent. You can tell it is definitely a one night stop over. Lots of pick-up with cars in tow. The neighborhood is commercial/industrial area. The shining spot in their continental breakfast was the waffle iron, you make your own waffles...everything else was old stale […] or awful. The air conditioners are loud, the water won't rinse the soap, and all the beds are diffrent so you might get a good or you might not. Saturday morning we returned from breakfast and were locked out of our room and the maitnance guy was at another hotel.. They ended up sending the cleaning crew over with a crow bar and a screw driver to pry the door […] open which was very easy and not very secure. The gate to the pool that had been hack sawed of at the bottom instead of installing a new gate caused my 4 year old son 4 hours in hospital and 5 stitches on the first day of our vacation. the room smelled awful- like sewage. The heater was broke, it would make horrible noises each time it was going to kick off, it shook and made loud noises. We chose this hotel because it was cheap and close to the Ameristar Casino. We got a smoking room to save money and that was a horrible mistake. Our room had a hole in the floor under the carpet which was covered by the table which was out of place. The tub didn't drain, so we were standing in water while taking a shower.
