We were very disappointed with our stay at the Holiday Inn. We were visiting Disneyland and needed a hotel for the night. We arrived late and were very frustrated to see the hotel was under renovation and it was never mentioned by the representative we spoke with at Hotels.Com. The rooms were good but due to recent remodeling our service in our restroom was bad. The sink would hold the water and not drain it after 3-5 minutes and the smell was really bad due to back flow. We did tell maintenance and offered to move us to another room but it was too late in the night and our vacation was almost over. The pressure in our shower […] was really weak. "Comfortable for large families"
Even under construction the hotel was very clean and quiet. The new bathroom sink and shower were not very logical. When you washed or brushed your teeth , the water went all over the counter. The hotel was under construction so the office was makeshift but the staff was so nice and helpful and although most of the hotel hasn't been finished yet, we got into our room and it had been re-done already! "Great deal while hotel is being renovated!!!"
The Holiday Inn Express is one of the only few hotels near Disneyland that offers free parking. Fortunately, the rates are more favorable than other nearby hotels, because it's undergoing major renovation. I think the rates will definitely go up, once they're done. The room was nicely updated with laminate flooring, contemporary furniture and fixtures, […] as well as a modern Samsung LCD TV! The only questionable update in the room is the huge wallpaper image of pecans (or maybe walnuts). I didn't feel that it offered anything to the room. If anything, it was a really big distraction. One pleasant feature about the room is that the in-wall A/C unit could be controlled electronically from a wall mounted digital thermostat, which is way better than freezing in the middle of the night, because you had to leave the A/C running. The bathroom is also nicely updated with a glass shower door instead of the typical shower curtain. The shower walls had an earthy concrete and rock fragment design. The only flaw I could point out in the bathroom was that I felt that the faucet didn't extend far enough into the sink. So, the water kept getting spilled onto the counter. "Nice rooms thin walls...Terrible!!!"
We booked the room for a family trip to Disneyland. We were advised the day of our arrival that maintenance was being done on the property between the hours of 8:30-5. It was last minute so we figured we would be at the park so it would not be a problem. We arrived early morning Saturday and we hear noise upstairs and it sounded like people's moving […] furniture. We were so tired we all just went to sleep. The next night around 9pm we hear constant stomping and furniture moving above us. We had to call the front desk twice and heard the phone ringing because the walls were so thin and it was next door to our room. We heard doors slamming throughout the night and people talking. Our room would sometimes rattle from the stomping. The front desk called the people upstairs but it did not help. The noise upstairs kept waking our family up throughout the night. We had to call a 3rd time around 7 am the next morning and we were told by the front desk that they couldn't hear the noise and offered to move us to a new room. We called back a 4th time and finally they offered to move us to their sister property next door with no charge and they also refunded us back 1 nights stay due to the noise level. The upgraded rooms are nice but I would never stay at this property again. The walls are too thin. I have never experienced anything like that before in my life. I was extremely disappointed. Pros: very short walking distance to Disney gates. We walked to and from hotel to Disney twice a day with a 3 yr old and a 7mth old. Rooms was very quite and clean!!! This could be a great hotel for the money. Good size rooms, the service and breakfast is great, very convenient to Disneyland (.6 mile walk to gate), many reasonable dining options within walking distance. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Disneyland, but the parking garage and breakfast were a nice bonus. We had no trouble finding a spot in the underground garage, even though it was a holiday weekend. "Motel masquerading as a hotel"
Normally, Holiday Inns are nice and comfortable. I choose this hotel because of the price and closeness to Disneyland. This hotel very obviously used to be a motel. You can see how it was enclosed. Now, the only window to the outside faces a hallway. There aren't even blackout curtains, just a thin white curtain. When we arrived, there wasn't really […] good parking. We parked in the crowded lot behind the hotel (temporarily) and went to check in. The front service was sub par. There were three people at the front desk and the girl who checked us in had a snobbish personality. She showed us around the meger lobby area and then we went to park. Parking is underneath the hotel in a locked garage. Getting into the garage, you have to turn very sharply and very close to the wall. I was afraid I'd damage the rental car trying to pull in so I my husband had to get out and activate the gate. The room had a motel quality look and a moldy smell to it. The a/c was a floor unit that rattled loudly. The Tv was a small older model. Not like the flat screen HD tv I've come to expect in a hotel of this quality and price. The hotel was a 10 minute walk from disneyland, and a 5 min walk to multiple restaurants and a sad outdoor mall with a lot of potential. If I come back to anaheim, I won't stay at this hotel. I'd rather pay a little extra and stay at one of the disney resort inns. The walls are thin and you can hear everything. "Fabulous Staff - Tired Old Hotel"
My husband and I stayed here one Sunday night, planning on going to Disneyland the following day. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and gracious! They really were fabulous. The lobby was very nice - updated and clean. However, the hotel was not how it appeared online. Our room door and window opened to what used to be an outdoor hallway, now […] closed in by windows. The very bright "hall" lights stayed on all night, and shone through the dark curtain. The room, though very clean, had an odor. The floor sloped so badly, I felt dizzy while moving about the room. The A/C-heat was too loud to run, and since it was cold out, I couldn't leave the one small window open to get rid of the smell. While walking down the corridor to the elevator, it also sloped and I ended up leaning in the opposite direction. The next morning, the electricity went out, and it took the manager and assistant 20 minutes to open the gate to the garage manually - 1 inch at a time! They did it while apologizing and were gracious about it. We were unable to take advantage of the free breakfast, due to the electrical outage. "Holiday Inn near Disneyland"
We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a King Suite with a whirlpool tub. It wasn't a suite as in two rooms, but was good sized and had a two person whirlpool jacuzzi tub in the room. We did have a problem with the smoke detector going off twice because they were doing work on the 4th floor (we didn't hear any construction noise though which was nice) […] and our microwave broke, but they replaced it quickly for us. The breakfast in the morning wasn't amazing, but it got us going for our days at Disneyland. It is a little further than some hotels, but still a comfortable walking distance. We walked back and forth a couple times a day with my one year old to take naps and such and didn't find it a long or difficult walk with her at all. Wasn't at all satisfied with this hotel. When we opened the door the smell of urine hit us like a rock. The air conditioner, which hung out the window rattled and banged all night long. Not something anyone would want to deal with after a 14 hour drive to get there. To top it off the toilet wouldn't flush right and we had to wait to use the restroom […] at Disneyland.
