"Soap scum"
Although the room was large compared to most hotel rooms and the bed was very comfortable the service was horrible. I asked to have the tub drained because it filled up while showering leaving soap scum on my ankle so that it looked like I was wearing socks an they never showed up. "Worse Ramada I have stayed at"
When we first got there, the parking lot was not cleared from the previous days snow storm and it was very slippery and even more for the cars safety. The elevator made a beeping noise and would not take us to the floor we chose, but it said that we were there. The breakfast consed of water looking gvavy, ad the eggs had water all througout the bottom. […] There was nothing that Diabtic people can eat, except the watery eggs. There was no blow dryer in my bathroom, but I did not notice it until I got out of the shwoer, and then when we checked out,the lady at thereception desk, said that she hadn't even told housekeeping yet. "Creepy"
The hotel location was horrible, no restaurants or other hotels near by. It was by a train track and lake that looked very sketchy. The hotel had a horrible cigarette stinch to it. A creepy man kept knocking on my door asking for someone and pacing the hallways. People were cursing and running up and down the hallways. When I went to dinner I saw people […] walking the hallways smoking cigarettes. I went to inform the front desk and waiting 5-10min until I actually called the hotel # for someone to come to the front. When I returned from dinner the hotel still rinked and all the hotel staff had done was put up a sign that said no smoking. Then the group of people I turned in came and said some ugly words to me. "Industrial area"
I was not at all happy when the restaurant/bar closed at 8:00 p.m. We checked in after a long day and wanted to eat at the hotel. The restaurant/bar closed early because they didn't have enough help. We had to change rooms because the TV didn't work. The second room, a no smoking room, smelled of smoke and the smoke alarm and a shower cap covering it. […] Obviously, the previous guest had smoked in the room. The shower curtain was held in place by an ink pen. I reported all of this to the front desk the next morning. "NEVER AGAIN"
Had a hard time finding the hotel and we booked with them because it said free wifi and breakfast. Well we paid the extra money and nether of those were true. The room wasn't bad but the carpets were dirty. We wanted a pet friendly hotel with King size bed and ended up with two uncomfortable double beds. The wifi didn't work and when I call I was told […] they reset the modem 3hrs ago and it was because of the setting on my ipad and my laptop. I instructed them that I could connect to the router but not the internet. Finally, they told us breakfast is ready at 6am and when we went down at 6:50 they told us the lady that does breakfast is late and there is no breakfast. WOW really that is what you call A horrible Management team, to depend on 1 person to provide the service that they said they have is wrong. Finally at 7 i was told the engineer would be in to reset the wifi and when i went back up to the front at 8am they instructed me that they were just going to call someone at 9 and at 9 they told me again it was my problem that there was working. I told them this was the 30th hotel that I have stayed in this year and have never had this problem. I finally went over to McDonald to get breakfast and use there wifi and wouldn't you know it, the internet worked there. "found doggie poo behind chair"
they must not move any furniture when/if they clean the rooms. We found a petrified dog poo under one of the chairs when we moved it. My wife found a TON of dust on the desk, pretty nasty (lazy?) cleaning service. Stayed for two days and rooms weren't cleaned on the second day, no clean towels. "2nd time there...not any better"
I've stayed at this establishment twice...mainly due to convenience of location and price. The price is great...however, it is just not that nice of a hotel. They have remodeled the rooms to make them more up to date and modern...which they did. However, my room hadn't been used in a while and when I entered it took over an hour to get it warmed up […] to a comfortable temperature. At one time this hotel was very nice, and I understand that a new owner is in the process of renovating it. That being said, I feel that the rating should be lowered until the renovation process has made more progress. I stayed at a very low price, but if I had paid full price , I would have asked for a refund. I am planning to be back in the city next year and would consider staying at this hotel IF the renovations are completed. Carpet cleaning and wall painting a section at a time would go a long way towards improvement, as would running it like the 3 to 3.5 star hotel it could be instead of like an apartment complex. None of what I have said is meant to reflect, at all, in a negative way towards the staff I encountered during my stay. They were very nice and accomodating. "Dirty and disheveled in KC, MO"
This was the strangest hotel experience I have ever had. The hotel is in the middle of a massive renovation, and is completely torn apart. One of the towers to the hotel is entirely under renovation, but that didn't cause them to close it, so I actually went into the abandoned hotel tower looking for my room, which was really creepy (poorly lit, elevator […] in shambles, I though I was in a NYC crackhouse, waiting to be jumped). When I discovered the mistake, and went to the other tower, I found my room easily, but it was still in a state of not quite ready yet (holes in walls, missing mirrors in bathroom, a leak dripping onto the ceiling of the bathroom from above, and a toilet that made strange noises when flushed - like a long whining cry). When I went to the on-site restaurant - the hotel seemed so remote I didn't want to drive into town (which is where this was supposed to be in the first place - it is not - it is in a remote industrial district, far from anything of interest), they were only serving a very limited menu, slowly. I'll say that the room was otherwise renovated, and a very comfortable bed. And breakfast was good. I would think the hotel would seal off the sections under renovation so they could get focused and protect the customers from seeing all of the dirty work in process. I was unsure about staying in this hotel after reading the reviews but it is worth every penny!! I come to Kansas City on business a few times a month and I will definitely be staying at this hotel again. It is an older hotel but they are doing renovations on it. The rooms have already been renovated and the beds are very comfortable. I asked the girl […] at the desk for the kind of bed they had because I want one for my home. It is close to downtown without all the noise and traffic. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They even printed out a map to the restaurant I wanted. The rooms are very big with a work station desk. I like the fact that they have a lounge to relax in after a long day. "If you can stay somewhere else do so."
We chose this hotel for a 2 day business trip based on several criteria. 1. Location (It was relatively close to where we needed to be) 2. It had to have internet 3) Breakfast and room facilities. OK so location is a personal choice, it's located in the middle of a warehouse district, very quiet at night , that was Ok for us since we were on business. […] About a 10 minute drive down town. It's also located on the edge of a river so it provides a nice back drop, or would have done if the grass had been cut and there had been a path or something down to the river. 2) Internet. This hotel claims to have wireless internet. My business partner arrived on Wednesday and I followed on Friday, we both left on Sunday. Throughout the whole time that we were there neither of us could get our computers or iphones or a blackberry to stay connected for more than a minute or so at a time if at all. In the end I gave up and drove into KC and sat in a Pinera bread for the internet access. We complained several times and as nice as the lady was on the front desk all we got back was a blank stare of helplessness. 3) Breakfast...ha ha, what a joke. If you like eating cereal out of a styrofoam bowl with a plastic spoon come on down! The only thing hot on the cart was scrambled egg and some grits. Some small danish and that was it. Safe to say I ate well at lunch time when I was out with clients away from the hotel. The rooms were a good size and the bed etc was comfortable. As we checked out we asked for the manager to give us a call as she wasn't in. A promise was made to call us the next day. Well it's now three days gone by and no call. I think that says everything you need to know. In fairness to the hotel it looks like the're going through a remodel of some kind and it was half full but even so, if you can avoid I would and probably will as I am in Kansas every month or so.
