The Liberty hotel is beautiful!!! It used to be a jail that was renovated, the ceilings were lifited and the décor is impeccable. The room had rustic exposode brick walls and floor to ceiling windows!!! A deep relaxing tub!!! Separate shower. Comfy robes!!! And they upgraded us to a king size bed for free!!! Best Valentine's day ever!!! It's right outside […] the Boston T and right next door to the Massachusetts general hospital but I only saw 1 ambulance the whole time I was there (apperantly the hospital has different entrances that keeps ambulances off the main streets). It is also within walking distance to so many great bars and restaurants, oh and the hotel has a restaurant called: the clink! A bar called Alibi and the cat walk!!! Which is on an actual cat walk!!! 24/7 room service!!! It was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ideal antidote for after the family holiday"
To be in the midst of Boston and then embraced by comfort and luxury after spending the holidays meeting obligations was incredible. The Liberty Hotel offered my wife and I the perfect respite after meeting all the family obligation over Chirstmas.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Our stay was fantastic from check in with complementary glasses of champagne to the hand written acknowledgement of our anniversary to the check out with water bottles in our car for the ride home. "Not sure it was worth the price!"
My husband and I had planned on staying here (his idea) to celebrate our anniversary - and then the Red Sox won the World Series, so we knew we needed to plan carefully! We got to the hotel around 10:30AM and had mimosas at CLINK. The bartender was very friendly and personable, as were the rest of the guests at the bar. The concierge desk held our bag […] with no problem at all, so we were able to spend the day out around town. When we finally checked in, we learned that there was a Halloween party that night and needed wristbands to ID us as guests of the hotel. We hadn't realized that anything was going on that night (I didn't notice anything on their web site), so that was a little surprising. We wanted to go to dinner at Scampo around 8ish, but were told that the wait was over an hour. We went in search of other food (and didn't end up claiming our table). The next morning, trying to get a coffeemaker to the room, the hotel guide was sort of helpful: instructing me to hit a certain button on the phone, but the menu options I got didn't result in getting a coffeemaker! I tried to call the concierge desk, using the "Concierge" button on the phone, but got the valet desk. So I went downstairs to the lobby for coffee. Checkout was simple and painless. Overall the room was very nice, the pillows and bed were comfy, but I really don't know that it was worth the money we paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unique wonderful hotel"
Loved the architecture and history of the hotel itself and it was within easy walking distance to Beacon Hill and other must-see sites. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Our only complaint is the cost to valet park, it was $47 for our one-night stay. I don't know what competing hotels charge, but that seemed high.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, very cool vibe of the hotel"
after checking in later on a very busy Saturday night, we were not happy with our room. (Deluxe City view booked on Hotels.com should not be the roof top of the hospital) after speaking with the front desk they agreed to move us the following day. Room was clean and rooming but no view. Following day while we were out and about time, they moved our […] belongings to an upgraded room with a fabulous view of the St. Charles river. Over all, everyone we encountered, whether the front desk, concierge or the bellmen were extremely friendly and helpful. "Perfect blend of history and luxury"
Coming to Boston, I wanted to stay somewhere with historical relevance. The Liberty Hotel was perfect! They did an amazing job of keeping the history alive while making it modern and trendy and providing luxury. I've stayed in luxury hotels like the Ritz, I've stayed in trendy hotels, and I've stayed in historical hotels, but never have I encounter […] such a great mix of all three - with a perfect location, too. Right across the street from my favorite neighborhood, Beacon Hill, and within walking distance to North End, Back Bay, the park, and Cambridge (nice walk over the bridge). Nice view of the water and sailboats from my room. All the service people there were exceedingly friendly and helpful. Nothing to complain about. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I only stayed one night with my wife, but when the concierge found out we got married that day, he instantly gave us some complimentary champagne and an extra few nights in the room. The room was outstanding, lovely bath, spacious and big TV along with a fully stocked (albeit expensive - $9 for a snickers!) minifridge. I noticed that there was a fully […] stocked Gym free to use and fantastic dining. The only issue I have is that we found a bra next to the window in our room. "Best Hotel in Boston in my eyes"
My girlfriend and I went to Boston to visit a friend, check out the city and see the Tigers / Red Sox game for labor day. The hotel was amazing, we arrived at 11am because of our flight, so we asked them to hold our bags, but they upgraded our room to courtyard view so we could get settled. The hotel was a quick walk to TD garden, Boston Commons & bars. […] A 10 minute walk to Quincy Market and the Red Line was right outside the front door. It is a perfect combination of history and fun/excitement. The value is unbelievable at the Liberty and it is my hotel of choice in Boston for sure. If I had to say one negative thing it would be that the hotel restaurant CLINK is overly expensive for the small portions. But there are plenty of places to eat right outside the hotel front doors. "Very modern decor for an old historical building."
The service and restaurants were impeccable. Location is right between Beacon Hill, West End and The Esplenade. One couold walk to The Boston Common or The TD Garden. I was sort of surprised to find the decor was very modern even in the old part of the building with only a 10 foot section of plain brick wall and the window showing the early 20th century […] architecture of the building. Every other surface, although very nice, was very modern style and didn't capture the history. The Heat/AC was noisy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My only problem was a complete and total breakdown of the keycard system. At night the keycards are needed to access the elevators. Our keycards were an epic fail! "Hotel great, front desk just so-so"
The hotel was great. It's in a good location, just steps away from the subway. The front desk personnel didn't enter some information on the computer at check-in and my wife had a very hard time getting a key to our room. They mistyped other info and I didn't get my email copy of the hotel receipt until I called and inquired. Those were the only hassles […] and minor ones at that. The room service was wonderful. The room impeccable, though our room only had a view of the backside and trash barrels. I'd still go again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
As a jaded New Yorker, I'd have to admit this hotel exceeded all of my expectations. The staff was beyond amazing! They were friendly, attentive and warm. "5 1/2 Stars!"
Loved the hotel, loved the historical building with fun use of jail theme throughout-thoughtful and playful but not over the top. Loved being greeted by happy valet parkers, check in staff, free champagne, and a special card and treat in our room from the manager to celebrate our anniversary. Is the room perfect? no, but who cares? The bathroom was […] fantastic, as were the amenities, but the service is THE BEST I have ever received. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great stop-over. Restaurant wasn't amazing but got the job done - not too much around the hotel. But the hotel itself is worth going out of the way to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
good location, really nice place. Loved the history (an old jail) and beautiful lobby- one of the nicer ones I've seen. The only shortcoming was the views in our room were of the hospital next door. But room was very large, comfortable, and quiet. (no ambulance noise noted). Right on the T stop, easy to get to everything. Parking was very pricy - so […] we didn't bring a car but took commuter rail and T. Restuarant food was good, aptmosphere was cool (in old jail sections) but would be nice if they had better views of the river or the city. Breakfast was great at "clink" but pretty pricey, lots of good breakfast places in the neighborhood if you want to save some money there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We showed up on a rainy afternoon and we were greeted at our car with an umbrella, which spoke volumes of the hotel already. When you walk into the lobby, you will see the incredible architecture of what used to be the Suffolk County jail. We were greeted by Zach and he checked us in, gave us complimentary glasses of champagne and took time to show […] us a map of Boston and some must-see spots in the city. We then made our way to our room which was clean and welcoming and had an amazing view of the city!! It rained that entire day and after a few hours of walking around, we decided to go back to the hotel...and good thing we did!! The hotel was filled with young people enjoying the various restaurants and/or bars/lounge in the hotel. We loved the scene and loved that we didn't have to go farther than the lobby to have a nice evening. We only stayed at the Liberty for two nights, but really could've stayed longer! We enjoyed our stay so much, we've already discussed visiting Boston again...and of course, no other hotel will do! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This was a beautiful hotel with great service, and free champagne upon check in! It's right next to Mass General Hospital and the only negative I could find is that it isn't that close to the touristy areas (although they're definitely within walking distance).Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great room, great hotel"
Location is great; Tstop right across the street, plenty of restaurants within walking distance plus the restaurants in the hotel itself. Room was nicely furnished and fairly large with a big bathroom. The view of the city at night put this room over the top, definitely ask to get a room facing the skyline. The concierge was super friendly and didn't […] bat an eyelash at upgrading my room to one facing the city; in fact everyone I talked to at the hotel was professional and helpful. Stayed one night. Building has been beautifully converted to hotel from prison. Atmosphere is very classy and relaxed with a sense of humor. When we checked into our room I noted that the sette lounger had a bunch of dark stains on it. I went downstairs and mentioned it to the front desk. They did nothing. Secondly, the bathroom and the bedroom was so dusty, I wrote […] in the dust. Hello? It remained for the 3 nights we were their. Lastly, I fell outside standing under a heater over the rollers that were exposed. The doorman completely ignored me but a strange women came up to me to see if I was ok. "A little surprised -"
I had never before stayed at the Liberty as it is generally priced well above the price point I pay. While the hotel itself was amazing from a visual and historic standpoint, I must admit to being a little surprised by a few the minor details. We were provided a television remote that was dirty and worked so ineffectively that it made viewing the television […] downright upsetting (and ironically almost impossible to turn off, having to get up and physically turn the television on and off). I called down, but was unable to get a replacement before checking out. The Shampoo and Conditioner pumps in the shower (the ONLY shampoo and conditioner) in the room, were broken. Ordinarily I would just ask them to come fix these items, but when you are showering before a dinner reservation, you find yourself naked and wet and wanting to be clean, that option isn't available. In order to clean and condition my hair, I had to disassemble the entire assembly, and physically shake shampoo and conditioner out of the bottles. Upon disassembling the clearly broken pumps (anyone who filled them daily would be able to determine how and why they were broken), I had the pleasure of discovering the filth and grime that was part of the assembly. It just seemed a little surprising that at multiple hundred dollars a night, these things happened. The staff was also a little overzealous, knocking and entering almost simultaneously, which resulted in them walking in on us naked twice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Rebecca at check in was great, very helpful and always with a smile. Room was nice, but not luxury amazing. Complimentary coffee & tea in morning was nice as well. "Disappointed with night life"
While we very much enjoyed the evening atmosphere, my boyfriend was not pleased with the treatment he received from the bouncers throughout the evening. He was constantly being asked to move and had to keep reminding them that he was a guest of the hotel. At 2am, he was quickly shuffled out of the lobby bar area in a rather disrespectful manner (leave […] the premises or go back to your room). Why couldn't he finish his drink in the lobby of the hotel he is a guest in? While Commonwealth laws state that alcohol cannot be served past 2am, which of course is fine, the rather abrupt nature and actions of the bouncers left much to be desired. Rooms were adequate but I see this hotel is not about the rooms, but rather the location and night life. This is a great spot for guests where the room isn't important but those aforementioned points are. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
