The rooms are nice, with plenty of room, a kitchen, hot tub and room for the whole family to sleep. It's also very close to Disney. That's the good part. The customer service is dreadful. It all starts when you get to get to the hotel. After hours spent driving, flying, hauling luggage and dealing with crying kids, all you want to do is get your room […] key and go upstairs. At Lake Buena Vista hotel the check in process requires dealing with 2-4 people. First person gives you the key, papers to sign and asks for a credit card. You should be finished here. Instead you need to get on line with the 2nd person for your parking pass. Why can't person # 1 give you that? Person #2 gives you the outlet sales pitch, talks your ear off, and asks if you're going to the parks. If you are, he wants to send you to person # 3. Imagine standing in a line of people and you just want to go upstairs. Now imagine having to run the gauntlet of sales pitches, but only after the slow people in front of you hear theirs (and ask a dozen questions). If you had items shipped to the hotel ahead of your stay, you need to see person # 4. Why couldn't they put it in your room? 1 person could have given you everything you needed. If you call the front desk as I did several times, you'll hear things like "there's nothing we can do" and "do you want me to come, or not?". Not a single person there had customer service training. Hotel outside appearance is very nice!. We rented a 2 bedroom suite. Once inside it is very dissapointing. The hotel furniture is all broken and in very bad condition. "Wish I could have a do over! Very disceptive!"
I began reading more reviews as our trip got closer and what a mistake this turned out to be. It was very basic and not very comfortable. Beds were like sleeping on boards or camping out. rooms were good size but the little things just weren't there, remotes didn't work, some mold in bath and kitchen, carpet stains and not having fresh towels everyday […] begins to wear on you. Also the pirate slide feature which is the big draw to families is sort of a sham b/c it is just a slide and nothing else. Pool was generally cold so make sure you stay on a hot week. Fridge was broke. Bedroom TV remote didn't work, main TV had a grey box covering the screen all the time. The bed sheets don't fit the bed (and this was not just my room - many late night hot tub conversations with other guests had the same complaint). Upon arrival was told the only room available was in Bldg 2 (which I had heard is in poor condition) and the highest floor was 3 (had requested Bldg 5 higher floor but unavailable due to large teenage groups). Partial were replaced upon request. Refrigerator had a leak and noticed water being caught by small plasitc egg holder. Unit not supplied with extra toilet paper; took 2 calls over a period of 45 minutes to receive when ran out. Bug in kitchen, carpet in need of replacement throughout unit as well as building hallways. Dryer know spun so that you did not know what temperature clothes were actually being dried on. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT stay here. When i checked in they didn't want to let me stay without a credit/debit card, but when i had called before i booked they said i could bring a cash deposit. I got put on hold 3X by front desk just to be told i would have to walk to the main building to use the lobby PC. It was late, 30 degrees out &my kids just had a bath! I called front desk for a taxi to go to church on xmas &the driver didnt have a meter. He wasnt sure where to go & then insisted on waiting for me to be done to take us to the next destination after he couldn't get ahold of another driver. "Looks Can Be Deceiving"
At first we thought that our stay would be great. The place looked very nice and they upgraded our room for free (do to an overbooking). However, after staying there for several days, we realized that looks can be deceiving. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. The walls were paper-thin, so we could hear every movement of the people above us. […] The service was terrible. Every time we tried to ask a question, the employees answers were always either, "No," or, "I don't know." The employees handing out shuttle passes didn't even know how far it was to Animal Kingdom. Lets start by being told by the Hotel Counter Staff that room check-in is at 4:00pm but come back by 2:00 pm and the room will be ready! Never happenned! Came back at 2:00,3:00, and then 4:00, and still the room wasn't ready? Finally got the room at 4:20, un-acceptable! Then the room smelled like the previous guest(s) smoked a couple of packs of cigarettes […] (it stunk)! Called the front desk and complained and was informed something would be done about it, Never happened! Called 'AGAIN' the next day and this time someone did come. "Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa"
Stayed here in July 2009 and it was fantastic. Stayed again in July 2011 and the room we were given was absolutely disgraceful. It didn't look as if it had been cleaned properly in months. The vent to the air conditioning unit was so thick with dust it couldn't possibly have been serviced anytime in the last year at least! The fridge had most of its […] innards missing. Half of the socket that the toaster was plugged into was missing i.e. broken exposing the wires. The patio door didn't close / lock. One of the chairs had a huge nail sticking out of it just at the right height to seriously injure any toddler or, in our case, unsuspecting adult. I have lots of photos of the damage which given that they ask for credit card details and charge for any missing / damaged items I felt were necessary in case they tried to charge us for it. Needless to say we didn't stay in the room which incidently was in Block 2. The hotel did move us to another room in another block but I won't be rushing back as that one wasn't particularly clean either. No-one wants to start their holiday by having to change rooms particularly after a long flight and with young children in tow. This hotel would easily go to number one on my list to return […] - if they would clean it and update it. The bedding in particular was old, polyester style. I didn't have one decent nights sleep - the fitted sheet on our bed kept coming off on the corners so we were sleeping on bare matress half the time (yuck). The blankets were basically thin pieces of foam. For future - if the TV's in the room are old-style tube tv's - then you can be assured the hotel hasn't been updated for last 10-15 years.
