My boyfriend and I traveled to Orlando from Miami. I am 22 and he's 25 -easily pleased. After reading all of the horrible reviews, I was skeptical about booking the hotel. Paying $70 for 2 nights over a holiday weekend was hard to pass up. However I prepared myself for the worst. we chose to bring our own blankets, pillows and towels. The hotel looked […] rundown, but it's proximity to universal studios and surrounding restaurants was incomparable. Checkin was a breeze They charged 25cents to use the ice machine. I put my quarter in and found the machine was broken I went to the front desk the man apologized and filled my bucket with ice from the small cafe. It was a very safe neighborhood. We walked down international dr to the iHop (conveniently located right across the street with the sweetest waitresses and free wifi). The hotel does offer free wifi available in the lobby. Our room: I expected a weird smell, didn't have one. The beds were sunken in and the sheets looked used (grateful for blankets and pillows brought from home). The carpet was clean enough. All lights worked correctly. The shower was small but had good water pressure. Our AC unit was temperamental. We had it on "on" so that it would run continuously throughout the night, but it would go on every 30 minutes for about 5 minutes. "Near Universal"

"Close but no cigar."

I must admit, my expectations weren't the highest considering the extremely affordable price. But I was okay with this, as me and my girl just needed a place to crash for the night close to universal studios. But to say the least, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, clean rooms, felt safe, all appliances in good working conditions, no signs […] of any insects/rodents. Guest services was very helpful. I would with great enthusiasm recommend this place to any staying for a short weekend. Only issues were that the continental breakfast was sub-par and the courtesy shuttle is not flexible. the hotel was great for the price. i mean we only slept there. there were a couple of issues i had. the one was the complimentary continental breakfast. i dont think rows of white and wheat toast, corn flakes, frosted flakes and watered down orange juice counts. Close to Universal, where we were visiting. Room was clean, but missing some amenities like the coffee maker and alarm clock, but it didn't bother us since we just needed a one-night place to sleep. However, my room did not have a hairdryer and it took over 1 hour from the time I made the request, to the installation (which only took 30 seconds). The hot water is minimal in the morning. "On a budget? Its worth the savings!"
As the saying goes "you get what you pay for" but in this case it was not a bad thing. The staff was friendly. Our 1st room had a leaking toilet and they quickly moved us up to a much better room on the top floor, near the elevator near no noise at all. The room was comfy, but the beds are a little small. The shower is big enough for 1 person (be aware). […] There is no on-site restaurant but you are right next door to a pizza place and a KFC . Anything else you need is right on I-Drive within walking distance. So the location is nice, but be aware its kinda of tucked away. I decor needs to be updated and there are not many channels. Universal and City walk are about a 3 min drive so that's a BIG plus! There free breakfast we did without because all they served was toast,coffee,tea,milk,frosted flakes and OJ, but hey for those on a budget like us it was good to get coffee and tea on the house! There is a game room downstairs with 3 games and a microwave (totally weird) and a gift shop that sells a lot of nick knacks and discounted souvenirs. I think theres a little pool bar that sells some food but we never bothered to check it out.
