Baymont Inn and Suites Tri-Cities/Kennewick WA

The staff was fine. The breakfast was fine. Rooms weren't ready when we checked in at 1 pm, but they were accomodating, letting us get into a room anyway to get my toddler a nap. The place was run down. All the wood doors and fixtures showed a LOT of wear and there were huge patches showing in the bathroom where an old shower curtain rod had been ripped […] out. The hot tub was out of order, but I probably wouldn't have used it anyway. We forgot a pair of my daughter's pants there and the staff is still calling to see if I want to pick it up, so that was actually a big point in favor for me. Most hotels we've stayed in would never hold on to something we left, especially a week later. The location was convenient for us and within walking to a few food places. It's not nice, but decent. Our visit was spoiled by lack of hot water. We were told that the boiler needed fixing. It sure did. Since we had no hot water it did not matter that the shampoo and conditioner tubes were empty. I would not come back.

The first thing my husband did was fix the sink faucet. It was very loose and had to be tightened. One of the two dining chairs was broken and wobbly, and the table was very wabbly. The room was very small, just barely room for the 2 beds and small furniture, especially for two adults and two young teen girls. We could not all sit at the table to play […] a game. Very cramped. The pool was closed for repair the first day and very cold when it reopened. The wifi didn't work half the time. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and it was quiet enough to sleep well. My husband and I just wanted a room for one night with a jacuzzi tub in it. The hotel is in bad need of a remodel - there are no elevators and the decor is badly outdated. We found hairs around the jacuzzi tub, but the rest of the room seemed to be clean. They had one light blanket on the bed, which was fine for my husband, but I was cold all night. I […] called hotels.com to make the reservation, but when we arrived, they had the wrong address listed for me - even the wrong state - so we had to go through the process all over again. I thought this looked like a fairly nice hotel and people who had recently stayed here seemed to give it good reviews. The receptionist upon check-in was extremely rude (not a way to make a good first impression)! The "heated indoor pool" was definitely not heated. Part of the 2nd evening was spent sitting outside. Another guest was cooking dinner (fried […] chicken) in her hotel room and things sparked, causing the food to smoke and setting the fire alarms off. We all had to exit the building and wait til the Fire Department arrived, shut off the alarm and gave the all-clear! The hotel smelled of smoke and burnt food for the rest of the evening! To make matters worse-when I got back to my room, I realized it did not have a smoke detector. They were at least nice enough to move me to another room. My 1 compliment of this hotel goes to the receptionist working the evening all the chaos took place-she remained calm, pleasant and really did a great job, even though there was so much going on! Overall I was not impressed with this hotel and will not return the next time I'm in Kennewick. Read more
