The reviews gave me a bit of trepidation but I found them to be ill founded. The property is hidden because the sign board is quite small (it is next door to the YWCA). The interior is a little dated but my room was large and comfortable. They could update the bathroom fixtures and paint some but overall it was clean, in good condition and quiet. Only […] one of the two elevators worked the four days I was there and that was inconvenient. Also, the wi-fi did not work in my room.The Continental breakfast is mediocre. The location could not have been better. Very near the Copley T stop. (this is the Back Bay part of Boston). It is a leisurely 10 minute walk to Symphony Hall. The hotel is in a wonderful location, the heart of the Back Bay. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was adequate - bagels, muffins, danish, juice, coffee, apples, oranges....nothing fancy but enough to get you going in morning and not have to pay additional money. My only complaint was the room - EXTREMELY outdated. Lots of […] hotels are outdated obviously, like Super 8's, etc., but this was depressingly old. I didn't want to be in the room for long. I couldn't stay there again for this reason - I'd rather spend the extra money. Otherwise, great bargain for Boston. Boston is very expensive. If you want a hotel in a good location within walking distance of attractions, you'll have to shell out some bucks! If you're willing to give up some luxury, this place is a good trade-off and a good value. It's within walking distance of most things. The lobby was nice.. had an old and classy feel to it.. too bad the rooms don't match.. they could use some serious updating. The free continental breakfast was nice. Parking is additional and also not cheap.. expect to pay ~$20 - $30 per day at the garage across the street; and expect to walk a ways with your luggage to get to your room. Fantastic location. Close to transportation, great restaurants, the Charles River, parks, and two shopping malls. This is a small hotel that gives very personalized service. Quiet hotel in very convenient area. Close to many sights, easy to get public transportation, hard to find initially. Older hotel so small rooms but kept clean. Would stay here again, good value for the money. No airport shuttle but can do public transportation or a cab.

Location is great as it is close to Copley Square and within walking distance to Copley Place which has some upscale boutiques and stores. We hotel could do with a little redecorating especially the carpeting. Otherwise the hotel is perfectly fine.

Very serviceable hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was very good. Breakfast was a free continental buffet, bagels on a disposable plate, but the coffee was plentiful. Lots of good breakfast places 5 mins walk.

Was dissapointed as there was no heat in our room. I was told my the desk clerk other customers had complained about the same thing. Ask for it to be repaired, was told no maintenance people on duty. I ask to change rooms, was told the hotel was full; however did not see any other customers in the lobby or halls. Room was clean, very old.

Boston has (without reason) high-priced accommodation. The Boston Conference centre is an exception, but at no sacrifice. My family and I were on vacation and have never stayed at a 'conference centre' before and wondered if it would be too business-orientated. Superb location for exploring Boston by foot, just minutes walk from Boston Common, Copley square, Prudential centre etc. Very good value for such a central location. Queen bed and reasonably comfortable sofa bed for 3rd occupant. Breakfast was quite basic but possible to get reasonably healthy cereal, juice, fresh apples and coffee at no additional […] charge. Very helpful and friendly reception desk staff. Free use of computers and printers in their business centre allowed airline online check-in and printing out of boarding passes that was via an airline that only allowed online checkin within 24 hours of flight. The John Hancock was overpriced for the accommodation provided. This was the second most expensive hotel we stayed in, in the USA over 5 weeks, and the least favourite. Even painting the walls of the rooms would have made it so much nicer. The furniture could be renovated, and the bathrooms need updating. The Disabled room we stayed in flooded the floor […] when the shower was used, and the bath plug in another room was sitting disconnected in the bottom of the bath. Needs lots of TLC to bring it back up to an acceptable standard. Breakfast, however, was excellent and it was within walking distance of Back Bay and Copley Square Stations, rental car office and some nice restaurants. We walked to Boston Common and Beacon Hill. Das Hotel & Conference Center John Hancock in Boston liegt direkt an der U-Bahn-Station Back Bay, das Viertel ist ziemmlich belebt und bietet zahlreiche Pubs und Restaurants. Nix tolles, aber für ein Hotel in einer US-Großstadt durchaus ok. Frühstück in Ordnung (Bagel, Toast, Muffins, "Danish", Cereals - und Kaffee).
