Very nice hotel. Very lively lobby with after hours young adult influx. Was given a room with rollaway bed instead of two queen beds. That was a nuisance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We were very impressed with the overall appearance of the hotel...especially the lobby area! The Clink restaurant is a great place to start your day with a delicious breakfast and excellent service. In the evening, the lobby area is a wonderful spot to unwind in a comfortable arm chair or couch with a cocktail. Our room was quite spacious and pleasant, […] but we never received regular housekeeping services during our stay. We made a point of telling the front desk that no one had cleaned our room (2 days) in a row and were given complimentary vouchers for a free breakfast. This was the one downside to our stay...that we had to call for fresh towels @ 10:30 at night and then again the following day ask that someone please clean the room @ 6:00 PM! It was as if housekeeping didn't exist on our floor. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't overpay"
Nice hotel and convenient for those site seeing in Boston, but don't overpay. Put up my friends here while they stayed in the city for a bachelorette party and it was perfect for them. The room through hotels.com was right off the elevator and smelled like someone in the recent past had smoked there...not enough for us to complain but enough to notice […] when you first walked into the room. Swanky appointments, beautiful people and lots of bar options in the hotel make this a really fun environment. Rooms are small but nicely decorated and comfortable. Another good perk is that the T is directly across the street from the hotel, so if you want to get around and not take cabs, it is very convenient. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It would have been great except that it took 4 requests, including a live request with the front desk, to get our room cleaned.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Interesting and Beautiful Hotel Property"
High end hotel. Modern, clean and very comfortable room, with large bathroom, deep soak tub and nice shower. Interesting and beautiful hotel property that was transformed from an old prison. Magnificant lobby and bar area. Very young active nighlife in lobby and at restaurants. Hard to get reservations at one of the hotel restaurants "Scampo" even if […] you are a hotel guest, if eating in hotel make reservations prior to check in. Location / neighborhood is ok...near Mass General. Concierge seemed inexperienced...restaurant choice in North End (Lucca) was terrible for entire party of six. Overall hotel property is outstanding and will definately stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cool hotel and beautiful too!!"
Happy to have stayed... this is one cool hotel!! My room was very nice. The bathroom was great ... beautiful shower! The hotel is not your normal run of the mill lodging. I would definitely stay again even though the location of the hotel was somewhat out of the way of my favorite areas in Boston... for me a taxi was needed. The only observation I had […] that was slightly negative was when we were having drinks in the main lobby area - it appeared that some tables were in need of cleaning.. what I observed were dirty smudge marks on the sides and legs of the tables we were sitting by ... a bit gross. All in all it was a great and fun experience... on our arrival we were greeted with bubbly AND we were standing about 2 feet away from a Hollywood celebrity. We give this place two thumbs up! "Stay in the tower rooms if you want to sleep."
The Liberty is a great hotel with a lot of character. Just don't stay in the jailhouse rooms if you want to sleep on a Thursday night. I checked in at midnight on a Thursday and the lobby was pulsing with 180 beat-per-minute techno music while the post-fashion show crowd milled around. Cool enough except the music made into my room through the walls […] and 1/8" crack along the brick walls. There's not much you can do but wait until they turn off the music at 1:30 am. Definitely a good place to stay... just ask for a tower room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel, but loud back alley."
The actual hotel is beautiful. Our only complaint is the location of our room. I guess we were on the back of the hotel where the alley is, and there is a pretty popular bar/club located downstairs, so all night both nights we were woken up many times to someone dumping mass amounts of glass bottles in to the dumpster.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Couples surprise retreat"
Great location and fun venue. Service was very good. Room was very nice but didn't "wow" us like other high end hotels we've stayed in. Furniture and fixtures are starting to show their age. We found holes in our sheets the first night, but they were changed at our request for nights two and three. Overall we liked the hotel, Beacon Hill neighborhood […] and hotel restaurants and bars (Clink, Alibi, Catwalk and Scampo). It fit our needs for a last minute surprise weekend rendezvous for three couple. Value for money was fair. We will certainly consider the Liberty again if they are having a deal, otherwise we might look a little harder next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent but odd housekeeping service"
Very good hotel but the housekeeping service was odd. They knocked at 9am every morning and they did not hear us saying "we are here". We had to literally go to the door and tell them in person that no, we did not want our room cleaned at 9 am. There was no "oh sorry for waking you" instead the house cleaner demanded to know when she could return to […] clean the room. It was just odd! We were there for 3 days and were disturbed at three other times of day. Literally. At around 1 someone knocked and knocked... Again till we opened to offer us water. At 5 someone else knocked and knocked to ask if we needed any refills for the minibar. At 9 someone knocked and knocked and then just opened the door and came in. I never heard what they were there for cause I told them to get out. Just bizarre in an otherwise excellent establishment Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful Hotel, just need to work on......"
Hotel was Great. Room was great. Not enough Coffee in the morning and had to settle for Decaf. I stay and play at many nice hotels and restaurants. I don't see the justification for the overpriced drinks in the lobby. The was a frumpy dressed waitress that gave us no attention and I had to go the bar myself and order two drinks and bring back to your […] comfortable white leather chairs. Two drinks where $38????? "Esthetically pleasing, functionally not perfect"
At first, I was ecstatic to be placed on such a high floor and when I got out of the elevator I saw a gorgeous view of the city. From my room, I stared straight into patient rooms of Mass General. The room is very spacious, as is the bathroom, but the bathroom does not function well. There is lots of open space but the shower is almost too small for […] a one person. I'm petite at 5'3" under 125, but even my belly rubbed against the side of the shower wall - imagine if I were a bigger person? The menu was nice but very repetitive from bar to bar. Either they should be different, or the same. Even the restaurant had repeated items. The charcuterie plate was over the top, and minimal at the same time. Lots of meats, no bread, condiments, mustard, or anything to break it up. It was a large plate of salty meat with nothing to break the salt. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"fun stay"
This is a very nice hotel. The whole vibe and theme is fun.Genuine Expedia guest review
Rebecca at check in was great, very helpful and always with a smile. Room was nice, but not luxury amazing. Complimentary coffee & tea in morning was nice as well. I wasn't impressed by the bell hop screaming at his colleague as we left the hotel. One would think that a luxury collection property trains their employees a little better than that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Disappointed with night life"
While we very much enjoyed the evening atmosphere, my boyfriend was not pleased with the treatment he received from the bouncers throughout the evening. He was constantly being asked to move and had to keep reminding them that he was a guest of the hotel. At 2am, he was quickly shuffled out of the lobby bar area in a rather disrespectful manner (leave […] the premises or go back to your room). Why couldn't he finish his drink in the lobby of the hotel he is a guest in? While Commonwealth laws state that alcohol cannot be served past 2am, which of course is fine, the rather abrupt nature and actions of the bouncers left much to be desired. Rooms were adequate but I see this hotel is not about the rooms, but rather the location and night life. This is a great spot for guests where the room isn't important but those aforementioned points are. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Boston trip"
The hotel is very nice over all. It is very distinctive looking and has a very unusual lobby. The staff and services are great. Great bar and restaraunts as well. My only complaint is regarding the double occupancy rooms. These rooms are supposed to house 4 people and the double beds are simply too small for two children let alone two adults. I booked […] a secoond room for our stay with a king size bed and all was well from that point forward. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A very nice stay, but not perfect. Beautifully designed property (boutique hotel feel with great use of the original jailhouse building's architecture), polite staff, and lovely rooms with nice amenities (complimentary bottled water, lush bed linens, gorgeous bathroom) were the highlight. The tv wasn't working at night - was told by reception it was […] a hotel-wide issue. View of the hospital offices forced us to keep drapes closed the entire time. Bar menu and room service menus are unique but limited. Would stay again for sure! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Mass. General"
Hotel is right next to a portion of Mass. General Hospital. Initial request was for the highest floor available which was done. Problem was the view. A concrete wall 10' away and looking down at the rooftop mechanicals of the hospital. Requested room change. Moved to 2nd floor overlooking interior courtyard. Plan your meals away from the hotel you'll […] get better service and a good meal at a more reasonable price Breakfast for 2 at the hotel will run you a couple of Jacksons plus tip. Lower level pub is nice with excellent brick oven pizzas and prices were fair here. Room and bed were very comfortable but no closet to hang your clothes. If you drive here parking is an issue with only valet parking available and it's expensive also. If you stay 5 nghts plan on parking costing the equal to another nights stay Small entrance not well marked to hotel on a one way street. You will miss it at least once and have to circle around 3 city blocks to get another chance. Public transportation is across from the entrance and most riders are patients or workers at the hospital. I'm not a big fan of talking about your malady and treatment process at 8:00am. "Nice Hotel - Mostly"
We enjoyed our stay overall. Nice room, very clean. Nice lobby. Had a drink from lobby bar -- not cheap, of course. We're native Bostonians, so we knew what to expect. We went to Red Sox game and this is certainly a convenient location to get to the game without needing your car. We were soured a bit upon check-in, as when we left car with valet, we […] mentioned (at 3:30) that we'd be going out again at 4:30. He offered to leave car right across from front door, which we appreciated. At front desk, no sign of the famed "champagne welcome"....she mentioned, "oh, Expedia". Can't imagine that that would have reduced our worth in the hotel's eyes (we are Hotels Premier Plus customers). Heed the reviews to stay in the new building for larger, quieter room with a Charles River view. We were sent right off of the lobby in the original building. Low floor with horrible view of rooftop/HVAC and right across from office windows, so we really couldn't keep curtains open. In defense of hotel, we didn't ask to be moved. When we came down, car was nowhere to be seen---"oh, THEY must have taken it, sorry it will take 2 minutes". We waited about 15+ minutes and we had dinner reservations and needed to pick up family. Other than that, remainder of stay was fine and we'll return to experience the better view on a higher floor away from the lobby. We think that will make all of the difference and want to give the Liberty another chance. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
