This Welches resort is 10 miles from the Mount Hood Skibowl. The Timberline Lodge & Ski Area is within easy reach, and Portland International Airport and downtown Portland are both within 45 miles of the resort.
Hotel Features.
Surrounded by 300 acres of evergreens, the pet-friendly Resort at The Mountain features 27 holes of championship golf and an 18-hole putting green. A full-service health spa provides 7 treatment rooms, a Vichy shower, steam rooms, and a relaxation area with a fireplace. Other recreation options include a seasonal outdoor pool with year-round spa tub, 4 tennis courts, a fitness center, bicycles, and regulation croquet. The fine-dining Altitude restaurant specializes in cuisine using locally and regionally sourced ingredients, and room service is available. A family-friendly pub is open seasonally. Popular for weddings and retreats, the resort offers 15,000 square feet of event space. Wireless and wired high-speed Internet access is available throughout the resort. This is a smoke-free property. A total renovation of this property was completed in December 2009.
Guestrooms.
The Resort at The Mountain has 157 non-smoking guestrooms, all with patios or balconies, beds with memory-foam mattresses, and wireless and wired Internet access. Desks include ergonomic chairs, and 42-inch wall-mounted plasma HDTVs have cable channels. Bathrooms feature bathrobes, rainfall showerheads, designer toiletries, and hair dryers. Alarm clocks have iPod docking stations, and multi-line phones include voice mail. Rooms also provide refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, and laptop-compatible safes. Pets are accepted only in certain room types.

Everything was very nice. We would have liked a table with chairs around it for playing games, etc. and a microwave for popcorn and cocoa. . .They provided a credit for meals at the restaurant, and they advertised a Sunday Brunch buffet. "And they call this a resort?"
I guess its because I've been to "real" resorts in the past, where they have activities going on for kids and adults, an indoor pool/spa, nature trails.... this place is more like an overpriced motel with a restaurant that has the poorest service I've ever experienced. The room was relatively clean, but no larger or more comfortable than most motels […] I've stayed in. The hot tub was dirty, and the outdoor pool had a giant tent over it that barely covered the whole pool, which means when you walked into this big bubble, you almost walked right into the pool itself, which is not a good thing if you have toddlers like I do. We had dinner and then breakfast at the Altitude, their attached restaurant. The service was slower than a snail climbing up a staircase. Dinner took an hour to be served, and breakfast took nearly 30 minutes. The one saving grace is that they had delicious mac & cheese. Alas, that is not enough for us to return. "The Resort a the Mountain: a family-friendly place"
This is where we like to stay when we are skiing in Mount Hood. The Resort is located off HWY 26 at the bottom on the mountain, 15-30 minutes to any skiing. Plus, we really like the homey feel of Welches, OR. Government Camp is too touristy for the likes of us. The Resort is very family friendly. We stayed here this past Christmas and once two winters […] ago. We have stayed in a 1-BR suite and the king fireplace studio. Both rooms were spacious, clean with up to date furnishings, unlike the exterior. The Resort has a network of beautifully manicured sidewalks connecting the different buildings. There is a decent spa and exercise facility. I wouldn't stay here just for the spa services. This is a golfing resort that provides great lodging for the Mount Hood area. Here is what sets them apart from other places: -Great service! We accidentally made 2 unrefundable reservations and decided to change the reservation dates. They worked with us to figure out the best option. -The main building has complementary hot teas, coffee and hot chocolate all day. I love picking up a fresh cup of coffee and hot chocolate on our way out in the mornings. There are comfy couches and board games so you can just hang out here. -The Resort is quaint and my kids love exploring the snow covered landscape and playground -There is a washer and dryer on the second floor of every building, although it is not marked. Being able to do laundry conveniently at a reasonable price ($1.00/wash/dry) is important to a family on a ski trip. -There is family friendly activities hosted by the Resort. During our last stay, they had breakfast with Santa, where kids can meet Santa and get a small gift. -Each room has a balcony with tables and chairs. -There is a heated pool and hottub. -Near proximity to state parks, skiing, and part of The Oregon Trail. Nice place to come back to after a long day on the mountain. The staff went out of there way to make us comfortable. My son had locked his can of pepsi in the safe and forgot his password. you would have thought the world was going end. So I called the front desk to ask if there was anyway to get into it. "Nice - too expensive for summer offering."
Stayed in Crofts, which turned out to be designed for dog owners. View was out onto a dog run complete with dog feces station. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Not many amenities at all, though. No microwave, for example. We did enjoy the area with a nice walk in the nearby wilderness. And the pool was quite nice, as well. "four star hotel with three star features"
This is a lovely property. However, the room was to have a cot and it was not there. There were a few bugs in the room. The sill on the shower was even installed backwards so that the water ran down the door and out onto the bathroom floor instead of into the shower stall. My last stay was 3 years ago and I wasn't very impressd with the rooms (old school) and althought the golf course has one of the most 1st holes I have ever seen it wasn't enough to make up for the room.
