well first off the lobby was very dirty the restroom in the lobby was filthy floor was nasty and toilet also a durty mop was in there to the employees do not have any coustomer service skills, they complianed about having to put roll away matresses in the room. mattres in room was saggin and rooms smelled very bad the carpet were very dirty and shower […] was filthy and room attendants were all outside talking and hugging on there boy friends and kissing them , staff there was less than helpful in any way. I was a head house keeper at a major hotel chain for over 15 yrs. and the way we were treated buy the staff and the condition in which the rooms were in was not good at all needless to say we are never going to stay at this property again! i only give it a one star as there are no lower stars than that simply put i would rather stay in a tent than at the Howard Jhonson in Flagstaff! "Not Being Maintained"
I did not stay!! Room was HOT. AC would not cool it down. Went to front desk and was told that maintenance person would be back in 30 minutes. (How many times have you heard that one!) When first going to the room assigned, it has not been made up yet. This was past 3 in the afternoon! This sometimes happens so my wife and I went down the street to […] eat. When we returned I lugged our luggage up the two flights of stairs and was hoping that the room was ok. After allowing enough time for the ac to do it's job it did not. After hearing the story from the desk, I went to the motel next door and secured a room there for the night (It was downstairs and the ac worked). At this HJ I noticed a lot of people, 8 or so, outside of their rooms sitting and standing outside. I had to assume that they had the same problem and it was not just the room I was assigned. "Pay for what you get"
If you are a road wanderer and don't really care about the quality and cleanliness of your room then you won't mind this hotel. We travel with our dog and this hotel makes you feel like a real second class citizen if you do. Put you in the dirtiest rooms with broken toilets and clogged up tubs. Impossible to sleep on the bed as the mattress was terrible. I had to pile the four pillows under my back to stop the pain. The water in the bathroom sink ran out onto the bathroom floor instead of through the drain pipes. When I informed the front desk the young girl was "unimpressed" & didn't seem too worried about it. The "breakfast" was sugary carbs: […] bagels, donuts, waffles. Nothing edible. I had to turn the incredibly noisy heater off even though the temperature dropped into the teens at night so I could try to sleep on the ancient mattress. The people at the hotel were so rude. 30 min after breakfast started they were out and I asked if there was going to be any more, they said first come first serve. it was also very dirty. "Unsatisfied with Desk Help"
We stayed for 3 nights. I would have given a 4 rating but, there was 4 different situations that warranted only a 1. If there was a 0, I would rate it that. The first was the microwave didn't have a plate. We were blown off when asking about it. Second was we asked for a couple extra pillows. We were told by the desk clerk that she would bring them […] to us. By the time we checked out (2 days later) they were nowhere to be seen. We will not be staying there again. In a month or so, we will be trying another hotel in the area. We are very easy to please, but service personnel should learn to follow through with what they tell paying customers. Thirdly, the maids start cleaning very early in the morning. They are ridiculously noisy and opened our door at 7:30am to clean our room, when we had 2 more days to stay there. Checkout is posted at 11:00am. What is going on here? At least have a do not disturb sign, for guests to display. And forth, We found a hair in the bed, that was not ours!!! "Howard Johnson in Flagstaff"
Unless you are desperate I would note consider staying at this hotel. The bed was uncomfortable and the second room we requested was small and the bathroom appeared unclean. The first room we were given was larger and the arrangement was very pleasant, however it was next to the maintence man who lives on the property. He played LOUD music all evening […] and hung out on the balcony drinking beer and never closed his door. After an hour or two of this we requested the second room which was not as nice, but at least a little quieter. This hotel was also closer to the railroad tracks than the other Hotels up Lucky Lane.
