Our first trip to KC. Would definitely stay here again!! Great breakfasts with great service. Transition time of year where it was difficult to regulate room temp but staff tried very hard to make it comfortable as quickly as they could. The hotel was a bit "greener" than we were used to but appreciated the concept and quickly got used to it. Refrigerator […] in room was well work the nominal fee. Good location. Loved the golds gym membership pass. The only complaint is the breakfast service. They weren't very polite. The set up down in the basement wasn't very organized. It wasn't very inviting. The food wasn't bad through.

Very nice -- defnitely had an eco-friendly vibe....the hotel had clearly been refurbed, but some items had been left intact since original construction...admittedly this could make some "disneyland" consumers uncomfortable due to teh anachronysm of some furnishings or trim, but it was clear to me that this was a thoughtful decision made to avoid un-necessary […] waste. The end result was taseful decor without any ostentatious feeling. The breakfast was nice -- in a cafeteria-style room. It seemed all guests came to the breakfast -- it felt very communal and energized visitors for their day. Similarly, the daily happy hour was well attended by guests and really gave a sociable vibe compared to a chain hotel. Location was great -- Westport very walkable and plenty of dining drinking options. Not much polished retail at Westport -- but you can walk or drive to Plaza if that's your thing. Walked to Nelson Atkins Museum, KCAI, Kemper etc. Short drive (10 minutes) to River market district. Read more

We had a great time, walking around Westport & also strolling through the Country Club Plaza Annual Art Fair. It was a beautiful & exciting art show,complete with food & entertainment. This hotel is close to everything and also offers a shuttle service. The hotel staff is very friendly & helpful.Our room was clean & well-maintained, except for the slow-draining […] bathroom sink and the shower water temperature, which kept changing from warm to hot to cool. This Hotel was nothing special. It's a good hotel for the money. If your trip doesn't involve Westport, there's no particular reason to stay here (and Westport ain't what it used to be 10-20 years ago). This hotel is a cluster of contradictions. There's a nice free-breakfast room BUT there's no pool. You get free access to a Gold's Gym nearby BUT that […] one has an F ranking from BBB. There are massage shower heads in the showers BUT there's no water pressure. The room was spotless BUT the exhaust duct in the bathroom was disgusting. Great beds BUT TV system was infuriating. Even though my stay was brief I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was extremely nice and clean and everything you need it was right there at your fingertips. I will recommend this hotel to all my friends. If I could give it 5 stars instead of 4. For my next years anniversary I will book a room at the hotel.

Based upon all of the previous reviews, I thought that this hotel was going to be a steal for what we were paying. In other words, I thought that it would be an upscale hotel at a bargain price. When we arrived, the glass of the front door and window by the back door were shattered. However, they were fixed within the next couple of days. Our room had […] a gigantic mirror covering one entire wall. There were stains on the ceiling, on the floor, and in the caulk of the tub. The hot water went on and off during a 10 minute shower. The free breakfast was nice, but there is no ventilation in the room where it is cooked and it gets hot and greasy-smelling fast. There is no noise control. Every single night, we would be awakened by other guests shutting their room doors or the exit door by us - I mean a loud "boom" every single time. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is also within a block of everything in the Westport District. Too bad the hotel itself didn't stack up to its staff and location. Read more

We went to Kansas City for a one night get-away and it was one of the better stays we have had in a long time. Hotel staff was friendly and efficient. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly from the front desk to the shuttle drivers to the gals serving up breakfast! We have no complaints at all! And we also highly recommend staying at this cozy "green" hotel.

This hotel is great- it's just as pictured and very clean. Room was a bit small, but still efficient with a really comfy fuzzy blanket that I want to get! :) The breakfast buffet is extensive and FREE!!! So awesome. I'd highly recommend Q for a comfortable stay at a reasonable price.

We stayed at the Q Hotel for our anniversary as a kind of 'staycation', since we planned on eating dinner and drinking in Westport. The hotel location is phenomenal, a very short jaunt from restaurants and entertainment. However, the front desk person was very unfriendly after we interrupted a conversation he was having with someone at the desk (who […] stepped away for us politely), and acted slightly perturbed that we had some questions. The hotel itself has a nice lobby, but is essentially a remodeled hotel. There is nothing fancy about it. The mattress was pretty firm (which might be to some people's liking), and the walls were soooo thin. We heard our neighbors every conversation, and they were interrupted later that night for being extremely 'loud' (if you know what I mean). It's not a terrible hotel, it had some redeeming qualities, but we probably wouldn't stay here again for the price, since that does not include wi-fi or breakfast. Read more

First of all the hotel is conveniently located to many places (plaza, downtown, etc.) The problem with this hotel is mostly the staff. Absolutely no one is in a hurry to help you or help with something that is not their job. We paid for the extras (free parking, gym access and free drinks every night, breakfast).The bartender was almost never to be […] found. We waited multiple times for the bartender to show up for over 20 minutes. With no one at the front desk explaining where she was or offering to help. We were just 2 of about 10 people waiting. The hotel appears to be an older hotel that has been updated with paint and wallpaper. It appears to have been done by non-professionals. There is caulk on everything from the ceiling to about an inch strip around the tub. The toilet had a ring in it as well. The color scheme and design of the update is nice and modern though. Been to KC once before, but never to Westport. My girlfriend and I were very happy we found this hotel so close to this neighborhood. Just one block away - very convenient! The hotel itself is very nice, very hip, and clean. They have what looks like a hip little bar right up front next to the lobby...we would have loved to sat down and had a cold drink, […] but the night we stayed the bar was closed. But that's ok, for Westport has so many bar options. We loved the art deco of the entire hotel - from the lobby to the internet lounge to the hallway leading to our room, and of course our room itself. We highly recommend the Q and we'll be back again. This is a great hotel. The service and accomodations were first-class. Our only complaint is the bathroom in our room. The plate around the shower drain was rusty and the caulk around the base of the toilet looked shabby. (Any good plumber will tell you that you never caulk around the base of a toilet!) The room was clean and nice, nothing overly fancy. They had just fixed our showerhead right when we checked in but we never tried it out to see if they really did "fix" it. The location was great, close to the plaza and the power and light district. They even had a free shuttle to take you to the P&L if you wanted. They gave you free drink vouchers […] and had a nice selection at breakfast. But the line is long for the waffles and omletts so be sure to get there early. The spa is just a tiny room in the corner and I wasn't pleased with my "massage". I didn't know they were supposed to make you cry. Even when I told him it was too much pressure he didn't seem to get the picture. The worst part was trying to sleep. We had neighbors across the hall who were loud and drunk and we could hear them very clearly, even when they went into their room. They kept us up most of the night. If it wasn't for the thin walls I think we would have been fine. Also the pillows are a bit on the firm side so you might want to bring your own. Overall it was a good hotel, it just needs to work on a few areas to become better. Read more

The Q was a very pleasant stay. Front desk went above and beyond the call of duty. We asked for a blues bar and the desk not only found one for us, but gave us a ride, got us in free, and gave us cards for two free drinks. It was a anniversry trip and I decided to book a manicure and pedicure and two massages. The night before our appointment we were told that they were unable to get anybody for our services. I booked the appt. over a week out and still unable to get anybody to cover our services. Also they said the state inspector came in and they did not have the proper […] paperwork to be open. The hotel wasn't horrible it was clean and no bedbugs which was good, but it just wasn't for us. The picture of the room size was waaaay bigger then what we got and my husband and I had to squeeze into a double bed when we thought we were getting two double beds. Didn't make for great sleeping. The furniture looked like it was bought at a bankrupcy […] auction and wasn't in very good shape. The TV was ok but located in a really silly spot next to the bed so if you layed in bed watching it you had a neck cramp very quickly. I guess with it being a green hotel they don't use fabric softner because the sheets and towels were both hard and scratchy. Don't go expecting to be able to crank the A/C either because you only have control of it to a certain extent and my husband and I were warm/hot the whole time especially after having used the shower. Which by the way didn't drain. The positives about the hotel are location and if your there to drink you get two free ones at the hotel lobby bar (very tiny) and it's close to a bunch of bars in Westport. Not what we were really looking for but I'm sure some people will enjoy the small slightly european atmosphere. Read more

Loved the location - it's in Westport and we walked to the Plaza. The bed wasn't great, but it wasn't awful either - horrible pillows. You can upgrade to include the night cocktail and the breakfast for $10 per person when you check in, if you go for the 'room only' rate. We would consider staying there again, but we would bring our own pillows!

Everything about the Q was fabulous!! They met our every need and desire. If they couldn't provide something they made sure you you were taken to it. Would stay there again and have recommended it to others. Friends who have stayed based on our recommendation all agree.

Great value and fun location! The cocktail hour, and subsequent shuttle service to the Royals game, were both outstanding. Marcus, the shuttle driver, shared fun KC facts on the way to the game. In the morning, Steve prepared an excellent made-to-order omelet. We definitely would return to this hotel.

This place doesn't live up to the hype. Seriously outdated decor and musty smelling elevators. We had to pay to "upgrade" our room to get the hot breakfast. Green hotel?? Color me gone!
