"Changed but not better."
We had stayed here before a few years ago. They are renovating, but it is worse now. The renovation seems poorly done. Such as no shelve in shower to use, making it very inconvenient. Overall room was cramped and not well decorated. Probably will not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"location location"
great location to go to a game at the garden. lobby under construction but not a big deal since the rooms are brand new. small rooms but so nice and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to subway and bars"
They were in the midst of renovating. So i cant speak for the lobby and tapas bar.. The room was clean and the service was solid. There is only one elevator for all 9 floors; so don't plan to be in a rush. About 7 bars (from hangouts to clubs) are within 0.1 miles. And a dunkin donuts is around the corner. I like the location, close to subway( ~4 blocks) […] but not in the epicenter of downtown. Pretty peaceful but def not isolated from the city feel. I'd go back. I stayed for 3 nights. "Decent Stay"
Service was great at the hotel! They were undergoing a renovation so apperance wasn't top notch. I also did not have an ice machine on my floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff were very friendly. It was obvious they were in the middle of a big remodel, which we knew about before staying. They worked hard to be accommodating, and our room was essentially brand new! We didn't hear any construction noise, and the room was beautiful! The hotel is close to a few different subway stops (good to know if there's a game), […] and was within walking distance to some great italian restaurants and the freedom trail. We would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The staff were extremely helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel is undergoing renovation so there was noise during the day and their restaurant is closed. No room service or mini-fridge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent option for the North End."
Having more light sockets in proximity to the beds would be nice. There aren't any next around the night stand. Also, no thermostat in the room. Also having a vlet service at about half the cost would have been more nice.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Not bad, but a series of unfortunate events..."
I received a great rate for this quirky hotel in a renovated older triangular shaped (Flatiron) building near TD Garden arena and North Station. Overall, I liked it, although the older architecture made for some odd room layouts which might seem small for 2+ people. However, the location was good, and the cool restaurant/bar had been recently updated. I […] really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I experienced a series of small problems & disappointments: The room wasn't cleaned one day, my key card for the door had to be reset once, a circuit breaker tripped one night, leaving the room with no electricity/lights except in the bathroom overnight, and the toilet ran slowly and finally clogged on the last morning. Individually, these incidents would have been isolated inconveniences that I'd chalk up to random happenstance, but all together over several days they got to be quite annoying. The staff were very apologetic, but nothing much seemed to be done. I was told to write to the manager upon checking out, which I did, but the reply was just another generic apology. I'm going to assume these incidents were just random, so I'd probably stay there again, primarily due to the convenient location (not far from TD Garden, restaurants/bars, subway, etc, but not in the middle of downtown), and the very reasonable rate. Plus, I liked the quirky older layout. However, some management improvements would be in order. Incidentally, I didn't drive, but valet parking is offered Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel for a great price"
This hotel has a great location and good prices. Only drawback is the parking situation. Valet for 1 night is 42 dollars and any garage that is cheaper is at least a 15 min walk away.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location for the Garden, that's about it."
My wife and I stayed overnight for a celtics game. Great location to walk to the Garden and surrounding bars. Good price compared to the other hotels nearby. The hotel is undergoing a remodel and the workers are constantly in the lobby having very loud conversations and swearing like sailors. The rooms were small but did the job. Our heat didn't work […] and it was freezing in the room. The front desk didn't know how to turn it on, I actually had to remove the panel on the wall and flip a switch in the HVAC unit itself, very strange. No ice or vending on our floor so we had to wander around to find it. I would only stay there again for the price, the Onyx nearby was 10 times better when we stayed there earlier. "Bare-bones and getting old"
The Bullfinch is a bare-bones hotel located close to the Boston Garden/TDBanknorth Center, whatever you want to call it. The rooms are small and have an old feel...the closet door didn't close, and there are very few electric outlets. The bed was comfortable enough, and the noise level was nonexistent. The housekeeping is a little off...for example, […] I got bar soap once ij my 3-day stay...I first thought that they didn't provide it til I got one the next day, but not the following. The sink was cracked and the rugs are old too. This was a good place just to lay your head if you're not concerned with room or aesthetics. BTW, the room service was decent the one night I had it, a good burger and fries. The staff is helpful and friendly too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A servicable hotel for a one night stay."
The hotel is older and in need of updating. The paint job in the bathroom was poor and the faucet was falling off the sink. The room was really tiny - you could only "walk" on one side of the bed but the bed and linens were clean and comfortable. The armoir (closet) was old and in serious need of refinishing. The staff was helpful but there was only […] one valet parking attendant retrieving cars in the morning making for an extended wait for our car. It is in a very convenient location for attending events at the Boston Garden. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great layover after a late TD Garden event."
Great place to stay after a TD Garden event. Short walk from the Government Center Parking Garage and just around the corner from TD Garden. Clean and frendly. Easy to get to any eating or shopping from this location. A gret alternative to fighting traffic at 10:00PM after a Celtic game.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Bulfinch Hotel Review"
The Bulfinch Hotel was very cozy and clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. I think the best attribute of the hotel was its location. Its proximity to all of the locations in Boston, that my family visited, was excellent. The staff was extremely nice and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Is the Bulfinch slipping?"
This was my fourth time at the Bulfinch, and it had slipped a little. I was there over the Thanksgiving weekend, and the hotel ran out of toilet paper on Saturday (we were given boxes of Kleenex tissues in its place); ran out of coffee for the rooms on Saturday; food from a Saturday night party was still on the elevator floor Sunday morning. It is still […] a great location, and a good price. Most of the staff were very helpful. So, I have a mixed view now. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Super hotel for a great price!"
Extremely comfortable and quiet room. Great food and bar. Very friendly staff throughout. Only two complaints - Internet service wouldn't work, but I never checked with the front desk to get it running (didn't really want to work that bad anyway) and ATM machine in loby didn't work. Minor issues - overall a great stay!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for walking tours."
Had trouble with telephone (messages & ring). TV service had no guide and no way to tell what other programs were on. I,m a morning person, so breakfast hours were a little late for me. The hotel staff persons were very helpful and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and price"
I enjoyed the location of the hotel, and the price was reasonable. However the walls in our room were all scratched up and unkept, and our room was not as clean as I would have liked. There was hair in te shower that was not mine and mold in the grout! I just think it needs some upkeep and better cleaning services!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Not so freindly"
For as many times we passed the front desk, I don't beleive we heard a "good morning" or "hello" from anybody. Sunday morning there was no breakfast to be had .Continnental breakfast? On a Sunday? We were not informed about only having a shower in our room. (We like to soak with bath salts and candles after a long day). On an upper note if you are going […] to the TD Garden this is a great location. Close to all the sports bars as well. Boston in general is a walking town so nothing was to far away . "Great couple's get away."
Absolutely wonderful! Nice clean room if a little small. Impeccable housekeeping. Very close to the North End and Downtown, a ten to fifteen minute walk. We wanted to stay an extra night and couldn't book on Expedia, so the manager of the Hotel made sure we were taken care of and gave us the online rate. "Great for singles."
My hotel room was very small. The bed was in a cubby hole in the wall. However, it was near the green line on the T. Also, the staff was exceptionally friendly, including their restaurant and bar staff. Also, it didn't matter what time you left your room, it was always made up when you came back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Well Located, But Rooms Are Small"
The hotel is well located for tourism in downtown Boston, Faneuil Hall, and the North End, being only a few minutes' walk from each. Because of the architecture of the buildings nearby, the neighborhood is relatively colorless, but is it also safe and, with the TD Garden (home of the Celtics and Bruins, when they are playing) and sports bars close by, […] it often has people on the streets, even at night. The Bulfinch has a helpful front desk staff, and there is a restaurant on the premises. However, the building is an odd shape, so the rooms tend to be cramped, and they are not always set up conveniently. In the last room I had there, for example, the ethernet cable for my computer -- which is safer than using WiFi for email, financial transactions, etc. -- was placed over by the window in the room, and the only way to use it with my computer was to turn around a big chair to face the tiny night table next to the bed. But because of the design of the room (again, because of the shape of the building), the space I had to maneuver in was tight, since the bed was wedged against the chair, which in turn was wedged against the wall. Also, the desk (on the other side of the room) had some of its varnish scraped off and looked old. The good news is that the rooms are do for a makeover before the end of 2012, so I hope some of these flaws in an otherwise nice hotel will be fixed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cute, but too small. Friendly but not helpful"
Room was decent. A bit small, very little room after the bed and desk. Bathroom was nice, but shower was tiny. The people at the front desk didn't really seem to know anything about the surrounding area and had a hard time explaining their valet service to the couple in front of me The attached restaurant had poor service, small portions, high prices. "Average hotel, small rooms, good location."
Description: The hotel is a little worn on the outside, the service desk atmosphere when you enter is a small, dark and quiet. Room: Very small and cheap (see additional note however below). Location: Great location, less than 10 minute walk to faneuil hall. Staff: Average staff, first guy was a little rude and didn't give us the extra bedding we asked […] for (twice!). Later in the night was able to get some bedding from another lady on the staff who was very helpful. Additional Note: I did get this room under the "unpublished rates" from expedia. So that could very likely be why I was disappointed with the room size. All in all the hotel served its purpose but if you are looking for more than a place to sleep try something else. "Good location, small rooms"
The room I was in was very small. I think the bathroom might have been larger than the bedroom. Check-in is at 3pm even though it's not put anywhere on expedia or on the website, and they are very strict about it. I arrived at 2:15PM and wasn't allowed to check in at tha time. The location is a bit out of the way but still easy walking distance to the North End or Quincy Market. Haymarket subway stop is a few blocks away.
