"Comparison"
Not as nice as Salt Lake City hotel which I love. Fair at best but clean. No elevator to second floor. Fast food restaurant associated with hotel next door was ok and less expensive than the restaurant in the hotel. Could use an update...water faucets leaked in sink and tub, light bulbs burned out. "Just like home"

"close to everything we wanted to do"
We enjoyed our stay in Flagstaff and the hotel. The parking was a little crazy in the evenings however as this was a holiday weekend and the hotel was packed. The one thing that kind of irritated me the most was that upon returning to the hotel on Sunday night, a group of 8 of us went to the hotel bar for a nightcap and we were told upon arriving that […] they were closed. We were very disappointed and I think that there should have been some sort of warning that the BAR could/would close early if their business was slow. This is an interesting hotel. We needed a place to stay for one night, on our way from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon. This is an "iconic" hotel for Flagstaff. Although the furniture and decor were a bit outdated, it added to the charm of the hotel. The rooms were HUGE. If you're looking for a no-frills place to stay that's very comfortable, you'll have no problem. Note that this is NOT in the heart of downtown or the old area of Flagstaff. Kinda out of the way off the highway - about a 10 minute drive to town. But very quiet!! Only minor problem was check-out. The rooms have the old fashioned metal keys (vs. key cards). "Comfortable, cosy hotel perfect for everyone!"
We stayed here for 1 night this February and really enjoyed this hotel. The location is surprisingly cosy bearing in mind how close it is to the main roads in and out of Flagstaff. The 3 of us stayed in a 2-queen bed room which had plenty of space for us all without feeling cramped and had a nice view over the ponderosa pine trees. The room itself […] was clean, spacious and the furniture was in the style advertised. Bathroom was also clean and entirely functional but of course not luxurious. The grounds of the hotel are very nice and we enjoyed wandering around and taking in the winter air. The restaurant in the hotel serves good, decent if not spectacular food - overall our dinner was very tasty and breakfast was excellent. Prices are very reasonable for what are generous portions. We stayed here on our trip to Flag to celebrate our anniversary. The forest behind the hotel makes for a lovely setting, forest view room is definitely worth it. Enjoyed watching from our balcony as the cute Abert's Squirrels played behind our building. The rooms are very spacious and classy. The sheets were excellent(and that is something I'm picky […] about) and the bed was comfortable with nice pillows. The Tiffany Tree lounge in the hotel was a great spot for a romantic evening drink. Very classy! Things I didn't particularly like: The guy at the front desk when I checked in was not very warm or friendly. The mini fridge is in the bathroom, and it is a *tiny* fridge. The rooms were large and clean. Rooms offered a safe, mini fridge, hair dryer, and iron. The grounds were well manicured and although it is right off the highway you really don't knwo it when looking at the grounds. No posting of charges the night before so when I went to check out they did not have the current room charges. "A Well Maintained 40 Year Old."
From the looks of things the facility must have been built in the mid 70s, but has been well maintained. We had a single King suite that had a separate table love seat and side chairs. Total floor space was well over 2 times that of average King rooms. Furniture was French country and the whirlpool tub was clean, functional, and appeared to be less […] than 5 years old. Like many hotels they have moved to the single cup in room coffee makers, that use what can best be described as pencil shavings for grounds. This was a disappointment to someone like me who packs their own Starbucks. The older 4 cup makers were far more accommodating. Real glass glasses, and “china” coffee cups were a nice touch. We stayed there 2 nights before and after our 1 full day trip to the Grand Canyon. If you can’t stay at the GC, then this is probably the best (but not the closest) place to stay and would definitely consider staying again, and extending the stay just to hang out in the Flagstaff area. The only meal we had was the Sunday brunch, which is a little higher priced than the weekday affair, but well worth the price. The coffee served in the resturant was far better than the in-room "stuff". Would have liked to go back to the room to sleep it off, but checkout time was approaching. Upon check-in, the staff was very friendly and helpful, as we chose to upgrade our room to a room away from the freeways - it was handled quickly and professionally. We were very pleased with the size of our room, the views and the cleanliness.
