"Not accesible"
This hotel was ok but it is not a hotel to use when you are handicap the wheelchair was hard to get around in room. . When we called hotel we were advised it was close to a lot of things they however did not tell us it was prom weekend or that I could not even get to the restaurant due to stairs. We left a day early and was very disappointing all around […] we had to drive clear to olathe for a restaurant because the wait time for anything was about two hours. The parking was valet but very difficult no handicap accessibility unless I wanted to get in my wheelchair in passing traffic and take a chance of causing a accident I had to get out in a alley to get to the hotel. So basically we lost 200.00 by leaving a day early but we could not get to dinning couldn't eat any meals at the hotel and if we ordered something we had to go to lobby to get it the delivery person could not come up to the room. So for a romantic getaway don't use this hotel if you are handicap don't use the hotel and be sure to check and make sure what is going on before you go downtown because prom weekend is not the time to go. Also I normally stay at Argosy Hotel it is so much better but it was full. Last but no least the elevators are so slow and not large at all so off course we had to wait for a empty elevator and being in a wheelchair we took up the whole elevator that is how small they are. "Think twice before booking"
I was staying here overnight with my sister and cousin on our way to Denver. Upon our arrival, the staff members were relatively friendly but did not even welcome us to the hotel. The room we stayed in was fine except for the discovery of what appeared to be feces of some kind smeared on the bed sheets! Thankfully we had two beds. "Not happy."
There was a big group of us that had booked rooms at Hotel Phillips. When we arrived we went to our rooms, we had 2 booked, in 1 of the rooms the air conditioner unit was not working, when we asked for another room they said they were completely booked and sent maintenance to look at it. It was unable to be fixed. So they brought us 2 fans which didn't […] help so we asked for a 3rd fan. Thought about opening a window but they were screwed shut. It ended up being tolerable, but wasn't a great experience. When we checked out the following morning we complained again and the front desk supervisor said they brought us a $25 voucher the night before. "Will not reccomend"
Only great thing about this hotel is the valet drivers. We stayed in room 604 which was about the size of closet. Heat didn't work, wall paper was peeling, mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, ice machine was on another floor, the soda machine on our floor would not take dollar bills, very loud...you could hear every one come and go as the doors slammed […] shut. Bed was very uncomfortable, woke up each morning with a stiff neck and back. Lack of house keeping the last two days of our stay. Very unimpressed with the lack of amenities that competing hotels include. No refrigerator in the room unless you wanted to incur additional fees. "Okay if you have to stay downtown"
Our first night at Hotel phillips we called at 4 pm for bedding for our daughter whom we paid and an $20 a night for. At 130am after picking her up from the airport we get back to the room and no blandkets or anything. So sounds simple right call the front desk and ask where is the bedding we requested over 8 hours earlier. I had chosen the Hotel Phillips because of a friend who told me about it. The decor and staff were very nice. However the hotel wasn't very busy and there was no one else on our floor but they put us in the room right across from the employee area which was very busy and loud. What I expect a current Kimpton hotel to look like in 30 years. Needs a complete overhaul. Rooms are old, carpet had numerous stains, tv was circa 1985, bathroom was dark, walls were dirty, mattresses were old. The bed was old and had the sunken imprints of 2 bodies. Pillows were small and lumpy. Smelled like water damage, musty. Room was not cleaned after first night. Called front office to have it cleaned and after returning it was only half way done. Coffee not replaced and pot not cleaned. Was charged $19 for 1 less than a minute call to a place 2 blocks […] away (later reduced to 95 cents after refuting bill with front office. Hotel bar way overpriced ($15 for small 2 olive martini). My staff and I reserved 3 rooms with the queen hide a bed couch to sleep 6. Rooms were musty and not clean. Dust was present on the nightstands and what I guessed were pieces of broken pretzels on the floor. Carpets are stained in all of the rooms and not up to a 4 star rating. One hide a bed mattress had blood smeared on it. The staff replaced it quickly […] but the thought of it convinced my staff to share the bed and not use the hide a bed couch. Did not get a King size bed as requested upon reservation. They would not give a special deal of any kind for my fiance and I's 3 year anniversary. Would not allow a 1 hour check-out extension. We were disappointed with our room. The room was spacious but with no comfortable seating. A perfect area was available but the space was wasted. "Not Impressed except for valet service!"
The housekeeping was very very poor! Finally around 3:00 pm our 2nd day there, I had to call for housekeeping and to even request clean towels. The girl brought in the towels and left them on the bed. On the following day at around 3:45 I again had to call for housekeeping. About 45 minutes later she came in I had to ask for clean sheets and to make […] the bed. She didn't clean anything. She didn't take the dirty glasses or bring us clean ones, no coffee, when asked about linens for the hide-a-bed she said there were sheets in the closet. When our grandson went to go to bed that night, all that was there was a blanket and a pillow without a pillowcase. The whole time she was in the room she talked about her personal life which was not good. There was one thing that made up for some of the inadequacies and that was the valet service. These guys went way over to make everything right. I have to use a Hoveround and they helped my husband get it up and down off the ramp on the rear of our vehicle. They made sure everything was brought up to our room when arriving and when checking out. It didn't matter how busy they were, they didn't seem to rush you in anyway - only when you were on the road would they would go onto the next person. Not once did we see these guys walk when they were between the hotel and the place where the cars were parked a couple of blocks away. We did tip these fellows very well. They definitely deserved it! But the hotel is v old and the service is poor. we had breakfast included in our stay or so we thought until we went to the restaurant. I booked a room at Hotel Phillips for "girls' weekend get-away.". The entrance of the hotel was very visually impressive and set the tone for what we thought would be a luxurious stay in a quaint hotel. The staff, however, was rude and very unhelpful. They boasted their 24 hour room service, yet seemed very put out by having to take an order after 11:00. […] They also double-charged us for fee we had already paid when booking the reservation. When I called to dispute the charge, they argued and insisted that I didn't know what I was talking about.
