A National Historical Landmark and formerly the Charles Street Jail, The Liberty Hotel - A Starwood Luxury Collection Hotel retains the original granite work and cupola built in 1851. The street-level entrance, redesigned by Alexandra Champalimaud, leads to the atrium and reception area through a narrow passage featuring mahogany stained walls. Escalators, embellished by tile mosaics of people once imprisoned at the jail, lead to the central 90-foot atrium. Catwalks provide access to guest and meeting rooms located in the adjacent 16-story guest tower. Alabi serves cocktails and features preserved jail cells, barred windows, original stonework and an outdoor patio. CLINK Restaurant provides an upscale seasonal menu from Executive Chef Joseph Margate, while Scampo features Italian fare from chef Lydia Shire. A 24-hour fitness center offers cardiovascular and weight-training equipment. Wireless Internet access is complimentary throughout the hotel.

Serving a dinner and bar menu featuring a selection of items including Baked Oysters Casino with Butter, Shallots and Bacon; Mushroom Sliders on Brioche with Cream Cheese and Sherry; and a twist on the classic with Ralph's Potato Chips with Smoked Truffle Salt.

"Amazing Time"
The staff was very informative of the area and super nice! I loved that we were right on Charles St. which took you to Beacon Hill and to the Freedom trail! I love how much history the hotel has! "Great for drinks and bar scene"
I was thrilled with the hotel.....from the champagne at check in to the friendly staff, the great lobby and atrium for drinks. Not to mention it has so much history. Our stay started out wonderful. Brent the day manager checked us in and was helpful and efficient. Our evening ended on a very bad note, however. At 11:30 at night after being in our room for just an half an hour, there was a very loud knock at our door. We asked who it was but they did not identify themselves but instead began opening the door with […] a key. My friends and I immediately used the dead bolt to stop them from entering and called the front desk and we were told to open the door because it was security. We did so only to have two very big men begin yelling at us for not opening the door for them when they were security (even though they did not identify themselves). They said we were being too loud and that next time we should open the door immediately. He was rude and scary. We closed the door and called the front desk and talked to Paul the night manager and he was also very rude and disrespectful. We had only been in the room for half an hour and were in bed watching a movie when all this nonsense started. As three 44 year old women visiting for a friends' get away we were very disappointed with the night time employees. We also found the hotel lobby lovely during the day but at night it turned into some crazy kind of disco with people every where and very loud music. I sure hope they fix things at the Liberty! "Perfect Birthday Mini-Vaca"
I stayed at the Liberty Hotel on my birthday with two close friends. From the moment we walked in, we were wow-ed. The interior is so different than any other hotel I've stayed in, as you can see aspects of the former jail. Since it was around 6pm on a Thursday when we checked in, the hotel restaurants/bars were lively with well-dressed people of all […] ages. The girl checking us in chatted with us about fun clubs to go to that night and gave us glasses of champagne. Nice! Our room was immaculate, our beds comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious - with a separate shower and tub. I only wish we had a view of the Charles River rather than into the offices of the hospital next door - but I reserved a basic room, so that was no fault of theirs. We ended up having dinner at one of the many restaurants along Charles St. and then going to a club called Down. The club was fine, but as it was tiny with no place to sit, we wanted to go elsewhere around midnight. A girl we met at the club suggested we go to Alibi...at The Liberty! Back to The Liberty we went. It was a gorgeous summer night out, and the patio was bustling with people mingling and relaxing around the couches and fire pits. "Liberty Hotel in Boston--Great July 4th Weekend"
My husband and I booked this hotel in December of last year for this year's 4th of July. As infrequent visitors to Boston, we were unfamiliar with the Beacon Hill area. The Liberty gave us perfect access to the area, the T, and the Community Boathouse Party. We were impressed with the unique building, comfortable rooms and attentive staff. We arrived […] late with rain-soaked luggage, and housekeeping brought extra hangers right away. We needed to fly down to Washington DC for a day at the end of our stay, and they cheerfully stored our luggage and then the concierge suggested that they arrange our rental car for our drive through New England so that we could pick up both our luggage and the car at the hotel on our return from Washington. Wish we could have come a day earlier for the chef's Saturday culinary tour of Beacon Hill. We won't miss that one again! We're seriously considering returning for the next 4th of July. This is an awesome hotel!! The service I experienced was excellent! The atmosphere is very hip and cool in the bar areas. The lobby turns into a cool night spot and although I had read of others having noise issues in their room because of this, I did not experience any problem with noise at night. The only slight negative was that I had hoped for a […] room with a view and asked them at the front desk when I checked in, I was told I was being upgraded to a courtyard view but it was only on the 2nd floor. I got to my room and my 'courtyard view' was basically just a big tree view, so not a great view but the room was nice. It didn't matter, I wasn't in my room too much, but it would have been nice to get one of the great views! The one other thing is the hotel gym was actually pretty weak for a hotel of this caliber, I definitely would have expected a better gym and I also would have thought there would have been a pool. The hotel is right across the street to the subway, so it made it easy to get around, it's a short walk to the Beacon Hill area and then the Boston Common. It's also right across from The Charles River Esplanade, great running location! I had lunch in Clink and found it to be very good, wanted to try Scampo but never made it. We spent my husbands 40th birthday here, we had a room with a majestic view of the city and the river. We really wanted a night on the town away from the daily grind and we got it all in one place. Dinner at the CLINK was high end, delish and fun.
