International Drive's largest claim to fame is the Universal Orlando Resort, home to two theme parks — Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios; the water park, Wet 'n Wild; and the entertainment area, CityWalk. "Nice stay but hotel needs some maintenance"
I used to stay at the Wingate 6 and 7 years ago on trips to Orlando. For a number of reasons I hadn't been back until this past trip in Jan 13. Hotels.com was running a 25% off special and I remember the hotel as being nice, reasonably quiet, and a step above some others, so I booked it. They still offered a reasonable breakfast with some fruit, juice, […] waffles, psuedo-eggs, sausage patties, muffins/toast, two choices of cereal, and coffee/tea. The indoor hot tub was functional and clean, but the fitness room equipment was mostly not working and badly needed upkeep. The room was large and clean with refrigerator and microwave, but the sink didn't have a stopper and had been recoated with the coating now peeling off. Heat/air conditioning unit was noisy, but did work. TV was a flat screen and was the bright spot in the room. I would like to apologize for the minor issue you experienced while here. Our hotel does offer a Business Center open 24 hours a day located just next to the Front Desk. You have the capability to logon onto your personal email, and print anything to the copy machine in the room. Our shuttle is handled through Universal Studios so we do not have any choice on the times or how often it runs. In case you will be returning to Orlando before the end of the year, Universal has arranged for a 2nd shuttle to take guests to the theme parks. This hotel can not decide whether they want to be a motel or a hotel. We had a rude check-in. Our room was spacious and nice but on our second nite our bed was not done! I thought that was unacceptable. The hotel is right next to a bunch of eataries like IHop, KFC and Tacobell and is superclose to Universal Studios.
