"perfect spot for our needs"
It was in a central (for us) location that enabled us to be in the heart of our plans plus it offered many nearby bars & restaurants for evening fun. We didn't have much interaction with the staff outside of check-in and the omelet bar. The food amenities were a great bonus in & of itself although the breakfast lacked options for those with dietary […] restrictions (I'm allergic to cow's milk so the pickings were slim for me). "Disappointed"
We have stayed at the Q Hotel in the past and it appeared to be somewhat shabby and "tired" this time around. The toilet and sink were installed at an angle, the faucet was wobbly, and the drapes did not close all of the way. The set up of the room was not comfortable with the mirrors being across from the sink and the shower/tub part of the bathroom […] being tiny. "Nice lobby, bad beds"
The lobby is great, several sitting rooms, 2 computers, books and fireplace. Breakfast was very nice. We enjoyed our stay at the Q hotel. Room was very clean and staff were friendly. Hotel is very close to many major sites and the hotel's free shuttle service (up to 5 miles radius) was very convenient. "Good - close to the Plaza"
The Q is a great hotel as it's close to the Plaza and in a wonderful neighborhood - Westport. We like to run, and their are terrific running trails nearby. The hotel is a bit funky (the beds don't face the TV, so you have to watch TV sideways) and there isn't anything fancy about the accommodations, but it's great for the price. "Horrible service"
I would never stay at this hotel again. We booked a room with double beds because there was 4 people staying and they put us in a queen bed and had to get cots for two of us to sleep on. I asked about getting us a double room and was treated very rudely. The next day they ended up getting us into a new room after threatening to charge us more for having […] 4 people in the room, which they already knew about. I asked about the shuttle to take us to Kaufmann stadium and was assured it would take us. When I went back down to see what time it was going to come pick us up I found out that it was reserved for a wedding, so we couldn't use it. "Arrived in a blizzard"
We arrived for check-in on a bitter cold day with blowing snow. The hotel was warm and inviting, and the gentleman that checked us in was pleasant, upbeat, and accommodating. The shuttle service was booked (there was a wedding reception at the hotel that evening) so he recommended a restaurant about two blocks down and we set out on foot in the blizzard! […] It was a fun, brisk walk and the restaurant was fabulous! We very much appreciated his recommendation! Breakfast was fantastic - the best omelet I've ever had - seriously! My only complaint is that the neighbor in the next room had a large party with yelling and laughter and slamming doors until about 3am. When hotel staff asked them to quiet down, they moved the party from the hallways into their room, which was great for other guests but bad for us. I would not recommend this hotel. It is typical of older buildings that have been renovated. In our room, we could not turn the heat down. No windows to open. TV only works it lights are on. Pluses: the size of the room was fine, beds were clean, water in shower was hot when needed, quiet. Minuses: phone and alarm didn't work, tub looked dirty and needed to be re-grouted, very few free channels on TV. Also, we asked for a wake-up call at 8am and received a knock on the door at 8:18am. The Q is located in Westport, which is a major nightspot in Kansas City, Missouri. The hotel was within walking distance of many restaurants and small interesting stores.
