    I received a great rate for this quirky hotel in a renovated older triangular shaped (Flatiron) building near TD Garden arena and North Station. Overall, I liked it, although the older architecture made for some odd room layouts which might seem small for 2+ people. However, the location was good, and the cool restaurant/bar had been recently updated. I […] really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I experienced a series of small problems & disappointments: The room wasn't cleaned one day, my key card for the door had to be reset once, a circuit breaker tripped one night, leaving the room with no electricity/lights except in the bathroom overnight, and the toilet ran slowly and finally clogged on the last morning. Individually, these incidents would have been isolated inconveniences that I'd chalk up to random happenstance, but all together over several days they got to be quite annoying. The staff were very apologetic, but nothing much seemed to be done. I was told to write to the manager upon checking out, which I did, but the reply was just another generic apology. I'm going to assume these incidents were just random, so I'd probably stay there again, primarily due to the convenient location (not far from TD Garden, restaurants/bars, subway, etc, but not in the middle of downtown), and the very reasonable rate.     My wife and I stayed overnight for a celtics game. Great location to walk to the Garden and surrounding bars. Good price compared to the other hotels nearby. The hotel is undergoing a remodel and the workers are constantly in the lobby having very loud conversations and swearing like sailors. The rooms were small but did the job. Our heat didn't work […] and it was freezing in the room. The front desk didn't know how to turn it on, I actually had to remove the panel on the wall and flip a switch in the HVAC unit itself, very strange.     This hotel is fairly old and the asthetics are not that great, the bathroom is modern but the toilet would not flush and almost overflowed and the shower had horrible drainage and my feet felt like they were in a bathtub, cause the water did not go down the drain. The clock did not work, but the hotel restaurant was pretty good, the order wasnt right […] at first but once right it was tasty.     Had trouble with telephone (messages & ring). TV service had no guide and no way to tell what other programs were on. I,m a morning person, so breakfast hours were a little late for me. The hotel staff persons were very helpful and friendly.

    I enjoyed the location of the hotel, and the price was reasonable. However the walls in our room were all scratched up and unkept, and our room was not as clean as I would have liked. There was hair in te shower that was not mine and mold in the grout! I just think it needs some upkeep and better cleaning services!

    We were a bit disappointed upon arrival. Front desk basically ignored us and then was rather off-putting. Our room was clean but EXCEPTIONALLY SMALL!!! There was a small closet but NO DRESSER, thus we had to live out of our suitcases. Location not bad, but we prefer to be a bit closer to the action.

    We stayed at the hotel since we were looking for a place in the city close to Fanuel Hall. We found the hotel to be nice (nothing flashy), and situated close to Government Center and Fanuel Hall. The room was surprisingly cramped, and the paint/walls showed some signs of wear. Walking into the room, you basically end up in the bathroom. The bathroom […] door isn't actually a regular door that closes with a traditional handle, but a sliding partition. The bathroom was quite small (2 steps from the entrance and you are in the shower). The shower head was loose and disconnected from the wall. The bed was relatively comfortable, and the TV was in a good working order. Our view faced a cement wall, so anyone looking for a view of the city would be sharply disappointed. For the price of two hundred dollars for the night, I thought it was a bit expensive. You basically pay for location rather than lush accommodations. If I needed to stay for a longer period of time, I would be inclined to find a larger room where I didn't feel like I was in a shoebox.     It's been awhile since I've stayed at the Bulfinch and the room I stayed in wasn't reflective of what I'd expected from past visits. To be fair, the staff there is always friendly...no matter what time of day the front desk staff greets you. The bellman is helpful and outgoing. No complaints on service and friendliness. I was given a triangular shaped […] room with a king bed. There are no outlets on either side of the bed, so there is no place to plug in a laptop or phone charger. I also did not have a clock radio in my room and had to ask three times over the course of a day before someone brought one up and handed it to me. I had to move a king size bed away from the wall and crawl behind it to locate the only outlet on that side of the room. Not pretty... They don't clean under or behind beds very often - lots of dust, dirt and trash. There are no phone instructions in the 'manual' or on the phone itself, so I had to call the front desk on my cell phone. Twice, I came back to the room at the end of the day to find that housekeeping left the AC blasting at the lowest setting (50 degrees) and it took hours for the temperature to get back up to a comfortable place. The bedding is inadequate (for 50 degrees or a normal temp) - a sheet and one light blanket. When I did call for an extra blanket, someone did bring one right up.     Asked specifically for Champagne and chocolate strawberries to be in our room upon check in. Gave them a specific time and we still didn't have them ready. Disappointing only because it was our 10 year anniversary. Everything else was OK.

    Great location and neat old building, however lacking a bit in regards to service and upkeep of the hotel. I was stuck needing a car rental during my stay and the parking is was very expensive, valet service was slow and limited in regards to early and late hour availability.

    For the cost, I would have expected more. SImple requests, like fresh sheets after a coffee spill, weren't followed through. Restaurant service also left much to be desired, not to mention they didn't offer any discount for guests of their hotel.

    We were very happy with the surrounding area and all that we could walk to. You can watch a game at the Gardens then walk to the North End for dinner. The Bulfinch is also close to the Freedom Trail which leads you to the Paul Revere House and the Old North Church plus other historical sites.

    The Bulfinch location was a short walking distance to the T and the North Station and not a bad walk to the wharf/harbor area. The front desk was helpful. The room was extremely small, but I was not surprised, as I had read that about the hotel from other reviewers. Boston seems to be able to charge high prices for very small rooms.

    Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the cleanliness of the room. We were not told of the policy of changing sheets daily only if you place a card on the bed (which we did not see). The worst was when my roommate opened her bed on the second night, there were blood spots on the pillowcase and both sheets! It must have come from the maid when […] making the bed, possibly having cut herself. A call to the front desk had to be made twice in order to get someone to come change the sheets. A top sheet was not provided until a request was made the 3rd night. I don't think the carpet was ever vacuumed in the 3 nights we were there. Service in the lounge for breakfast was non-existent. Had to find someone to help! On the high plus side, Crystal in the lounge made our first night (after a very trying day) most enjoyable. Food was very good and her service was fabulous!     Rooms are very small. Also, we had a king-size room reserved and because we checked in late they only had a room with two full-size beds. We moved to a room with a king-size bed the next night, however the room was not much larger than the first room.
