"Train running below hotel super noisy"
Stayed here for my birthday and was disappointed. Decent hotel, nothing spectacular. Service impersonal, not friendly. I upgraded to loft but was not told that loft was on 3rd floor. Room was basically on top of their loud and club-like bar...not an upgrade to me. There's a train that runs beneath the hotel that's SUPER NOISY, you can literally feel […] the hotel rumble. Sucks when you want to sleep in. For the price and overall experience would not stay here again. Have stayed at London West Hollywood and Sofitel with far superior service and memorable experiences. "Overall, a great hotel"
Took a long weekend trip with my wife and stayed at the Ames. PLEASE NOTE: If you don't have a GPS you may have a little trouble finding this building. There is NO sign and NO number on the building except for a very small plaque on the side of the building. We only noticed it when walking past the building on the second day. Also, the building is right […] next door to a homeless shelter so there were a bunch of hobos hanging around at the end of the block. Not a big deal but not the most attractive site. Now onto the good stuff. The hotel is in a great location and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and seemed like it was recently updated with a very modern look (which I liked). The room was small but four our purposes it was fine. My only complaint about the room was a noisy heating/AC unit which woke me up a few times during the night (but I'm a light sleeper). Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. "holiday revels?"
Hotel well appointed however relative to others in class lacking attention to detail. Mini bar was not fully stocked per guide 7 missing items that potentially would generate extra charges, cordless phone was not working and corded phone stuck on speaker canceling led to disconnect, one shade would not close but at past midnight too late to request […] repair, poor to no ventilation in bath, no robes per ammenities list, in room at checkin. Though often two doormen only once was door offered to be opened during our two day stay. "An unexpected hidden treasure"
We enjoyed our stay. The room was excellent. The only draw back was the fridge was stocked with items to buy so we had to take some out to store food in the fridge. Staff were extremely helpful and had great suggestions. From the outside the hotel is not obviously a hotel - which made the hotel seem classier. "Trendy and nice, but maybe not worth the $$$"
Very trendy and unique hotel. Room and interior were modern, clean, and very cool, which we loved. Staff was friendly and attentive. Free continental breakfast was very good. But it's a pricy place, and to our minds, not up to par for what we paid. There were relatively few amenities, rooms were pretty tiny, and the service and quality was just not […] quite what we hoped for. Found holes in the pillowcases, housekeeping knocking on our door a good two hours before we needed to check out, etc. No pool, tiny fitness center. Very pricy valet parking. "Awesome experience.."
My wife and I spent 1 night in the Ames, as it was her first time to Boston. Parking was great ($18 for the night) as we parked in the same place that the hotel valets ($42) your cars, upon the receptionists recommendation. We booked at a discounted rate on hotels.com and requested a bathtub, and when we got to the room and realized it was a tubless […] room, they switched our room immediately at no additional charge. We ate at the Oceanaire restaurant which was steps away from the hotel, which was incredible. We drank at the hotel bar, which has some of the best mixologists in the city along with my favorite craft distillery's whiskeys, Tuttenhill's Hudson line (hard to find, even in NY). The room was comfortable, clean, modern, and quiet. HUGE flatscreen tv, glass shower looking into the room so you can watch tv as you bathe/shower. Everything you could ever need in the minibar, and everything in the room could be purchased, such as the lamp and the iHome alarm clock. Amenities such as Malin+Goetz toiletries from Barney's NY made this stay over the top. Wouldn't stay anywhere else if heading back to Boston.... as my alma mater's headmaster would say, Kudo's! I was incredibly impressed by the Ames Hotel in Boston. The hotel is gorgeous, immaculate, and situated in a prime location within Boston. You can walk to most of the main attractions in Boston from the hotel (or take a quick ride on the T). Hotel was nice and has expected as shown on their website. Great room, good location. Has a veterans building a few doors along though where you have to pass by a few homeless people if you walk up that way. Hotel is nearer Quincy market.
