Worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. First, the door looked like someone had tried to kick or pry it in. The towels were off white and extremely thin, the bath tub looked like it had been repainted white, the toilet set rocked and let's not get me started on the bed. Uncomfortable, blanket and comfortable smelled unclean and the pillows were flat. […] We booked two nights and only stayed on, only because we came home from the parks too late to book anywhere for that night. We payed $150 to stay in a different hotel our second night because we felt unclean and unsafe. This really sucks too because the location is so awesome and being right across from Universal made it ideal for us but this is by far the worst Days Inn I have ever stayed in. "Very budget minded but close to Universal"
This hotel served it's purpose. A 15 minute walk to Universal Studios and cheap. Check-in is later at 4pm though and I wasn't greeted to nicely by staff as they had several people in there and were overwhelmed. "A+ Service A+ Room A+ Vacation!"
Ok so from the outside it really is not much to look at. It looks a little run down, and the area is next to an empty lot....but looks are totally decieving! The staff was accomadating, friendly and just plain awesome. They made my b-day trip that much better. They upgraded my room (upon arrival we were told the room we booked was closed for painting) […] BUT they were going to upgrade the room at no extra cost! Then we wanted to stay an extra night so we got a super rate and got to stay in the same room again! I swear I think we got the best room in the whole hotel! It was one king bed, tile floors, nice sofa, nice tv and a nice size shower. Everything was clean and the bed was nice and comfy! The best perk of all was we were litterly right across the street from Universal Studios/Islands Of Adventure! What a nice convienience. We have stayed here several times and this was the worst stay. It is close to Universal but there attitude towards complaints is poor. Our room had a cricket living in AC unit and our room faced the expressway so sleep was not had. There Maintanece of the outside was poor. "Days Inn-Universal Studios- Never again!"
This hotel has a great location, and the overall cleanliness of the place were the only things it had going for it (minus the swamp water behind the buildings covered in litter). Our hotel room was clean, but very dated. I think we got about 9 total channels on the 1990's tube tv. The shower had more water coming out of the faucet then the showerhead […] while trying to take a shower. It was very hard to find a comfortable water temperature, since more than half the water was being wasted down the drain. After unpacking and finally getting to go out for the night, we realized our door wasn't latching behind us. Everytime we pulled the door shut, it would open back up. After many attempts, my boyfriend realized we had to pull up on the door and pull it shut so it would latch properly. We denied room service the 3 days we were there, because we didn't want to risk the chance of our belongings being accessible to everyone on the motel grounds. It is pretty bad when we felt it safer to lock our valuable belongings in the car, rather than our own hotel room. As we were leaving that first night, we were given a farewell by some thugs hanging out on the balcony holding up their red shirts signifying their "blood" gang affiliation. I almost lost it. I immediately began checking other hotel rooms on my phone to see if there were other hotels near by for the rest of our stay. I did not go to the office on this because the reservations said non refundable, and cancellations would lose all monies paid. After that first night, we didn't see them again...thank goodness!! For the price range we were in, I would spend an extra $10/nt and stay at one of the many other hotels down the street or anywhere else for that matter. We were charged an extra 2.00/nt plus tax while we were checking out for an unpaid balance. When inquiring about what was unpaid since we had paid for our room in advance. I will never go back to this hotel nor would I recommend it. There was exposed wiring behind our head below the headboard, which had a lamp and the alarm clock plugged into an outlet right next to it. The phone did not work and due to the electrical shortage, we did not have an alarm clock. I am 5'2" and the showerhead was just above me. Yes you get wi-fi, but it is only available at the LOBBY. Resort fee was not bad considering it was only like $2.25 per night. Housekeeping was awesome and they did a great job in making our beds neat and supplying us with new towels/bathroom goods/ cleaning the room. There was a small bug in the bathroom when we first got in, but no big deal. Ice machine […] looked very ancient and run down, but it did the job of giving me buckets of ice. The location was not bad. I highly suggest other hotels nearby such as the Doubletree or the Holiday Inn if you are planning to walk. We waited for the complementary shuttle service to Universal Studios and it never came. "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly"
Well...you do get what you pay for. PROS: Price Location Our customer service interactions were good The pool area was kept up very well CONS: Broken air conditioner both ice machines broken maintenance was lacking overall for the property Only wifi location was in the main lobby boiling showers We stayed at this hotel from the 9th through the 13th […] of May, our first night the air conditioner was broken but we were so tired we just crashed, after going to the park the next day I complained about it and was immediately given another room identical except it had a refrigerator so it was an upgrade in my eyes (not all rooms have these) also our new room had wifi access. The shower had two settings in both rooms hot or scalding hot, not what you want after walking around the park in 90 degree weather. Though on check out I overheard a very irate family being very vocal how they had nothing but cold water for the past two days and empty promises that it would be fixed. On our third night the a/c began to crap out on us and as I checked the filter a cockroach flew out at me. If I was to do this place over again, I would bring my own pillows, maybe my own sheets. "Great price, you get what you get what you pay for"
This Days Inn was in a great location, at a very low price, but you get what you pay for. We stayed 2 nights and went to Universal. The room was very clean. We liked the tile floors rather than ratty carpet. The staff was very nice. But... if you are looking for amenities, this is not the place to go. If you didn't get clean in the shower, don't worry. […] The towels were rough as sandpaper and would remove any remnants of remaining soil. Speaking of shower, we had to prop the tub stopper up, and it still didn't drain as fast as the shower added water. The reception on the television was terrible, not even worth trying to watch. The lid on the toilet was very obviously not made for that toilet. The bed and pillows, however, were actually very comfortable. There is a food mart/gift shop on premises and a very nice restaurant/bar, We attempted the shuttle one day, but it was almost already full when it arrived at the hotel. We gave up on that and went with taxis. This actually worked out very well. Because of the close proximity, cab rides were only $4 to $7 each way and dropped you off and picked you up right at the entrance. Would I stay here again? For one or two nights, absolutely. I booked a 3 night room in the hotel. The rooms were a bit difficult to find. No boards were in place which showed where we need to head to. The hospitality of the staff was pretty poor. The advantage I found was tht Universal studios were pretty close. Free internet is available only in the lobby. Had not tried their breakfast. We just stayed one night here on our weekend to FL. It's close to Universal, but not within walking distance. Also, there's a "Resort Fee", which I would hardly consider Days Inn a "resort." "Our stay was a nightmare"
The AC in our room wasn't working when we checked in. We told the front desk and they would work on it. We left for the evening and returned only to find the room hot (95 degrees outside!) We were told someond would fix it IN THE MORNING. We also were told there were no other rooms available. A party tent was just outside our room and they were loud […] and partying until after midnight. Phone in the room only worked when you "jiggled" the wire. At 2.00 am I called the front desk again and was offered a handicap room BUT we had to totally vacate our room (rather than just go over to stay the night and return to pack up the next day.) So at 2:30 AM we were dragging our luggage to another room. The new room had a puddle of water in the floor from the AC the was spreading.
